My thoughts on this game at this stage are... I'll end up getting my money's worth from it and then PC hits in four months and that's probably going to be The One.

Question - in my 'super' class in the garage I can see about 8 unlocked cars.

Every time super comes up as a class in multiplayer, I'm offered the Aston Martin and the uncontrollable Atom. Don't understand - why is this? I'm just skipping out every time super comes up at the moment because the BAC Mono people (I'm not in a club) just sprint away at the start and that's the race over. No other class seems to be this hopelessly lopsided.

Sounds like a UK/Best of British race to me. Makes sure you pay attention to the name of the event.

The soul and lack thereof comments come from a lack of presentation effort.

Its very industrial. There isn't a lot of effort in presenting the game to the player.

Like it or not, presentation is part of a game and if other games do it better, or make more effort, there will be criticism about it.

Its not 100% necessary, but when done correctly is something that can create atmosphere that can be appreciated by the player.

Forza 3 had much nicer presentation than Forza 5s stale menus and many people including critics commented on it. And its totally valid criticism. However, there are extras like Vista that add something more.

Like it or not, DC presents itself as if its just any other racer, even if you don't believe it is. Leaderboards aren't a Driveclub thing. Beating times isn't a Driveclub thing. Stats pages aren't a Driveclub thing.

Those are things that can be found in most racing games.

The focus on community isn't committed to enough imo. Tha club feature isn't really made a showcase of the game, its just there. You can race online. You can race offline. Clubs are just there.

How about when I win a race or score the Most game in a race, my club name and insignia are flashed center screen for all to see?

How about a kind of community hub where you can find out which clubs are online, challenge them to race not just set times, keep track of a rival club. Stuff community hubs are usually good at.

How about post race stats screens showing who had the Most collisions, clean sectors, warnings etc in the last race. "Clean sector king" awards to take away the "just win" mentality people have.

There is just a lot more that could be done to flesh out the game without changing its core values and I think people who care about the games future should be more willing to hear that criticism than to heckle and shout them down.
Been catching up on this thread and there's not a lot for me to disagree with in this post. Very well done.

Not to bring system wars in here or anything, but I played Horizon 2 for the first time at a kiosk at PAX Aus this weekend, and man the extra crap to go through to start racing is ridiculous. I'm pretty sure it took a good 5 minutes of cutscenes and voiceovers before I got to do actual driving (the dude before me did the initial Lambo race, I jumped on right after). If there's one thing DC does damn well, it's getting me into a race super fucking quick.

I wish the same can be said for multiplayer races.
Well, it's as quick as it could be (when it works). Pick multiplayer from the menu, find a race, wait for the countdown (which varies), then wait for everyone to be checked in and pick their car (which is the most time consuming bit) and then we're racing.

Don't know how it could be done much quicker? At least, until club races and such are working.

I give up on getting 225/225. It's the Atom. I hate it. I hate every aspect of the handling.

Atom is stupidly silly and don't drive it at all (only doing time trials to rank the Atom Accolade mileage. Forget this even for a while, return to it when you have others. If you haven't tried, believe that Venom Hot Lap will be MUCH worse ;D

Or... if you wish to try again - break AND add gas at the same time. It will not spin you out like crazy.

Or... use Share Play and let someone else finish this event for you ;) (should be possible, right GAF?

what does did not finish mean in Multiplayer?

do not want to waste my time since I am just grinding the progression stats pages does the race not count?

this share play thing should be tested but how would you get a Star if someone else finishes lol because you don't get credit for npcs

npcs? What are you talking about? :/

SharePlay lets you "pass the controller" to anyone on your friends list. If they accept, they're essentially playing as you. They can progress through a game and earn trophies, with your profile.

you'll get the star, add me I'm pretty decent with the Atom. Check out most of my youtube clips are of the atoms

I am willing to pass the controller to someone else I wonder if this would work with my shitty WiFi? I only have like 30 stars though so the hard races are not even open the Tour is hard and frustrating for me

sorry I meant AI drivers would that still not be an NPC non-player controlled character lol

edit: that sounds so much like cheating the person playing for you should get something too

Why does your cut and and paste from a form email contain formatting, spelling and grammatical errors??

"currently working towards a permanent for a number of issues"

That doesn't even make sense. Is this actually the email you received from Evolution?

Do you actually think I'd make this up?! Come on.

Sorry, I haven't followed the entire thread, but do we know the source of the online issues yet? I noticed there were a couple of client patches designed to reduce server loads, but that's all I really know. Do they just have way more users than they anticipated? I know "preventing millions more from hammering the servers" was given as the reason for delaying the PS+ version.

How many users are there? Is the client too chatty? What's the actual issue here? It sounds like a self-imposed DDoS, but that doesn't seem terribly difficult to solve, in and of itself.

You'll get better mate....I'm done with every tour event....sad part is...I just realized there is no Trophy for doing all the events :(. All you have to do is beat all the major events to get the gold trophy.

Rest of the trophies are technically soft locked, since we can't do challenges to complete them.

Wow that's incredibly sad that they won't refund the game like this especially since the connection issues are just as bad as they have always been, even though they said in some Facebook post that things should be working now. It's getting crazy how much I'm connected and disconnected, it's changing up like every few seconds. Plus the Face Off bug is now getting more common, and amost all Face Offs are bugged out which is even hurting that part of the game.

Yeah, not good enough. I have replied and am eager to see what they come up with next.

yes, its in and out connection wise for me as well......game still sucks with anything around an internet connection. I even had a message in that video I posted, during the multiplayer session that it lost connection to the driveclub servers....and then everyones car started flying lol.

LOL WUT!?! Did this really happen? That sounds hilarious haha. That sounds like some automobiles getting Raptured or something XD. Also my goodness do I suck at some of these Drift Events. Having trouble getting all the star in the events also now that's I'm passed Semi-Pro Event, so many of the better cars are locked at the later levels like 30-35 for some of these events which make some of them harder. Was using Bently Continental on some race, and it sucked watching everyone pass me super fast on any straight away. I must get better so I can unlock more cars!

The A.I can be annoying sometimes (feels like it's lifted out of Mortorstorm with less rubber banding) as they ram you from behind. I don't mind accidents but sometimes the A.I just feels plain dumb.

I was under level 30 when completing everything(I'm still fucking 29...such a grind)....there was really only 1 drift event that I had a problem doing....and I barely beat it. Also when doing events that que up 2-3 races...make sure to read the challenges. AVG speed means you would most likely want a car with better handling and acceleration as they normally don't do average speed on tracks that have a ton of straightways. But on most tournies, its best to choose the car with the lowest drift capability, that way you are not constantly sliding into every turn.

Club points seem to take a lot to level up. I'm second lowest level in our club (sorry guys, just not been playing due to server issues) and the club is level 20-ish, needing over a million to level up. And I'm winning a tiny fraction of that. Do earned points scale with your level? Feels like I'm barely contributing compared to what is needed.

nope.......everyones probably time trial drift grinding.....its the fastest way to level up, buts its so fucking boring.....think you can get around 100k in about 15 minutes or so.

Yeah it's pretty much just the average speed ones where I'm still having trouble most of the time, Britain Vs. Germany second race Average Speed Face Off has been giving me trouble all morning. That second race was tough since I went with the Continental GT and it's not the best handling in the world, but having got passed up big time on every straight made me think it was all that good at accelerating either, and the acceleration is much needed anyway for that Face Off since there are 2 pretty sharp curves on that one.

Why does your ghost data sseem to load randomly?
Ihate when im doing a time trial event and my ghost decides to load half way into me finishing the course and seeing my ghost 2 seconds ahead. Sometimes it doesnt even load up.

So it's almost a month after launch and they still haven't fix the all online issues. MP is working alright but face-off is still buggy and I couldn't access to the challenges.

Despite all that I'm still playing this game on daily basis but come on...

Doing the Legend event can give you 200somethingK in about 10 minutes.

will have to look into that...I always thought trial with drifting was the fastest

edit: found this on trophy hunters

Fast way to boost levels is Single Event / Race / India / Tamul Nadu 2 / Difficulty Professional / 11 cars / 1 lap and lowest recommend car is from Performance Class car, Best is GREEN RUF RGT 8, or even Better any faster car gives you better than 1 minute, one race, one lap and 20.000 points if you manage to avoid hard collisions and overtake clean, but average is 19.500 per minute. If you set less then 11 cars then you will earn less points for overtake, lower difficulty also give less points for 1st place. Both Professional and Legend difficulty are the same 11.500 points for 1st place.

Try to find easiest opponents on this track, if for example you racing using GREEN RUF and there is ARIEL Atom on the track, just quit, No chance to catch it. You will learn after like 10 / 20 laps. Once acolade points for mastering RUF are over, pick other car, Ferrari FF and then McLaren MP4 12 C. I started on level 35 and maxed out 3 cars doing this.

Repeat this race to boost EXP, this way you will gain (Game mode + Game Play + Event + Vehicle) all in one track over and over again fast. Those counts toward trophy level 50 and the one where you have to master all four Categories.

Faster car like McLaren MP4 12C will give you only 2 second faster lap, but less points during race for bashing other cars. I Found that Green RUF work for me best, every lap was under 1 minute, i got 11.500 points for 1st place and around 8000 for avoiding collisions overtake and small drift.

1 minute = 19.500 points
10 minutes = around 200.000 points
1 hour = around 1.600.000 points

Do your own math.

my problem with getting better is all the cars are different when I get a car I start getting clean runs with Tour has you switch cars all the time and some of them are really tricky to learn

hahaha, yes, it takes some adjustments. Only car that you can touch for the first time and feel like a pro with is the BAC Mono.....that car is so unfair in track races because of its acceleration and handling. I choose Mono over Atom any day for circuit races.

Even with online being terrible is it bad I still really want to get Driveclub? I played the GameStop in store demo and had an absolute blast was going to grab DC as a part of Target's buy 2 get one free. Anyone think it would be moronic to buy at this point? I mean they've gotta get it working 100% sometime soon...?

Got it on day one and single player has kept me busy enough to not care about online so I'd say, go for it!!

Haven't been home for a week and feeling withdrawal from not getting to play it. Need to do some Atom races soon. Thinking about getting a PSTV to play some remotely when I'm not at home. Has anyone tried DC with remote play through this?

It works lovely with local remote play, but I havent tried it via internet yet.

Just tried that. Yeah that sucks too, but it's not as frustrating, I did just over 1:17 so far after about 8 laps and could probably find that extra second if I do a consistent lap.

The Nordic race was well over 15 restarts alone. I'm not going back to it without a different car.

If they could get joining an online match as quick as starting up a single player match, it would be sweet. Even when its working, the online is slow at getting a match up and running.
