NOTABLE WITHDRAWS

Nadal withdraws from Australian Open
Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from next month's Australian Open.

A stomach virus has plagued the Spanish superstar's preparation for the summer as he attempted to rejoin the tour for the first time since a mid-year knee injury.

Ironically, in the end it was the virus, and not the knee, that prompted his decision.

"I am sorry and very sad to announce that I will not play in the Australian Open," the 2009 Australian Open champion said. "My knee is coming along okay, but a stomach virus has left me unable to get ready in time to tackle the rigours of a Grand Slam.

Other withdraws: John Isner (knee injury)

Would like to see Murray win this, but i'd have to go with Djokovic to win his 4th Australian Open. Also can't see past Serena Williams winning the women's title. It would be good to see one of the young guys like Tomic, Dimitrov, Raonic, or Nishikori make a deep run in this tournament, I like Tomic's game.

Apparently Fed could play Davydenko in the 2nd round....and Tomic in the 3rd

*laughing hysterically*

=p

So Roger could play Davydenko 2nd, Tomic 3rd, Raonic 4th, Tsonga QF, Andy SF, Novak F. Wow!

Good open draw for Novak he owns Berdych, Ferrer should not be a problem. But I believe thougher draws make a winner. Don't believe in easy draws.

I hope Murray and Azarenka take it all, they are the most fun to watch now imo. Would be nice to see Federer or Sharapova win another slam, but not sure there are many are left for them.

Sharapova has no chance unless Azarenka and Serena get bounced early.

Djokovic's draw is laughab.e He basically got a bunch of clay courters and Berdych, who has never done anything worthwhile at the AO.

Murray gets Del Potro, but that is it.

Federer's draw is insane.... basically every match from round 2 and up is a potential classic.. And it will be his first tournament of the year.

R1 Paire,
R2 Davydenko - Could be dangerous if Davy plays like he did in 2010, but it is unlikely.
R3 Tomic Federer taught him a lesson last year, how much has the aussie improved?. This is going to be a nighttime match.
R4 Raonic/Rosol Raonich lost 3 tight matches to Roger last year. Rosol... will no comment on this one.
QF Tsonga Fed destroyed him in 10, and Tsonga is injured (not sure if he recovered). Tsonga came back from 2 sets to love down at Wimbledon.
SF Murray Beat him in straight in 2010, but Murray has finally won a slam now.
F Djokovic I want this match to happen!!!

Let's do this Roger!!!

Nightmare draw if all those players deliver. I suspect Tsonga and maybe Raonic won't, though.
