Gotcha. That's why I pointed it out as I would personally pick new PGR over Forza any day.
Maybe I am just looking for some PGR spirit floating.
But no, it wont be anything like a PGR game.
Thank god!

A few people are wondering why we are so quiet.
We will not make the mistake again to mention new things too early. We
will announce something new if production is about to start. We are
working on several products for several platforms and every one of our
new products will set a new benchmark as they did in the past.
We
are also trying hard to protect the investment of our existing customers
by making our current products upwards compatible. But we cannot
confirm that before the final consoles are released.

oh hell, i am not the best one to describe impressions. but i ll give it a try.
keep in mind that i am a wheel racer and dont have a lot of pad experience.
played every round without any assists.
regarding the physics you re going to hear the same things you did with every iteration before.
cars weight transition and dampers are more noticable than before. break hard with the merc and your weight goes to the front letting the dampers work.
tires were again different and you just feel the grip more than before. you dont go straight from having grip into slipping/ oversteering. that fine line feels homehow extended. i think that bodyweight has a part of that impression, too.
of course it happens way faster to slip with the audi than the merc.
i dont know if that focus has so much power or if the understeer was exeggerated. accelerating while in turn1 pushed the car heavy over the front wheels. it felt very very natural, but as mentioned: does this car really has so much power?
i ve hit one car full force on purpose at the last corner, however i focused on visaul damage. the merc had just some scratches and informations popped up to tell me what broke. the impact itself wasnt impressive. like the stuff we already know from fm.
dont know if that talk has any useful information. in generel: the game felt authentic and took a step further towards realism.
dont know if casuals are going to have fun with it. should have tested some rounds with assists turned on.
/edit
oh and while i was waiting for the AI car to hit it i think i saw m. rossi (yes, red car) flashing the headlights. first time i noticed that and i really dont know if that is already in fm4.
hmm. I am about to sell my fanatec. if i wait, I sell it for much less in three-four months, and that "upward compatibility" is not a standard yet.http://www.911wheel.de/?q=node/10230
Oh for the love of God MS, please let this happen. For the sake of our sanity please make us happy.
Please!!!?!!?!?!?!?!?
Thanks.

The latest instalment in the franchise launches on Xbox One later this year, and Ekberg is pointing to four key areas of innovation as evidence of Forza 5's scope.
These are graphics, multiplayer, physics and improved AI - which includes the much talked about Drivatar feature.
"Forza Motorsport 5 is our most ambitious game yet," said Ekberg in a behind closed doors showing of the racer.
"This is because we're launching on Xbox One, and we want to offer the true motorsport experience."
Later Ekberg showed off the Laguna Seca track, which has appeared in other Forza games but not like this.
"We brought this track to life like never before," he added.
"We call it perfection through imperfection."
He then pointed out the cracks in the road and other similar features that add realism and depth to all the tracks.
Forza Motorsport 5 is coming out as a launch title for Xbox One later in the year
Can't find it now, but it's from the same menu pics from which people spotted spa.
Same page, same thread on gaf
I am always reading that Forza 5 uses "pre baked lighting". Is there a source for that info? Thx
Look at the gameplay. It's quite obvious.
Same terrible lighting from FM4 where car shadows and environment shadows are completely wrong in relation to each other like they are created by completely different light sources.
uh, no. this isnt like that laughably bad CoD ghosts screens. shadows line up fine.
i fully expect you to post that prague screen with all the ms paint red drawing over it that supposedly shows how wrong it is.... dont let me down!
You can see it by the difference in resolution, baked in shadows are limited by the resolution of the texture and in the current state they're pretty blurry. But the car shadows are dynamic and sharp looking. In games with dynamic lighting (GT5, PCars, Horizon) there's no disparity in quality between the two.
no need to quote me. i know it has prebaked lighting and what that means. the most obvious way to know is, it doesnt support dynamic time of day.
about dat calspan... yeah... better it be "WORK IN PROGRESS", else Dan overplayed it waaaayy too much.

why would i ask if i knew
its the data partner they say they use.(Pirelli would not do the "extreme tests" that t10 wanted, so calspan, or so they said)op_ivy said:is the calspan stuff supposed to be used for collisions?

You can pass that off as Forza 4. Very disappointing.

hmm... MAYBE because we discussed this on this very topi,c on the very first page, in which very first page you participated?
Any other games with 100's of licensed cars that do collisions better?
Thats one Drivatar I don't want in my races.about dat calspan... yeah... better it be "WORK IN PROGRESS", else Dan overplayed it waaaayy too much.

why dont you go back to the first page, and read the first 20 posts?no we didnt lol
i assume its the background behind sport. is it a guess based on the palms (which could be from any number of locations), or like the spa pic has it been lined up with other pictures from long beach?
not the palms, it's the bottom left pic with the buildings that line up with long beach
no, none! absolutely! i added comment for this.
but still, cant help not to be little disappointed.
and I will be angry if this is dumbed down on purpose!
why dont you go back to the first page, and read the first 20 posts?
when you said we i assumed you meant me and you, and i didnt read the posts, crazy i know!
I think it looks really nice, I wish he would have stayed on cockpit view longer. That first turn AI was not great that's for sure.
you still did not read the 20 posts i told you, otherwise you would have seen that the 20th post is YOURS
its only 3 days ago. whats wrong with your memory?

God rays are an effect. No excuse for them being so badly implemented.
As for FM5.
Inexcusable...
Wondered when someone was going to post about that. That's a known bug in the gamescom demo build and something we're well aware of.

Megaton, games having bugs confirmed.
I wonder why other games still in development get away with stuff like that, but Forza is getting a hard time.
It's a pattern I'm seeing too.
How many positives have been talked about in this thread?
I can assure you not as much as the negativity that's flying around.
I see so much scrutiny it's becoming almost unbearable.
