Out of sheer boredom I wanted to give you guys a very important tip if you're new to Guild Wars in general.

ALWAYS make sure you have a salvage kit on you, carry two if you can. Salvage kits can be bought from many general vendors and probably even karma vendors. We know of 6 different types, one of which is a perfect kit and is sold on the gem store. Like GW1, it'll probably be very possible to craft perfect ones, but anyways on to why you want to always have one with you.

Starting out you're going to want to get bags ASAP, general vedors sell 4 slot ones for cheap, but those are only 4 slots and you can obtain a lot of loot very quickly in GW. So you're probably going to be aiming to make yourself some kind of new container which can be obtained really fast through any one of the three armor crafters (armorsmithing, leatherworking, tailoring). You can make yourself some 5 slot bags right out the gate with any one of those three professions and so in comes the salvage kit.

You can salvage gear you obtain as well as items that are specifically designed as salvage items among other things. So you break these down into crafting materials and you can either then use them for crafting, sell the materials on the Trading Post or even the item you had if someone is offering a good price on the Trading Post.

Another thing to remember is you can use the Trading Post by simply pulling up the UI from anywhere in the game and you can then buy and sell right there, no need to go anywhere to do it. You'd then need to pick up any items you bought or if you sold your item directly to someone who had placed a buy order then you'd need to also pick up your coin. To pick up your stuff all you need to do is go to a city and visit a Trading Post NPC and you can retrieve items/coin. So you can very easily empty your bags from anywhere in the world without going back to a vendor and it's nice because chances are someone is offering more coin for the items than the vendor would give you.

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment
Do you guys know if there'll be more betas that will be for pre-purchase people only, and if it'll still be possible to prepurchase after this weekend or if they'll shut the gates? I won't be around this weekend :)'() So I haven't pre-purchased yet, but if another beta-weekend is announced later with no more pre-purchase available because too many people have it already, I'll bite my ass for not buying it earlier...

There will be at least one pre-purchase beta per month up until release; however, ANet could shut off the pre-purchase program if the beta gets filled to capacity. If they do that then you won't be able to pre-purchase the game and get into any future betas unless they start it up again; however, as of right now you could wait until this one is over and still pre-purchase it to make sure you get access to any future pre-purchase beta events.

If you go to the guildwars2 forums the announcement is up there with a link for the client.

Edit:looks like it directs you to the same link that was mentioned earlier. So that link is now official. Just no email yet.

Edit2:Aaaand it's down. Wish I would have taken screen shots. :/

Did you verify the URL and see if it is indeed the same one?

Wait, so do you have to use up a salvage kit to break loot armor into craft-pieces or is it a passive? I'd assume the first, so why do you need to have the salvage kit on you? Isn't it more space-efficient to have the armor as "1 piece", using up less slots, and then only break it down once you're back in town, so you don't NEED to have the salvage kit on you at all time?

You can gain crafting mats through normal gathering like mining and whatnot, but if you've already gathered say some copper ore, you could breakdown some heavy armor you got for example and it would then stack with your copper giving you more room to get more loot. Or as I said, you could even sell that armor on the Trading Post in one of two ways, either through posting it for sale for whatever price you wanted or if someone was looking to buy it right then and there you'll simply fill that order and get your coin.

New launcher old Dat file starts okay without further download.
Same build number on both Gw2: 14,058

Yup many have said after downloading from the new link all it does is open up the client that was already downloaded. So they are the exact same files, just different locations.

This is very unlikely, my bet is on two more before launch.

They held one every month leading up to GW1's launch and have said they're doing one every month for GW2 as well. Seeing as July is the likely release month there's only going to be 2 more and 3 at the most before headstart.

Elite on R, two most important utility skills on Q and E. Strafe on A and D. Fixed.

I'm going to have my profession abilities on QERT, 6-0 on my Naga, V for dodging, and hopefully I can bind middle mouse to weapon swap, it not I'll be making a macro on my Naga.

I'm really shocked the preload hasn't happened yet.

For all intents and purposes it has, they just haven't sent the link out via email. The client link wasp up temporarily and they probably pulled it to fix an issue. It'll be sent out today for sure. If not, we have the official link so you can get it today no matter what.

My keybinding layout. Posted from a previous thread. Hoping this beta allows for shift keys to replace control buttons.

MB1 and MB2 are actually MB 4 and 5 on my mouse, I just consider them not LMB and RMB (left mouse button and right mouse button)

KNOWN ISSUES •Audio •Combat audio may not play correctly when enemies or players are struck.

•Commerce •The Gem Store and the Trading Post may not be viewable by some players.

•Events •The amount of time between enemy waves in some escort events may be long. •Queensdale: on occasion, the centaurs encountered during the “Battle for Beetletun” event may become stuck on the sprinklers.

•Hardware Compatibility •Display: the graphics-settings slider has only a minor impact on performance at this time. •We are currently optimizing Guild Wars 2, making ongoing improvements to the game’s frame rate. Presently, the game is CPU-bound on most high-end systems, so lowering graphics settings or upgrading your video card may not have a large impact on performance. •On older or lower-end machines, it is recommended that you try disabling reflections to improve frame rate.

•Installing the game client into the Program Files directory on Windows Vista or Windows 7 can lead to issues with the patching process. •It is advised that you install the game to another folder or launch it as an administrator.

•Forcing anti-aliasing through AMD Catalyst™ Control Center or AMD VISION™ Engine Control Center typically results in a black screen when playing. ATI cards that are known to cause the black-screen issue while using the latest drivers (12.3) include: •HD 2900 •HD 5770 •HD 6970

•Windows TDR (Timeout Detection and Recovery) will sometimes restart a user’s graphics drivers if they become unresponsive, resulting in a notification that the graphics driver has been restarted. •Alienware ATI Laptops: the Guild Wars 2 client does not restore properly after being minimized. •Currently, adjusting the core clock speed of the GPU or CPU typically results in lower performance. •It is advised that you leave core clock speeds at factory defaults.

•AMD CrossFire™ and NVIDIA® SLI™ are not currently supported. •These features should be disabled while running the game.

•Enabling NVIDIA 3D VISION® may cause a crash on some systems. •If you experience a crash while this setting is enabled, it is recommended that you disable it in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

•Miscellaneous •Dyes: equipping new armor does not keep the old dye settings.

•NPCs •Occasionally, multiple NPCs may overlap with each other while walking. •Interacting with walking NPCs may cause them to stop, disappear, and then reappear at another point in their path.

•Personal Story •On rare occasions, a player’s personal story may not progress correctly. Restarting these instances and trying again should allow you to continue. •While progressing through your personal story, some of the recorded audio lines will not match the text that is displayed. This is due to changes made after the lines were originally recorded, and will be corrected in future versions of the game. •Additionally, during your personal story, some of the NPCs will not have accurate (or any) lip-sync animations. This is an additional effect of lines having been changed after they were originally recorded.

•Points of Interest •While trying to completely explore maps and find all points of interest, it is important to note that some of these locations are not labeled on the correct floor. •Click on the map-level icons in the lower-right corner of the world map—or use the Page Up and Page Down keys while viewing the world map—to reveal the different floors.

•Renown Regions •In some cases, the voiced audio of a scout’s description of nearby renown regions is not played. •Queensdale: on rare occasions, the shell game in the "Support the citizens of Beetletun " renown region may not function correctly. •Queensdale: completing the “Unite the ettins” renown region does not count toward map completion. As a result, the maximum completion for the Queensdale map is 16 out of 17 renown hearts. •Hall of Memories (PvP Lobby): renown regions are currently shown without descriptions.

•Social •Chat: using a bound letter key to begin a chat reply (for example, after assigning “y” as the hotkey for chat replies) results in that letter being typed into the chat message field. •Contacts: some players appear offline. •Guilds: there is an infrequent issue with members not appearing on the roster of a guild. •Parties: on very rare occasions—affecting users on a case-by-case basis—players are unable to join or create parties.

•UI •Display: selecting the “Windowed Fullscreen” option does not save the setting. •Mouse: Using Alt+Tab while auto-running with the mouse will disable the Guild Wars 2 custom mouse pointer and replace it with the Windows cursor. This will affect the player’s ability to perform certain actions in the game. •Restarting the Guild Wars 2 client will correct this.

•Sound: the “Mute when GW2 is in the background” setting does not function properly.

LOCALIZATION KNOWN ISSUES •Audio •Most of the audio for BWE1 is available in German and French, but some voiced audio is still missing. Lion’s Arch is particularly affected by this issue as most of the voiced audio heard there plays in English. •If a recorded line of audio is outdated, it will still play. This means that some subtitles will not match the voiced audio you hear, since the subtitles have been updated. •In the event that no voiced audio has yet been recorded in English, no audio will be heard.

•Gender issues •Anytime female player characters address themselves or are addressed by an NPC with nouns like “friend,” “shaman,” “hero,” etc., the voiced audio will not reflect the gender correctly. The subtitles should, however, reflect the correct gender.

•Timing issues •Currently, some of the timing in the French and German audio is not correct. As a result, the voiced audio in some conversations between multiple NPCs overlaps or is cut off.

•Crafting •Some translations do not reflect the correct names. The jeweler crafting discipline is particularly affected by this.

•Achievements •Newly added achievements are missing their translations.

•Lion’s Arch •Some conversation text still appears in English.

•Commerce panel •The text in the tabs of the Commerce panel (Gem Store, Trading Post, etc.) has not yet been localized and will appear in English.

I'm so bored

Hehe, I don't have to learn it, it's actually my primary language. ;) I prefer to play games in english.

But anyways, it's weird because the launcher is in english... And one of my friend downloaded the same thing at the same time than me and the menu is in english for him. Oh well, it seems I'll get used to it for the weekend.

I believe dodge is on double tap as well.

That it is, and those are some of the weirdest bugs I've ever seen in an mmo.

I can attest to •Sound: the “Mute when GW2 is in the background” setting does not function properly. not working

Yes dodge is any direction double tapped.

Thinking of taking q and e and making them automatic dodge rolls instead of strafe. I usually strafe with mouse camera controls.

dodging attacks is so very important in this game id eather single stroke key it that double tap.

No email still but downloading the client, so pretty.

Presently, the game is CPU-bound on most high-end systems, so lowering graphics settings or upgrading your video card may not have a large impact on performance.

Hell yeah, my 2600k is ready.

No email yet... I'm beginning to think I have the pre-order version :(

Sending such a large volume of mail takes some time, so don't fret if you don't get yours immediately. When you do receive it, keep in mind that the site is getting an enormous amount of traffic, so you may get a 502 error briefly. Just hang in there and give it a few minutes, then try again. ~RB2
