Sad that this is happening:

Press at Trump evening rally getting escorted to motorcade under watch of cops in riot gear, per pool. This is getting increasingly scary.

If anything happens to a press member Trump better get sued for inciting violence.

Some friends who protested outside the Trump rally went inside to check it out after it started.

One said "And he tried to say another 7,000 people were trying to get in, when we got in without a problem and there were plenty of seats open." She took a photo.

FIX: Finish this sentence: “Ten years from now, Republicans will look back on nominating Donald Trump in 2016 as __________________.” Now, explain.

Stevens: A catastrophic mistake. Before 1964, Republican presidential candidates could get 30 to 35 percent of the African American vote. That fell off a cliff in 1964 never to recover. If the same happens in 2016 with other segments of non-white vote such as Latinos and Asian Americans, we likely won't elect another Republican president for generations. I go back to these two basic numbers: in 1980, Ronald Reagan won a sweeping landslide of 44 states with 56 percent of the white vote. In 2012, Romney lost while getting 59 percent of white voters -- and a higher percentage of white voters turned out in 2012. White voters with high school or less are Trump's strongest area. Every four years they comprise just under 4 percent less of the electorate. Betting the future on those voters is like losing $5 on every sale and hoping to make it up in volume.
You can be for or against the future but the future doesn't really care. It's going to happen.

11 year old girl: "Trump comments about women make me feel bad."

Mike Pence: "ISIS will rape and murder you if Hillary's feckless foreign policy continues."

Someone retire this asshole.

What a fucking disgrace. Your running mate makes a little girl feel bad... "Buh buh buh ISIS, Hillary!"

Yeah, I think however people vote in their first election is likely to influence which party they stick with in the long haul. Schwarzenegger supported Republicans for almost 50 years because he liked Nixon.

Trump is essentially ceding a generation to the Democrats. Additionally he's also driving up turnout among older minorities who haven't voted before. And they'll be far more likely to vote again.

I think Dems are likely to retake the Senate majority and have a very outside, but slightly more plausible now, shot at retaking the House too. But is anyone else concerned or dismayed at the fact that the Dem gains will be, mostly if not entirely, seats held by the more moderate Republicans?

If the Freedom Caucus has been the tail wagging the GOP dog for the last six years, they're going to end up being the whole fucking dog next year. The House Republicans likely to lose are not going to be the Tea Partiers, and come January, there's gonna be way more of them than Republicans who could even consider working with Dems or Hillary.

I just listened to the latest Woocast (actually the first one I've listened to) and it definitely brought me crashing back to Earth after all the recent hopium. :lol

Um

Did he literally just spend a paragraph saying "I don't care about your feelings"?

Well that IS the t-shirt.

Context and a link please. Stevens who?

I assume that's Stuart Stevens, who was a Romney campaign adviser.

"it's also consent."

Yup. Hillary's reelection will be incrementally easier four years from now, simply based on these kinds of trends.

2020 is far off, but I fear party fatigue after three terms, and every little bit of headwind for the GOP is appreciated.

Yeah, that's my worry. I really hope that Hillary blows people away for the next four years.

Yeah as disturbing as that is, she's sorta giving him consent... which his supporters don't like? or something...

Speaking of the Senate:

Mike Lee explains why the GOP will block Garland even if Clinton wins

Mike Lee does not believe Merrick Garland would be any more moderate as a Supreme Court justice than whomever Hillary Clinton might pick instead if she wins, pouring cold water on the idea that the judge might be confirmed during the lame-duck session after the elections.

During a debate Wednesday night with his Democratic challenger on the campus of Brigham Young University, the Republican senator spoke in nakedly political terms about his party’s refusal to grant President Obama’s nominee so much as a hearing after the death of Justice Antonin Scalia.

Ooooookay.

We need the goddamn Senate. They're going to block indefinitely if we don't get it.
