The 22nd tropical depression has formed in the Atlantic, and The Weather Channel is saying that it could be named as early as today. It would be named Vince, second to last in the list of 2005's hurricane names. After Wilma, it's on to the Greek alphabet.

It should be obvious. They're not randomly skipped. There's never more than 21 hurricanes (until now), and there's not nearly as many good Q, U, X, Y and Z names.

Its not like theyed need too many of those names anyway. They sue the same names every 6 years, and since the odds of a hurricane with that name forming are small, it shouldnt be an issue. Make 5 Z names, and call it a day.

You know, a storm only needs to reach tropical storm status to be named.
