The fairy tale parts are cringe worthy most of the time.
Plus Maleficent loses the Dark Curse in an attempt to protect her tiny unicorn, which is something that happened on real TV.

I actually really liked the scene between her and her 'Daddy' because it showed her vulnerability. The fact that she hesitated and even told him what she had to do...and the mere fact that she needed to sacrifice 'that which she loves the most' is proof that she CAN and DID/DOES love her dad. I can't wait to find out what Snow White did to her that was so bad that she absolutely couldn't let it go despite the sacrifice (I hope it's not being more beautiful than her like in the fairy tale, that would be a huge let-down). Besides she even named her kid after her dad (I'd be interested in knowing what happened to her dad in real life, and if he is also called Henry).
Anyway I started seeing her as more than just pure evil, someone who could potentially be brought back. Ruthless, definitely. Heartless, I don't think so.

That's what I've been saying... I don't think it's she can't act, it's just very poor character writing and bad directingLactose_Intolerant said:The chick from house basically has one expression, the what's going on look where she wrinkles up her forehead.
I missed the first few mins of this ep, but we have a new one tonight
Looks like the kid and his psychiatrist got trapped in a mine and now the evil queen and emma gotta save them
Jumpin' Jiminy Cricket save with the Umbrella! :O
Gat damn some of this stuff really hokey but entertaining
wtf is that thing she dropped down the shaft?
I just tuned in to this now. It's beautiful. Every single episode has tugged at my heartstrings. Everytime that key theme melody plays -- ugh. Am crey. It's as memorable as LOST's more well-know pieces already.
I'm surprised this hasn't got as much attention as it deserves. The initial trailers might have turned people off shitty CG and all -- but already, this ranks in my top 5 favorite series, and that's only going by the first four eps.
This is probably the closest show that can fill my void of LOST -- great character ensemble, solid themes (so far), flashback-of-the-week formula, and not to mention, the get-me-giddy LOST allusions.
I don't want to know how it's rating -- it might depress me. But I hope it does well enough to afford themselves better CG and more seasons in the future.
The hell? Am I the only one who thinks the child playing Henry acts well? He's appropriately, convincingly child-like with just the right "cuteness" to balance the out-of-this-worldness of the fairytale theory.
On another note, I just caught up till the latest ep.
The Hatch just got real.
Speaking of LOST allusions, did anyone see the Apollo bar in that last episode? Made me smile.
1) Considering they're planning on running this for a long time, they should've played the "real life" part straight, and have you start doubting the kid and wondering if he's making it all up. Instead, they made the mom and her ploys over-the-top evil.
