Part of me was thinking that with this deal, Yacht Club may have been offered some Ninty exclusivity deal?

Aw yes! Love that 3rd party amiibos are happening (not counting smash amiibos obviously), first the skylanders, now shovle knight, at this point i guess Yooka-Laylee Amiibos are a lock.

Being a playable character in smash is a big deal. I don't think they would just sell shovel knight as is, rather than promoting the fact. Most I can agree to is that it doesn't necessarily cancel a future appearance. But right now looks like it's just a amiibo.

I'm not sure this actually says anything about the Shovel Knight in Smash murmurs. Tamaki's sources didn't specify that the Amiibo announcement was the main crux of the argument and even though this isn't a Smash branded Amiibo it might still have been compatible. That said, this was generally the more likely thing to happen and is still pretty huge in terms of indie.

Again, since this happens every single time in these threads, the content is being made specifically for people who buy amiibo. It's content that would not exist if amiibo didn't exist.

There's no shortage of other free content coming to Shovel Knight, not to mention the almost year of exclusivity the game had on Nintendo platforms (excluding PC).

Well...the problem is that Sony and MS have free exclusive content on their platforms with no strings attached. Nintendo doesn't.

They mentioned the idea that a Shovel Knight Amiibo could be legit but is just for the Wii U & 3DS versions of Shovel Knight to unlock exclusive content. That would make sense. And why would retailers know about content that's sold exclusively on the eShop?

Binding of Isaac amiibo or bust! CommanderVideo would be great as well, though I'd personally prefer the 2D sprite appearance to the 3D one they chose for Runner 2.

Forgot about that. Was just thinking about the cross-over content that PS4 and XBO are getting. I guess when you put it that way the Nintendo versions have way more exclusive content. My bad.
