Yeah, and it was stupid back then, too. They did it recently with the PSP + Vita, as well.

Just wondering if Pach is right or close to right on number of combined PS4 & XB1 units sold, is that good, average, bad etc.

I doubt it would embrass them they didn't make the prediction and to my knowledge have made no statements. Patcher on the hand would, but he's had his fair share of "embarrassments" by this point any publicity is good publicity.

This is the problem with Pachter releasing his predictions (and a silly one this month), whether for fun or to troll, or for his clients on twitter.
You have Nasdaq reporting the Xbox One outsold the PS4. The headline says it all, then tucked away neatly within the first couple of paragraphs, they have Pachter as the source. They even have a whole paragraph about how Microsoft's Promotion Trumped Sony's Marketing. However, none of this is even official yet.
Ridiculous that NasDaq would run that story, off what was clearly a prediction, then start explaining how Microsoft pulled it off. It will be interesting to see this story when the NPDs are actually released.

The moment where we are doubling down on the armchair analysts being right vs an actual analyst who is often wrong, the best of the worst predictors.
