Winter of Anime 2013 |OT -5| This is stupid, kayos90 sucks!

I looked it up on Amazon and was shocked. Assuming there are only two parts it's only £20 for the pair. Reasonably priced anime. Why I never.

Considering it's basically 12 5 minutes youtube flash clips, it's amazing they aren't trying to sell it any higher.

Lots of stupid stuff though.

(for example:
should we be so deliriously optimistic as to actually expect a compelling explanation for the various arbitrary tasks one is supposed to go through in order to unlock the Kimijima-Reports-that-detail-how-a-shadowy-organization-intends-to-murder-billions-of-people-no-biggie, or are we simply not supposed to be thinking about that?
)
Maybe he just likes fucking with people? I never really concern myself with semantics of the trivial. You could probably find a reasonable explanation, like trying to discourage those who aren't really that interested but it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

I think I understand now why people don't like Yayoi. She and Yukiho really tend to have major bouts of self-pity, which really magnifies the disparity between them and the rest. Good on Takane for going up to Yukiho and telling her to stop feeling bad for herself and get some resolve. And good on Haruka for increasing the whole group's morale. She was kinda behind as well, but her optimism and resolve makes her an asset, not a liability.

I think I'm gonna take a break from this show for a bit.

I think you are being too harsh on it. It feels like another episode of the show featuring a filler character, except with the sakuga to back it up.

And awesome Parisian-themed Studio Pablo backgrounds *swoon*

I thought it was a pure joy to watch. It's one of the few installments in the time-tested "annual film to milk a lucrative and long-running Toei franchise" genre that isn't braindead and formulaic.

I always assumed it was their way of trying to show how much of
a life he had. I have a feeling they'll explain more between Aki's nee-san and store lady once we get closer to the end. Those two are pretty major hanging threads right now.

Anko is <3.

It's Azusa before she decided to be Mio Jr and lame.

Interesting theory. There's certainly still a lot of questions unanswered in this crazy show.

Have at it, people, and do try to act surprised:

AWW YEAH K-ON!! Honestly, I was worried it wouldn't make it, but it pulled through after all. I thought notAnimeGAF would've taken it off but it has fans outside of AnimeGAF too. I'm so happy! ;_;
In other news, animated bunny girls make for good novel sales.
So that's 100k+ sales per volume? If I remember light novel sales correctly (I don't), that's pretty amazing.

Apparently there was a comparison on 2ch made about this. Ultimatemegax posted the info on the Mania forums (It's weird that I keep quoting him all the time, but I follow him on Twitter, so...).

With this week's novel sales data coming out from Oricon, Mondaiji-tachi got a pretty good boost in sales after the first anime episode. How does it compare to some earlier LN adaptations? Someone on 2ch compiled a list of sales after only the first episode aired of recent LN adaptations and I calculated the percent increase we can attribute to the first episode. This list is sorted in ascending sales post episode 1.
Code:
First week sales Total sales after week 1 Title Percent increase
*6292 *23788 Durarara!! 35.96250572
*7324 *35222 Mondaiji 26.25277798
*5430 *49169 Horizon 12.41454994
*9031 *62167 Nyaruko 16.99601024

*7957 215363 SAO *3.83643675
*8067 250086 Haganai *3.33320938
Durarara!! definitely takes the cake for increased sales (and rode it to over 100,000 for the first volume, but surprisingly Mondaiji-tachi is second, even besting the amazing increases for BakaTest and Hyouka. Given that it's a Kadokawa title, meaning high prices and likely to get a quick BD-Box release in the minds of fans, BD/DVD sales might not be high. This could be the way fans support the series. LN v8 will also come with an OVA this July so that'll also be interesting to track.

It's interesting to think about some of the data on this chart. The Oreimo, SAO, and Haganai results aren't too surprising considering that their franchises were popular before the anime. In comparison, shows like Hyouka, Mondaiji, and IS have seen larger boosts from their anime because they weren't as popular before the anime aired. I don't know what happened with Durarara though, lol. I thought it was popular before, so I have no idea what to make of that.

To be honest, I don't really know how to interpret the data too well. The "First Week Sales" column goes against my common sense.

Never forget:

And the only reason I have that theory is just because of some of the
requirements. To me anyways, it seems like a series of love letters to someone's past, where they could reminisce about all the good ol' times. We had the rocks on the beach with the cave, go karting, and even running a fast lap at high school.

Everything that was tagged makes me think of someone who cared about their past enough that they wanted to get someone else to love or appreciate the life they lived.

Yeah. He's actually a cool dude, I just thought it was really funny that someone I knew would post that on facebook when we were getting into SAO meta-shitting.

Oh yeah, I had the same thing happen to me and it was funny for me too. When they were talking about how epic the last episode was, I kinda just smiled. I didn't watch it so I can't judge myself, but the contrast between AnimeGAF and my friends in that conversation was amusing.

Hooooly shit.

Wait, so
does that mean the Desert Generals, Sasorina, Kumojacky, and Cobraja are just wilted heart flowers that left their real bodies to take forms of their own?

Man, great episode. Like I said before, I really fucking love it when even the villains look out for one another. That sense of comradery even when they're people doing evil shit just gives me the warm fuzzies.

It's why I enjoy talking with my friends about anime, because they don't have such skewed views, don't know studios, staff or animators, or constantly call shows shit, etc. They just like to watch something that is entertains them, and that makes it really easy to talk with them about shows when every conversation isn't an uphill battle of tastes and opinions, and they make me realize not to take things so seriously all the time.

A bunch of them actually came to me last year asking me about Fate/Zero and Darker than Black because they had the kind of action they were interested in. I even found a friend who watched the original Jojo that was surprised they were making a new one and decided to start watching this one.

I know this doesn't quite accurately describe the Desertrian trio, but punch-clock villains are a trope that I never, ever get tired of. I think it has something to do with watching Venture Bros. as a teenager and finding Henchmen 21 and 24 really endearing.

Fate Zero had a 1 season break during the winter season, because the second half was in Spring it was "easier" to consider it a 2012 title because of this.

Not that that's an out and out excuse, but it does happen to shows in winter now and again that had started in the year prior.

Case in point Chihayafuru. I have no doubt it would have made it into the top 10 if it had aired over the summer/fall.

I need to start the dub to hear how it sounds but unless they left Itadakimasu untranslated in eng dub then I probably wont say its an awesome dub cause thats my favorite part. For the subs, I find it out that honorifics are translated. Livebearer-sama.

Anyway fun episode even if that creepy moment.
