Oooh, Tzar: Burden of the Crown is just 99p. It was one of my favourite RTS games growing up, so I definitely recommend checking it out! It's kinda like a 2D Warcraft RTS with a few quirks.

Just got Luftrausers for $2.50 and Freedom Planet for $5.

This sale! I'll never have to buy PC games again after this!

Elminage:Gothic is less than the price of a sandwich right now... $2.50!!!

How's that Shadowgate remake?

It's much, much more than just a "remake."
It's "based on" the original game, but has a ton more in there beyond that.

I put $200 into it during the Kickstarter, and it was worth every penny.

At $2.29, it's an absolute must-buy.

Freedom Planet is a must buy. It is to the Genesis as to what Shovel Knight is to the NES. Very close to being my GOTY last year.

Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim is on sale, but I already have every other Ys games on Steam...

I know the sale is "over" but GOG sales always repeat. Ys VI is definitely the worst of the "modern" Ys games. Part of this is because it is the first Ys game to follow the action-RPG formula that was perfected by Origin and practice makes perfect and all that, but another part of it is that it just really isn't that good. The game's difficulty heavily fluctuates as it goes from being incredibly easy to very hard to going back to incredibly easy. There is also the fact that the setting the game takes place in isn't that appealing. It also has by far the worst music of all of the Ys games that I have played so far.

That said it definitely is the most "adventurey" of all of the modern Ys games of them all and it feels very "main-line" (if that's the right word). It is also more Ys so that's always good. Think of playing Ys VI as playing one of the worst mainline Final Fantasy or Zelda game. Bad for a Ys game, but it is still an Ys game so it is very enjoyable nonetheless.

Second the Freedom Planet recommendation. Haven't played Shovel Knight yet so I can't make that comparison, but it was an amazing Mega Drive-era throwback.

The actual game itself is the same either way.
The Special Edition just gets you some backgrounds and ringtones and stuff.

Your call if that's worth a couple extra dollars to you or not.

Aww, yeah, just unlocked my copy of Xenonauts.

Meaning that I already blew through my allotted games budget for the sale.

It's been ages since last time I played RollerCoaster Tycoon 2.

Think I'll get the Shadowgate remake, it looks really nice. I played the NES game years ago and it was great.

Seriously, if that is to you the weakest Ys soundtrack, it's still in the top 2% of VG OSTs, ya know?

I just got done with all 3 Ark Engine games and I found that this one is definately rawer than the others (the item or Catastrophe system is flaky due to how hard enemies hit being balanced for 9 healing items), but the level design is tight, the red-haired buzzsaw action is already there, and there's just enough narrative to keep you going without bogging you down in (rather good) chatter.

The platforming bundle is annoying because I own everything but Freedom Planet elsewhere and don't care to have them on GOG, but I want Freedom Planet, but then it wants me to pay twice as much as the price of it in the bundle... >__>

this, whats the difference? Shadowgate shows at 2.29 and the ED cost 4.99 but I am not sure what are the differences between the 2
8 Shadowgate Series Wallpapers+ 8 Grim Reaper Series Wallpapers+ 6 Shadowgate Classic Wallpapers+ Digital Map: The World of Shadowgate + Shadowgate Classic Hint Comic + Epic Orchestral Soundtrack (MP3) + NES Metal Mix + 13 Original NES Ringtones + Digital Book: The Art of Shadowgate + 2015 Shadowgate World Calendar

A.K.A. Digital swag, if you're the kind of person who cares about that stuff.

oh so that was the difference, since the other one had the shadowgate upgrade I was starting to think that maybe the not LE was missing some stuff or that maybe it was just the clasic game and the upgrade was needed to play the new version. Thanks

Meh, I got Freedom Planet anyway because it looks like they deserve it.

I really have to stop spending money now... unless Arx Fatalis goes on sale.

For anyone that's curious enough to experience the generic pile of crap that is Advent Rising, $1.19 is a fair price.

So Door Kickers is like Frozen Synapse? What was the indie game that was like a direct copy of Rainbow Six? I think it had a similar name.

Can someone explain GOG to me like I'm 5? I want to get Roller Coaster Tycoon in the sale (and Heroes of Might and Magic III in the future) but I don't have any permanent PC platform at the moment. Can I transfer the games between my computers? Do I have to install software on my computer to play them?

As long as you remember your log in and password, you can install the games on any PC. You don't need no client or anything to play them.

Edit: above explains it much better

I'm hoping Trails goes on sale. After all those XSeed announcements the other day I'm slightly interested in the Trails game.

---About gog - -also they make sure the installs and getting it running on modern PCs is hassle free. Very nice.

--- I'm really sad i somehow missed Lands of Lore going on sale. Please repeat. Please repeat.

--- i recently bought bard's tale on steam (which is where I'm playing it) and I'm trying to resist rebuying it just to have it on gog (which is where I'd have preferred it).

----Highly recommended right now:

Door Kickers for $5 -- like frozen synapse with a slightly more realistic take. Very nice waypointing/etc system for getting your commands down. Also some amount of 'free roam' action added it.

Bard's Tale for $2 - includes the 3rd person version, but also the trilogy. Originals are dated, obviously, but very playable (playing the first for the past few weeks). $2 for all that is a steal. I've got around 20 hours into the first one (bought it on steam recently), nostalgia overload.

Defender's Quest -- $2ish -- fantastic tower defense meets rpg. highly addictive. solidly balanced. fun.

Tales of Maj'Eyal -- under $2 --- a fantastic modern roguelike. very easy to get into, and extremely diverse classes that can have you beating the game as a solo shield and sword dude or a necromancer with an army of undead, and everything in between. Great sense of skill and lewt progression. Permadeath optional (but it's the only 'right' way to play, lol). I beat this a year or two ago and it's up there with my favorites of the genre -- it's still being worked on so the interface is more modern than most.

So Door Kickers is like Frozen Synapse? What was the indie game that was like a direct copy of Rainbow Six? I think it had a similar name.

Yes, it's similar to FS. Worth every penny at $5, I think I paid around $12 and was happy to do so.

EDIT -- QUESTION -- anyone know if I buy the expansion to Tales of Maj'Eyal on gog, can i install it to my steam version of the base game?

Total Annihilation: Kingdoms + Iron Plague

Seven Cities of Gold: Commemorative Edition

That reminds me, where the hell is One Must Fall 2097?

When GOG started, Epic had the "Epic Classics" brand (which as far as I know was literally Tim Sweeney's father mailing stuff out of his basement). That, however, no longer exists. Thus there is no business barrier for them to sign with GOG. I suspect what's more likely is that Tencent doesn't give a shit about making peanuts off Epic's catalogue.

Tim Sweeney's father no longer exists?

Or the basement no longer exists?

So much death...
to my budget

I bought way too many games guys.

Freedom Planet is amazing, I've been wanting to play it for awhile.

Haven't bought anything yet, kinda hoping for something to really jump at me to chime in on the buying craze.
Though, Vangers caught my eye if only for the weirdness of its screenshots. The reviews are also really interesting and kinda vague x_x I don't know what to make of this game.
Has anyone played it?

It was already on sale, it will probably go on sale again before the sale is over though, and it will almost definitely be on sale for 50% off during the Steam sale.

Welp... bored as fuck so I guess it's time to try some of these games I bought!

Is Gangsters: Organized Crime worth checking out?

And folks, listen to the other recommendations here and check out Door Kickers! It's excellent. A ton of content and depth, non-lethal tactics, multi-floor levels, customizable loadouts, trooper classes and squad upgrades, etc.

Gah, I had Seven Cities in my cart but forgot to checkout. Came back later this evening and back to $6. Ah well, next sale.
