Kamen Rider Build is a genius physicist. The whole event happens when Pandora's Box gets opened in Mars, causing Japan to split up into three islands. Smash, foreign organisms, meanwhile appears to take over.

Build's gimmick is combining two bottles - one themed after machine and the other themed after animals. His default is Tank-Rabbit. He's sorta like W in many ways.

Writer is Shogo Muto who has done Crows Zero, Crows Zero II, and Densha Otoko, and he is new to toku. Director however, Ryuta Tasaki, is a very prolific toku director, doing among other things, Gingaman, OOO, Drive, W, Akibaranger, and Gaim.

Also, Build will air in a different timeslot (along with the remainder of Kyuranger). It will now come 9am in Japan, an hour later than before.

Whats that song with the guitar that plays every time someone does acid and everything goes pschyadelic in movies?

Think its Jimi Hendrix or something?

Japanese superheroes get the best costumes.

I can't believe ExAid is already almost over. I felt like it just begun yesterday.

Dawg.

I'm not ready to say goodbye yet.

Also jesus man, Build looks absolutely hideous.

Toku-fresh writers always do the best stuff, whether its Urobuchi on Gaim, Riku Sanjo on W, Fourze, Drive, and Kyoryuger, or Yuya Takahashi on Ex-Aid.

Ex-Aid too (Yuya Takahashi)

with that said Ghost was new too, but then the problem was that he was always away

So this means there are five Ex-Aid episodes left with recent Rider shows having one or two episodes after the main plot. The fact that Build is appearing in the movie makes me thing they aren't doing that this time around though.

The suit is being well-received, so that doesn't bode well for the quality of the series.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Amazing design
Which worries me as the last couple seasons with awesome designs ended up being garbage (Wizard and Ghost)
Where as Riders with dumb designs lead to great seasons (Gaim and Ex-Aid)

Hello new avatar...sorry Stitch.

Hello new bike that will probably get like an episode of screen time before being forgotten.

I dunno, I was never sold on Ghost design and I thought that show was meh and I actually liked Gaim design and I enjoyed that.

Build could go either way.

Okay so I've always wanted to get into Kamen Rider but don't know here to start/ watch the series. Can anyone PM me where or give me a good starting spot for the series?

Masked Rider ZO is a great starting point. Very short and sweet, just 40 minutes. After that though, you get a lot of different options.

The current Rider, Ex-Aid, is reeeeally good if you can get over the suits.
You should visit the Toku-Gaf thread, that's where all things Kamen Rider/Ultraman/Sentai and so on are being talked about and the guys over there know there stuff.

Yeah. General rule of thumb is, the dumber the suit looks, the better the writing and the characters.

+1 for Agito. Shit was insanely good.

True. Who would've guessed that Ex-Aid and Gaim would turn out the way they did at first lol
Then Ghost, looking awesome was... crap.

I honestly was gonna recommend W but it gets a bit uneven and is a little weird for a Kamen Rider show. I'd recommend OOO and +1 to your Agito. It gets a bit...iffy at the end, but the ride is really good. Agito handles pacing and characters fairly well.
By fairly well I mean non-stop suffering for Gills. You guys know that puppy he gets at the end of the series?

Dead.

LIKE HIS LOVE LIFE HAHAAA.

Japan is split into three by a huge wall, and the main stage of the series is one of the capitals of the split country, the "East Capital", 東都/Tohto.

So this means there are five Ex-Aid episodes left with recent Rider shows having one or two episodes after the main plot. The fact that Build is appearing in the movie makes me thing they aren't doing that this time around though.

The suit is being well-received, so that doesn't bode well for the quality of the series.

Toyguide mentioned Build debuting in episode 44 of Ex-Aid. Ex-Aid and Ghost also both appeared in the summer movie and the last two episodes of the previous show, so this is basically the pattern now (Well, rather than Ex-Aid, it was Genm in the last two episodes of Ghost, with Ex-Aid himself only in the finale).

That zebra striped lower left leg ruins it. I also don't like how the visors are the same colour as the rest of their corresponding helmet halves. I mean, I get why, but W still thoroughly wins in this regard. Oh, and the belt crank is silly too.

Still, I'm optimistic. The recent pattern of good looking main rider suits being inversely proportional to the quality of the resulting show doesn't bode well for this guy, but I'm willing to give this Toku freshman writer a chance and hope he's not going to bugger off for most of the year like the other guy did during Ghost's production.

Build looks good but as I said in the toku thread I'll reserve judgment until episodes 2-4. Gotta get through the CGI monster bike fight first.

Japanese media in general reuses film locations a lot.

Even The infamous JAV pool showed up in Fourze.

Sakamoto is a mad man. Surprisingly he's been reserved with Ultraman Geed so far, things could change with the other female cast showing up next ep.

Parallax

best seen in the classic "Shadow of the Beast"
i wonder if build will have a prototype suit? too bad the black/purple set has already been used

on another note, was there a thread for amazons? that seemed like a show most of gaf would like

Oh yeah that scene. That's a porn set? Damn.

Can't talk about reused sets without bringing up Oomori Hill, or the theater (MMPR fans will definitely know it)

Pretty cool design.

Do all these tokusatsu shows film in the same shipping yards?

similar areas over the years, it's why people call areas "the beach", "that school", "that waterworks", etc.

They reuse a lot of filming locations, but it's only obvious sometimes.

Toei's filming sites are actually getting smaller sadly. It's also why there's fewer bike scenes - permit changes and all that.

Idk about that design. The first promotion shot looks cool, but him on location looks a little too bulky.

Good design, but a Rider show in of in itself hasn't grabbed me since Gaim (then again, it's hard for most in the genre to top that show).

Idk about that design. The first promotion shot looks cool, but him on location looks a little too bulky.

He looks slim compared to every Rider that has been around since Fourze.

in hindsight, "smart" riders isn't really a rarity, especially since W

W - halfboiled detective
OOO - hobo
Fourze - school delinquent
Wizard - uh... magic guy
Gaim - street loser
Drive - cop
Ghost - bland dead guy
Ex-Aid - intern
