In a way, I'm relieved - Australia may not have chalked up enough Eurovision 'history' to deserve a win just yet - second, and winning the jury vote, is nothing to sneeze at, and politically, finishing second is perhaps more fitting in the end. Happy!

Again, just genuinely very pleased to be able to be a small part of the Eurovision family, it's terrific fun.

What state the country is in? Pease tell me. I was in Ukraine last year and a year before. You can say exactly the same thing about Russia by this logic....

If russia had won I would ask the same question >_>. And it was a genuine question, that I hoped someone with knowledge would answer. So no need for this behaviour from you.

Man, I just heard it holy shit, "They come to your house and kill" wtf. I thought ESC songs would be more "happy". Also what language did she use beside english?

Time to listen to what australia was about.

Ukraine was over the top dramatic in a contest already filled with cliché dramatic power ballads. Couldn't help but burst out laughing. Just cashing in on the current political climate.

Next Eurovision we all will ask ourselves: "THAT song won last year?!"

Obviously I like Ukraine song quite a lot because of what it stands for. But you can ask yourself the same questions bout 90% of songs that win Eurovision. Not going to lie, this is mostly about presentation of the song and politics, but it still feels very good to win :)

See? Poland being one of the favourites is the kind of weirdness that only Eurovision is capable of.

It was the one song people who aren't into contemporary music voted for.

A Crimean Tartar signing about Russian persecution isn't dramatic its a fact of life that they are reliving again in 2016 as Russia brutalizes the Crimean Tartar population all over again

I voted Bulgaria and Ukraine, happy with that. Don't understand the hate but I thought it was an innovative use of a classic garage style beat and an actual heartfelt song rather than all the other dross.

You can put your political jury voting deep in the ass.
Jury:
Poland - 7

People:
Poland - 222

Let's be honest here, these were all emigrants voting for "their" team. Imagine if [soccer] World Cup results were decided by vote with similar "self-voting prevention" clause... that would be hilarious. The knockout participants would be Poland/Israel/Vietnam/Russia/ISIS/China/etc. No matter what.

I did not watch this year's show so I refuse to comment on the songs. The one time I tried I was not a target audience of any of them.

If this were the case, Austrian televoters would have sent far more points to Germany, former yugoslavian countries and hungary.
the 8, 10 and 12 points from Austria went to POL, RUS and UKR.

The capital of Ukraine is safer than some US cities. The conflict is very localized. There shouldn't be any security concerns.

I'm already getting tons of salt from some (Greek) family members over the phone lol.

A Greek helped writing the Russian song and since Greece was terrible I guess they saw the Russian entry as their own.

Well. Pech.
