Finally, justice has been served.

Did Little Busters get better? Show was really boring when I watched the first couple of episodes.
Well, it got "better" and by that i mean it's now a billion times more hilariously brain dead and insane than it was in the beginning. Basically...
It got more KEY.
this.

You guys should try this with your MPC-HC players, there's a anime option for it. Big difference...oh man, think of the Sakugas you can watch with it. I'm still fiddling around it.

This isn't much of a surprise as well, but again, it had the perfect ending to cap off a really decent season so I'm good.
What? No. I fucking hated the ending.
They don't even show her pushing the button! It's just implied, it literally ends as her finger's reaching for it.

I can't even imagine why they wouldn't outright show it, I can only fathom two possibilities:

a) There's a chance, somehow that she doesn't actually hit the button for some reason. I don't believe this to be the case as Jonah's final monologue implies that he is wandering around the "new world" with Koko.

b) They don't want to directly show the act that's supposed to kill 10s of thousands of people for some silly reason despite it apparently being canon.

I guess an improbable 3rd option is they ran out of budget to animate one more second?

Anyways, it made me mad.

Chocolate roses? I don't know if this is delicious or gross. Surely they would melt quickly at room temperature?
Sonic sez "don't let strangers touch you in weird places", too!
I'm not sure what you mean. Space bros and chihayafuru had a lot of atmospheric music and variations on a theme, but they were not all one single track.
tsk tsk that's the joke

The game wasn't nearly as well-received as Steins;Gate, even though the sales were pretty decent.

Well after first half of the series it doesn't surprise me that reception for the game was not as good as for Steins;Gate. Still I think that series would deserve more sales. It's not that bad. Steins;Gate was just fucking awesome.

That exposition actually ends up mattering, beyond ep5. Long term ramifications... kinda like the tradition of white guilt.
So it's the Lincoln of anime?

Aw, when I saw the ad on TV I thought it'd be perfect for Firehawk :< What about Elementary?
There's current two other Canadian SyFy shows, not counting the ones filmed in Toronto be set in fake-America (like Warehouse 13). They're all so... inoffensive and bland though. lol

Elementary is a brain dead CBS procedural with Lucy Liu, so I watch it for what it is. They finally introduced Moriarty though, so it looks like the show is ready to go there now.

I haven't seen Beasts of the Southern Wild, but I'll take your word for it that SSY doesn't tell its story as well as an Oscar-nominated film.

Personally, I think the story really hits its stride at Episode 8. That's when the show starts addressing what it means to live in that society, and the forces that make it the way it is. The way they've been building off that in recent weeks has been really interesting to watch, and I think you'll appreciate the stuff it does well.

Having a better story than the Ur-Legend is certainly a low bar, but it sounds to me like you want a sci-fi story where the meat of it is less tied up in the mythos of the setting, and more related to the current struggles of the characters in that setting's particular environment. I can see then why Episode 4 would have set off alarm bells, but the exact historiography of slave kingdoms and scientists hasn't been referenced since. I could be wrong, but I think it's worth moving forward.
I suppose the joke is that my favorite post-apocalyptic science fiction show is Aria, since it's just set in Japanese-Venice. lol
But it works inasmuch as I'm thrown into the setting and I don't really care why Earth is so fucked up that they would take the expense of moving Venice to Mars in order to preserve it.
But yeah, I just want to be in a world and not be distracted by information that is there for information's sake. The teasers that showed scenes from the past out of context were a warning sign to me in that regard anyway.
That's not to say I'm against that type of exposition - assuming there's a form of censorship on the history in the world of SSY (I can't even remember if that's the case), there's potential for interesting conflict there. Human beings managed to find many ways to kill each other based on magical beings that live in the clouds for thousands of years, so it's not like I don't believe it can't happen anyway. I probably don't need a 20 minute lecture on Christianity in order to watch Kingdom of Heaven though.

To be honest, I do feel like giving it another shot given some of the posts I've read here. Certainly something like the shitty protagonist in Pet Girl technically offends me more than episode 4 of SSY, but since romcoms require very little brain space (and are infinitely scrubbable), I'm willing to go through the motions with one and not the other.

It's why I still don't know if I should watch Lindelof's Prometheus anyway. lol

What? No. I fucking hated the ending.

So I posted about the finale in the... previous season's thread, I think. And it's been a while so I can't remember all of my thoughts, but the reason I thought it worked was because the entire first cour and the first half of the second cour, namely the "anthology" part of the series, essentially played out the consequences of war and the myriad of possibilities that war and a peace held at gunpoint can bring. If we believe Fallout and agree that "war, war never changes", then everything that happens after Koko pushes the button is fait accompli.

I'm sure I had more interesting thoughts about the Jormungand arc way back when. lol
Edit: yeah, basically said the same thing when I first watched it.

Well I've been enjoying it (though its my first Key thing), but being recently spoiled to later bits has me going 'thats just stupid' and questioning whether I'll continue watching.

Ah, in that case I would have told you to stop before you even begun, stupid shit that artificially tries to manipulatively evoke emotion through idiotic supernatural means is what it means when someone says "It got more KEY." it's a trademark of sorts.

Things will only get more stupid.

Is it just me or did the CG look way better than usual? Either way, it's about damn time they actually explained what the deal is with those Special Appeals the show loves to pull out every now and then.

"When we grow up… We'll kill him together". Koichi, Taisuke, and Shizuna are three siblings whose parents had been brutally murdered when they were just in elementary school, and they vowed to avenge their death. Fourteen years later, their vengeful plan unravels countless new facts. A shocking revelation leads to an overwhelmingly emotional ending. What will become of the siblings who have lived their lives solely in reliance of their bond alone?
So, the synopsis makes it seems like it will be a dark/supense thingy but actually a ton of situations are really funny. The childhood flashback are really sad though. Like, REAAAAAALLY sad.
The three siblings swindle people in order to earn some money but one of their targets turns out to be the son of the man who killed their parents years ago.
And... that was the end of the fourth episode so I don't know what happens next!!! Need to continue it asap.
Koichi, the older brother is great. He writes the scenarios for the swindles, which are introduced as a movie within the drama (like with credit rolls and all that thing, the targets introduce themselves to the viewers...). Then his siblings become the actors of his crazy scenarios. His brother and sister always think he's a creep since his plans are ridiculously well-written.
I have to say, the cast is great. Toda Erika from the Liar Game drama + Ninomiya Kazunari from Freeter Ie wo Kau... Since I watched these two dramas beforehand I was so excited to see them together.

This is a great drama that I thoroughly enjoyed. The story is based off a book by a super prolific and famous writer. If you like this show, you should also try Galileo, Shinzanmono and Byakuyakou. The first 2 are procedurals while the last is a human drama and is one of the most famous novels ever.

Yes I know the Imas CG CDs aren't anime but it's fun to see them chart.

Reminder that the main reason that these sell the numbers they do is because they're ludicrously cheap by Japanese CD standards, and they come with special unlock codes for the actual game.

It's obvious which is the superior idol franchise.
And to think, those are just the spinoffs.

Tamako Market's OP is as forgettable as they get. Not surprised there.
I think it's pretty sweet and I usually only find about one OP or ED a season catchy. It also has a trumpet playing bird in a tophat. Not many anime can boast about that.

Why choose when you can have them all? And it's guilt free since you are "ordered" to marry all of them and they all happen to inexplicably love you. lol
The weird thing is that he somehow ends up with 8 wives in the final scene of the show. Pro-tier harem protag.
Those are some quality wives.

I wish someone had the story of why Mitsudomoe S2 was canceled though. They committed to a two cour show and managed to animate 8 episodes before pulling the plug. Given that they were only a few episodes away from the end of the season, at what point in the production pipeline did they just decide to kill it?
Because the world is a horrible place. :( Of course it means there'll never be any figures to buy.

What's Google?
A place so horrible it could corrupt his fragile mind!

Damn those Robotic;notes sales. I thought that the fans of the game would buy the series.
Considering you can get the game for the same price as two episodes, I can't say I'm really surprised. I know which I'd rather have, much as it's a solid enough adaptation. It didn't generate the same level of popularity that Steins;Gate did either, so I guess people are just content with having the game and watching the anime once.

The fact people were actually willing to pay money for the Chaos;Head anime is shocking though. That was probably the most insulting anime adaptation I've ever seen.

----

Speaking of dumb SyFy, I skipped around through Tenchi Muyo GXP for some odd reason. I suppose they found a clever way to solve the harem problem:

I think anime has fucked me up so much that I honestly don't know if this kind of ending is better or worse than the harem shit that's been on the air these last few seasons.

(It's certainly a more genuine ending that SAO's let's give them a month before we jump Kirito ending. :p)

i think it's better when a show provides you an ending like that . Marrying for political & economical purposes is much better than a " choose one , let the others cry " or a " not choose " attitude.

It still sounds pretty impossible if you've ever gone searching for Precure fanart even once :lol Sunshine is everywhere, for obvious reasons.

Only Precure fanart I've seen so far is Tima's most recent works, which has been focused on Smile. :lol

It's actually quite possible if you just use common sense and avoid looking at fanart for shows that have already finished.

I just realised I never got round to watching the extra episodes. Guess I should finish it off to say I completed it even if I thought it was so-so.

The biggest issue with the series is Taichi but I have a feeling I know where the author is going with him and there is going to be some major payoff down the road. That said, the show is amazingly good in two fields, one being character development and the other is drama. I think Tonari is better directed but the core writing in Kokoro is stronger.

Potpourri is the best. In general I find the fairies in Heartcatch to not be annoying like in other shows, pooping seeds aside.

Same here. Candy from Smile wasn't too bad though.

luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuulz Did you seriously NOT see it coming?

Suite crushed my hopes and dreams by not making Waon a Precure. I figured this would be another case of them ignoring cool characters and did not want to get my hopes up.

Why did you take so long to watch this show? From here to the finale it's pure unadulterated awesome.

After doing a back to back of Suite and Fresh while watching the weekly Smile I kinda burnt myself out and had to take a short break. I'm back on it now though!

Look at all this cast ! There are 2 errors in this picture, will you be able to find them all?

i could be envious if everyone didn't have such a strong personality + madao but still ..momo from "to love-ru darkness" would be proud ..

VERDICT : AWESOME

This is what made Suite so ridiculous. There's only one girl in the class (maybe the whole show?) with
blue hair, and they go and make a completely different character, whose theme color is purple, into the blue Cure.
You can't make predictions on such flimsy basis anymore! (...Though I guess Heartcatch is from before Suite, but still.)

This show routinely executes on such a high level. It makes everything else seem pretty amateurish.

I feel like I'm saying the same things about what it does well week after week, which means it's consistent at delivering realistic middle-school drama and gender identity issues handled with appropriate gravity. It's packed with strong attention to detail, which shows itself well in scenes like when the teacher calls for volunteers. We understand the progression because we can see how everyone in class reacts to each moment.

iZaHra9qoheKe.jpg

Nitori 'confesses' here from inside a bathroom stall! Symbolism because it's a box he's trapped in the closet his feelings still can't really reach Tatsuki, even though she's supporting the play.

Oddly, though, I'm not loving it as much as I'd expect. I don't hate it by any means, but I still feel at a slightly greater distance from it than I thought I would. I don't think I'd want the show to do anything differently, though.
