Ugh. I want a new phone because I bought a fitness band whose app does not work on my HTC One S, but I don't want to wait for new version, while not wanting to buy current version if their is a price drop coming,

Ok so I got my first smartphone maybe 3 years ago (iPhone 4s when it was hot shit) and immediately got laid off. Had the phone for like 2 weeks before I had to return it because I couldn't afford the payments :( my parents were nice enough to put me on their plan but I've had a really crappy flip phone since. During that time I went back to school, graduated, and just landed a great job so I'm back on the market for a smartphone! After researching I really want to get the OPO and am way too impatient to wait till Tuesday, although I'll probably have to lol. Anybody have an invite they can send me for a 64 gb black? I've waited three years and it's hard to wait even 2 more days to place my order lol

Congratulations on your recent success. If no GAFFER can help you, try asking on the official OPO forum. They always have invites m8.

if your OPO battery gone to shit lately see if Google play services is keeping your device awake

You can disable this in the Privacy Guard System under advanced.
but for some reason I also think it actually helps to disable powersaving on the GPS(set it to high accuracy).. yes it sounds strange, but maybe someone else can test this as well

here is my current battery statistics.. the break is flight mode while i was sleeping

Decided to jump on the OPO bandwagon as well after I broke my N4. Phone arrived today but no one was home. Had to call DHL to arrange a new delivery attempt and I have to wait until Friday cause I have to work till Thursday and I cannot pick it up at a branch store either. That one time I'm not stingy and actually choose express delivery.

I got one of these for my mom after her Nexus 5 broke. I got some invites too if anyone needs one. I got a couple questions:

She says the battery goes down super fast sometimes and I saw that she had brightness at 70%. I couldn't find any auto-brightness option so I just put it at 40% but she still feels like the battery is too short which is surprising since she had a Nexus 5 before. What kind of things should I fiddle with to get it to maximize battery life?

Also is the protection of the tempered glass screen protector worth it? It sounds like something I would like but I'm not sure she would care a lot about the feel of it since she had a plastic one on her previous phone.

That's strange, the battery life is probably the OPO's best feature. When you set the brightness there should bet a "auto" next too it, there is on mine anyway. Also go to settings->battery and look at what's draining the battery the most.

I have a tempered glass protector, I paid around $10 and feel like it was worth it. I feel a lot safer.

Battery has been taking a beating due to the latest update and Google play services clashing. Causing the phone to never go into deep sleep. Takes my on screen time from 5hrs avg to 2 1/2 hrs avg.

This is supposed to have been fixed in 12S. People on the nightlies say it's no longer an issue. For now, use Privacy Guard to block Location, Wake, and Keep Awake while we wait for the 12S OTA.

basically this is googles fault, the play store app is not respecting peoples devices and privacy.. its pulling your GPS location constantly even when in standby... you can block much of this in the privacy guard system under advanced. Under Privacy guard you can prevent playstore app from pulling gps location, prevent it from waking up the phone and prevent it from keeping the device awake. You can also see how many times it actually pulled your location(along with all other apps) its pretty scary

Why might I want to have Keep Awake enabled for some apps? Does it provide some benefit with Gmail, for example?

Properly written apps that request wake locks need the phone to be awake. You "should" never prevent an app from waking the phone because you could be preventing it from operating properly. That said, some apps are poorly designed and abuse things like wake locks, location services, etc. and drain your battery.

Especially in the case of Play Services, which is used by tons of Android apps for anything from syncing data, to bluetooth connectivity, to the fused location provider, you should not disable functions. It might be killing your battery (which is currently a CM issue, not a Play Services issue), but you could cause a lot of problems in apps across the board.

Problem is that there is a bug i the play service so this isn't working correctly.. i also mentioned to only do this with the play service.(but i have done it with several apps on my phone)
I would also like to state that i have seen no problem with doing this, only side effect now is that my battery last for days. Play service can still do its silly updates when I am actually using my phone. Its not like the android system will explode just because a patch is loaded 5 hours later.
Also since 26. of December the playstore app had requested my GPS location approx 46.000 times(this is not a joke) i fail to see how this is necessary. Therefore it is now blocked

So i've had my OPO for about 2 months now.
Its been great, except for it seems like the keyboard is getting a tad unresponsive.
Anyone had any experience with a wonky keyboard?

Where like you type and it may register the keypress or not.
Or for example after a phone call sometimes when i take the phone from my ear, the notification bar will fly down, so i have to swipe up the bar then hit End.

its not something i can really reproduce. But it does happen throughout the day.

When Google decides to push it. There's a lot of bs during certification like "powered by Android is 1 px too high." (That's a true complaint by Google)
I thought the whole point of Cyanogen Mod was that Cyanogen would control the release, not Google?

Me too. Supposedly due to recent updates. I mostly use the Google keyboard, I should try going back to the AOSP keyboard and see if that has any effect, but if it's a system-level touchscreen issue, I guess that won't help.

The more I read their forums the more I regret buying one haha. I pray that I will have a working device.

There's also an enormous thread complaining about touchscreen issues that hasn't had an update to the main post from OP in 4 months. That kind of stuff makes me nervous, but at the same time I recognize that any tech company has forums filled with people who have busted shit.

It's still have to be certified because it used Google Play and all Google suites of apps and services. Anyway it was pretty dumb of them to set a hard date before having the software done.

I guess I'm screwed until Lollipop drops...I can't get it to deep sleep no matter the settings I set in Privacy Controls...Arg...

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong??? Somebody want to walk me through this?

Edit: I found a solution for this at the Oneplus forums...reposting here in case anyone else was having the same issue...
1) Open Settings/Security/Device administrotors, uncheck "Android Device Manager";
2) Open Settings/Apps/ALL, find and open "Google Play services", click "Uninstall updates", click "OK" if any prompt, to return the services to factory default version;
3) Restart phone;
4) After booting, some Google apps should prompt for Google Play service update, click the prompt to enter the store and update accordingly;
5) Open Settings/Security/Device administrotors, check "Android Device Manager";
6) Better restart the phone.

I think the key point of the solution is using one-step update for Google Play services, instead of accumulative update which may cause something wrong in some cases.

My phone is now "deep sleeping" as before...Play services is still using way too much battery but my phone is going into deep sleep now

I am not a super heavy user on my phone, I just use it for daily stuff, browsing the net, watching a little youtube, playing a game...
The first picture here is the battery life i had on my previous charge.
The next two screenshots are my settings from privacy guard plus my play service version. basically just turn everything off on playservice, and prevent location service from keeping the phone awake.

I just noticed that google play has "Wake up" my phone over 13,000 times....what the hell

It's amazing how long it's taking to get Lollipop on this phone.
Moto G Google play edition just got it on their phone. I don't see why it's so surprising it's not a nexus devices, make by a small company even if they are subsidiary of larger company. All I have read about Lollipops is nothing but problems I would rather have stable update than more problems.

The update will probably arrive in 2017, so much for their guaranteed 2 year support with updates.

People on the oneplus forums would like to beat the CEO up, lol

CM12 nightlies have been treating me just fine. Supposedly CM12.1 is around the corner, too.

The fact that they've shown us absolutely nothing about OxygenOS makes me think it'll suck.

I can't imagine it not sucking. They are going to give me a free back up phone if they want me to be tester for their Rom.

Did you do anything special with it?

Well, I was trying to fix the Google Play Services bug that had been draining my battery. I switched from Dalvik to ART hoping it would improve my battery life and get rid of the lag. Huge mistake, not only did the battery get worse, anytime I tried to charge the phone, it overheated. So I went back to Dalvik and not only was the lag gone but the battery life had improved dramatically.

Weird.. I get 2-3 days with ART. (And no batt issues)
BTW people with battery problems should also remember that the phone has 3 performance settings powersave/balanced/performance. Performance will drain you fast and make the phone hot, I just use balanced all the time.
