"Constructive criticism is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one. The purpose of constructive criticism is to improve the outcome. In collaborative work, this kind of criticism is a valuable tool in raising and maintaining performance standards.

Constructive criticism must always focus on the work rather than the person. Personality issues must always be avoided. Constructive criticism is more likely to be embraced if the criticism is timely, clear, specific, detailed and actionable.[1][2]

Especially sensitive individuals may adopt a passive, defeated attitude if they view a situation as personal, pervasive, or permanent (see learned helplessness). Others may adopt an aggressive response. In an online forum lacking face-to-face contact, constructive criticism is rare. People criticize the style of writing and grammar, and based on that often make assumptions about the person. They write without consideration for how their opinion will be received, which is not consistent with the idea of constructive criticism. Effective interpersonal communication skills can be helpful to assess the recipient's frame of mind.

Adopting the most effective style of criticism should be tempered by the cultural context, the recipient's personality, and nature of the relationship between provider and recipient. To assess a situation, one should put out exploratory feelers and adopt a perceptive rather than judgmental attitude; conflict resolution skills can be helpful.

As a recipient of criticism, one can benefit by focusing on the constructive elements of the criticism and by attributing charitable interpretations to those who use strong language. By adopting an open attitude to criticism, one may achieve greater personal development and help uncover blind spots. Alternatively, such openness may be subjected to ridicule especially in a cynical or honor-based culture." -Wikipedia-

This is how I know some of you literally do not care. If you are actually passionate about gaming and our culture then you should be trying to help improve it instead of poison it. You can be better than this. You know who you are.

I wonder why MS keeps making these stealth ads which they claim are "just for fun" when they dont have marketing for a big game.
I guess Black Ops 3 is next. Cant wait too see Nelson wall running in that video. MS really should leave other companies exlusives deals alone and focus on there own.

Own an xbox, im posting this message on my ms surface as well, but that was awful. Just terribly unfunny. Implying that folks wouldn't dig it because of those reasons was sad. Some folks just don't dig bad comedy.

Glad a few of you enjoyed this little piece they asked me to shoot when I was in Germany last week.

I know some of you will hate it (because you dislike me, Xbox, Microsoft or a combination of the three) but we were just having a bit of fun.

I'll take my light saber and show myself out.

great response.

Major has gotten better since Microsoft ate the whole humble pie. Last gen he was on his Reggie/Sid Shuman, "This is a pile of shit is great because it came from my company." I can at least listen when he talks now. I can't say the same for Reggie or Sid.

Major, a lot of people might not like it simply because they may not have found it to be very well done or particularly funny lol. No need to take it personally. That said, I'm all for people doing stupid weird videos, so if you enjoyed doing it, why the hell not?

Also got to meet Larry at E3. Very great and genuine guy in my eyes. So he takes his job seriously and wants to make the company he represents look good at all times. It's not a sin. It won't always be done in the best or most clever of ways, and satisfying everyone is next to impossible, but I think his enthusiasm for the games and the fans are unmistakably legit, and when you have an opportunity to engage him directly and interact with the guy (especially when the cameras are off) you really can't help but come away with a very positive vibe. People may not buy it, but he actually listens to what you have to say and takes it seriously. He's not trying to somehow hurry you along because he has something better to do, at least that was my experience.

My exchange with him, Phil, Aaron Greenberg, Chris Munson (one of the primary organizers for the fanfest events at E3) and a couple other guys at Xbox regarding Hironobu Sakaguchi and games like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey and what I felt they meant to the Xbox platform as a gamer who had never seriously given xbox a chance until I saw those games announced, was very revealing in a good way. Maybe they're just that damn good, but I felt like the conversations I had with them all, including Larry, are things that they took very seriously. I even got confirmation from Phil himself that Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are things he's been pushing to ensure are backward compatible on the Xbox One. He even called someone over who didn't hear our conversation just to have me repeat what I just said to him without phil saying anything, and the reaction of the other guy told the story. Those games are the subject of much internal debate. I didn't get any confirmation of any games on the way, or any specific timeframes or anything like that, and that was specifically pointed out so as to not get my hopes too high. But even then, as a fan, it was amazing to hear that those kinds of games haven't been forgotten. They may not respond to every little thing said to them via sites like twitter, but I now know firsthand just how passionate they are about this stuff, and that they're paying attention to a lot more than we all think.

I think the major issue that some have with Larry is that they somehow believe he's not authentic or that he's just feigning enthusiasm for a lot of this stuff, but that couldn't be any further from the truth based on my experience meeting him.

I thought the video was stupid. Clearly that means I hate you/MS/Xbox even though I'm an Xbox Live Gold subscriber and own an XB1 and currently use it more than my PS4.

Or maybe it's just that the video is bad.

So this is what you're doing when you don't have marketing deals for the big hitters? Making some dumb homemade fan movies with unfunny dialogs and references that nobody understand (AC who?). Reminds me of Family Guy. I fucking hate Family Guy

I don't mind Major, the backlash he got during the Don Mattrick era should be forgotten. The guy is just doing his job and had to agree and put on a front that whole time because that's what he was told to do, like any employee in that position.

Keep up the work Major!

I'm HUUUUUUUUUUGELY biased in favour of Microsoft and I don't like this video at all.

I do like the Xbox UK videos with the British lady though (@hownottodraw is her twitter handle I think - she's in the middle of this Star Wars video).

I did like the "No, not Nintendo, I love those guys"-part, but the rest of the video was painful to watch.

Declasse. Microsoft's desperate need to circumvent these exclusive marketing deals is pretty gross. Last gen Sony never lowered themselves to trying to do an end run around Microsoft's contracts.

Or maybe they weren't smart enough to think to try.

Anyway, are you arguing against the (albeit a bit hypocritical) mockery of something that most people on this forum think is bullshit?

This thread delivered big time.

Statham has to be the biggest masochist to keep making threads that go in this direction.

More like cheerleader. He seems to have a strong urge to constantly provide free advertising for Microsoft, even with his avatar, which he changed to Tomb Raider the minute this "exclusive" was announced.

Back on topic, Larry Hryb is doing a job he is being paid for. He is playing a role in public, much like Lambert did for Sony. Why would anyone hate him for that? I don't.
The video was cringeworthy all on its own.

Such a darling to keep track of such things <3

I like how he's smiling the whole time. It somehow seems more in character.

...hard to disagree with that, yep. I feel like some people came off as personally insulted by the video. It's weird.

But you don't come out and say "you just hate it because ______!", ya know? Shit, this ain't Citizen Kane
of videogames
Agreed. The acting and hit detection is more convincing in Dynasty Warriors.

Didn't have a problem with the video (not sure who A.C. Bongos is, another Microsoft host I guess), but it's a little weird to say it wasn't an ad, when the text slapped on the end about EA Access on Xbox makes it one. They may have set out to just make a silly video, but someone along the line did turn it into an advertisement.

They aren't allowed to say it's an ad because they can get sued. It's clever in that sense.

That said, we should be able to call them out on the fact that yes, they tried to make this an ad. I'm sure they had fun making it, but at the end of the day, this is still basically an ad to a game they aren't allowed to market.

That's my little rant on the situation at least.

No offense meant, but it just didn't strike much of a comedic chord with me. That said, I can greatly appreciate that you were willing to participate and put yourself out there. It's commendable.
