With the level of blatancy that Keijo had I'm not surprised.

Random note: Xenoverse 2 needs those suits from the april fools joke as DLC.

I feel sorry for the author. He wrote some fun stuff and the anime was actually really fun as a guilty pleasure. Shame manga editors are so cut throat.
Seriously, it was stupid fun in all the right ways that made it enjoyable to read/watch, just to see what silly thing you'd come across next.

Though the anime probably didn't help since it skipped a ton of details/earlier training & it doesn't stand out as much compared to other ecchi stuff since it actually tends to hold back for the most part (hell, the anime decided no nipples & there was times where the manga had long stretches of no nipples as well).

Kind of sucks that the mangaka is taking all the blame that the ANIME didn't do well. That's like if the Berserk mangaka took the blame for the CGI version that's appeared lately or how Koei Tecmo handled the marketing of the musou game.

Keijo!!!!!!!!! is by far the cleanest show you could possibly make about a fictional sport where you use your ass and breasts to knock another person into water.

Meanwhile I watched half an episode of the Valkyrie Drive show and that's above softcore porn in terms of risqueness.

And then there's the just started "Seven Mortal Sins."

Sex alone doesn't sell. Appealing characters and character designs sell.

Doesn't look like Keijo had that, at least not enough to overcome its absurdity.

The funny thing is that Keijo!!!!!!!! is actually a decent show. The characters are memorable, the gags and puns are good, the action is fine, the sound effects are hilarious. The last episode is slightly disappointing but besides that it was solid.

The basic idea for Keijo is stupid beyond belief. It doesn't matter how good the series actually is when no one's going to pick it up due to an insane premise that no one would want to be caught dead reading.

I mean, this is a question for those that read it, would you want your parents or girlfriends or whatever to catch you reading Keijo? Would you be embarrassed to be seen reading it in public? Is it the thing you want to be reading when a cute girl (or boy) walks up to you and starts chatting you up? That's why it failed.

While I agree with your point I'd say it's overall less embarrassing than Fairy Tail!

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

Guess it depends on your significant other lol

Fairy Tail you could at least pretend isn't softcore S&M if someone catches you reading it. Keijo is Keijo, there's no talking your way out of it.

I mean, there's going to be girlfriends or boyfriends who like it (statistically it has to happen to someone) but in general...

Isn't Japan a society where they were publicly reading hentai on the train on their way to work up until a few years ago?

Honestly, I seriously doubt anyone was talking to those guys. And the margins for porn are likely tighter than for something more mainstream.

. . . I might agree.

I never straight up stopped watching SAO like I did with Gundam.
Same here. I actually was looking forward to SAO because I wanted to see just what other wrong choices it'd make with its story telling. Unicorn is the only Toonami show I have ever dropped, which is saying a lot considering how many shows I've managed to sit through.

With Gundam, I just gave up because there was nothing I was getting in return for seeing it. At least with SAO, it was a learning experience & in a way, I'm glad I saw it. I can barely remember what happened in the episodes of Unicorn I DID see, & hearing the reactions/summaries from podcasts help support that little is going on for me to care about. Even IBO had elements that moments that didn't work, but still offered up discussion as to why & how it could've been fixed.
