Furries or not, I'm always there for a new Hosoda film. One of the best
/few good
working anime directors.

Loving the family theme; reminds me of summer wars except on a smaller scale, I assume it will be more focused this time around at least, can't wait for Hosada to save anime.:D

I don't really think it's going to be anything like Summer Wars based on what Hosoda said. This actually sounds more like a Takahata Ghibli movie with fantasy elements than anything else. I hope that doesn't mean I'll hate it!

Not to worry, Hosoda is a better director than Takahata.

I am half-joking.

Well, if it's anything like a Takahata project then my hype levels will go through the roof!

I like his movies more than Takahata movies anyway. So I'll agree!
You disappoint me.

Character Design: Yoshiyuki Sadamoto
Animation Director: Takaaki Yamashita
Art Director: Hiroshi Oono

So it looks like Hosoda's new studio is confirmed, and Madhouse has another 10 nails in its coffin. Lol.

So to add to this,

I don't have time to do the whole thing but this article talks about how Hosoda and Yuuichi Sato (producer for Summer Wars and Piano no Mori) built the studio and how they said it was "a very small studio, the best form to make good works"

They're still in the process of VA auditions with an eye on a summer release next year. They also plan on making the film festival tours.

Hosoda says that he likes kids and he got jealous of his friend who has kids so this movie was a way for him to express his love. (It's actually kinda similar to how/why Miyazaki makes movies about kids as well)

This almost feels like it could be Hosoda's Totoro, to me. Based entirely on nothing other than the picture and synopsis, of course, but that's the kind of vibe it is giving me.

Totoro did not span 13 years.

Well obviously. I'm not saying it's going to be the same movie or anything. It's just the focus on a small family with two kids, and the rural setting in the image, plus the magical/fantasy elements that made me think of it.

No posts from Ookami-kun? Very weird given this is A) a furry film, and B) a film directed by Mamoru Hosoda, a man who's done a fair share of good work on the Digimon franchise.

I'm sort some segment of the movie might have Totoro moments, but I'm going to say the tone and objective of the movie seems totally different from anything Totoro has. Remember, the main character here are not the kids, but the 19 year old girl who will grow up into a woman and a mother. She'll be 32 by the time the movie ends, and her kids will have grown up into their early teens.

I think you're reading too much into my comment, it was more of just a general feeling than anything analytical.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Hopefully the wolf guy is 100% bara.

Oh if you meant it was going to be a show with a loli and a shota, and there would be magical furry elements, then absolutely!

Of course.

I was also thinking about Miyazaki's early career at Ghibli and how he followed up a couple of big-scale films with a "smaller," more focused work, that still felt grand in scale due to his talent as a fantasy storyteller.

Basically just thinking crap out loud since it's months away and we know next to nothing about it so far.

Nah. It would be cool if Hosoda got to the point where he was on par with Takahta, but it's not like they're even that close stylistically.

I really liked The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, felt Summer Wars was decent... Rose tinted glasses for his Digimon stuff, I guess I'm kinda interested where he could take this. The wolf romance is just... Ack though. At least we might get some good looking wolf animation

So does this qualify as pedo furry material? Will be tough to get a proper rating in states anyway no expectations here going in blank. Should be decent

I think what this show qualifies as will depend a lot on the mindset of the person watching it. Lol.

You shouldn't need rose tinted glasses for his Digimon stuff, considering it's his best work.

How furry is this movie going to be? VERY FURRY.

And here's a HD screengrab of EXTREME furry: http://i.imgur.com/Uvrqr.jpg (Warning: Might not be safe for work or anyone, friends might disown you after clicking this.)

oh i assumed they would be like regular anime cat girls or something with just an ear and tail..didnt think they actually transformed into animals and back

im still interested in this as the family theme sounds great, but that last shot was just weird :x
