Given how I have to deal with stuff like this on a local Board of Adjustment at times, this kind of decision really only serves to stifle towns rather than foster growth. And I think tan-shirt man is too chicken-shit to go with the spirit of the city code/ordinance and instead wants to take the letter of it to absurd conclusions.

Yeah this is some behind the scenes stuff, I can't even believe that they'd let a husband and wife on there, that goes to show the agenda there.
It's the LA area.
Space that suits your needs and is affordable enough to become profitable is not growing on trees.
It's the planning commission, not the council. Watson would have to appeal to Council and not them. Not sure if that improves his chances, though.

Their brothers are on the police force too. The family is established for 100yrs+, so a lot of under the table and back handshakes are usually involved in local politic.

i hope watson at the very least started looking at other cities. it's not like these guys looked like they were going to change their minds the last time. there really is no reason to keep trying to get this location if they are going to fight you every time you have to get your yearly permit.

Well the current owner is probably wanting to rent out to smaller business. Someone else has their eye on it for condos or somemshit 10 years down the road. Or a big retail chain.
They are choking out the current owner and stonewalling any development in hopes that they give up and sell the land to someone else who can make more money and pay the council to make it happen.
It really is. There isnt shit to do there except go to the lake. Woohoo

For the record, Watson has mentioned that music games make a large percent of his revenue. He went out of his way to acquire some rare ass music arcades back when they lost it all with the closure of FFA.
