Every week I end up at a loss of words to describe just what this show's like and every week I pretty much fall back on just how carefree it is.

JUST

LIKE

THE

WIND (no, not that wind)

Ahh, it really is one of the best shows I've watched in recent memory. I feel like I could get swept away at any moment by just how lovely it is.

Jormungand 2nd Season-

Why can't the art be this good all the time?

Well this sure as shit was better than last season. Like god damn this was an improvement. There was a strong overarching narrative and even the mini arcs were good. The mini arcs focused on individual characters in Koko's crew and give it a stronger emotional component and also helped to flesh out the crew. They actually started to give the audience reasons as to why they should care for these characters. While Valmet was the main focus in season 1, I think the show worked much better when avoiding the drama surrounding her and not letting it drag on for so long with some of the other characters.

The animation and directing were pretty much shit again. All the heavy action scenes were the worst part of the show. It's really a shame because if the manga had been given to a more capable studio like Madhouse back in the day then this show could really have been something special. I mean the scene with
Seal Team Nine could have been amazing if this had been directed better
. I had a huge problem with the character designs, mainly due to the damn eyebrows but the characters could look really nice in serious moments.

That said, I liked the overall message of the show and it certainly wasn't as naive or full of bullshit that most anime and manga seem to be. It directly confronted some heavy themes and the speech by Kasper at the end was gutting. He proceeded to dissemble the plan right in front of her and it was truly an amazing speech. I also have to applaud the mangaka for when knowing not to show something and the ending is a perfect example of that. I was getting serious Watchmen vibes at the end and I think the show did a fine job with the material.

All in all, I'm really surprised how the show turned out as I was pretty disappointed with the first season.

P.S.
America all the way!

Whoa. The Captain Harlock CG movie is really happening!

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qw6yApBMH2U&feature=player_embedded

Toei announced on Thursday that its film remake of Leiji Matsumoto's Space Pirate Captain Harlock anime will open this fall. Toei made the announcement during its Tokyo unveiling of its film lineup.

Writer Harutoshi Fukui (Mobile Suit Gundam UC novels, live-action Bōkoku no Aegis) reconstructed the story to reflect the themes of modern society, and Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed) is directing with the latest filmmaking technology. According to the news source Oricon, this film has Toei Animation's highest production budget ever at the equivalent of over 30 million U.S. dollars.

Erika should really look into doing puppet shows as a part time job after her Precure duties are over.
That's the way to do it!

Finally quoted and both times for the show I loved to hate. I seem to be getting more associated with it than Kayos.

Also I hope people remembered to skip over my jokes votes. Wouldn't want those to interfere with the results.

Saki Side A Episode 14

Is anyone else having a hard time keeping track of who the protagonist actually is in this series (especially after the long break)? I'm wondering if I have a short attention span of if this is an inherent weakness in the writing/character design. I don't ever remember having this hard of a time even with large casts in other animes.
The protagonist is obviously Saki and her sidekick A. Anyone can work that out dummy.

Sword Art Online clearly has a sizeable budget but I'm not sure they put their money to the best use with how inconsistent it is, not to mention all the ugly CGI.
But that CGI Skeleton thing puts most Pixar films to shame.

??? I was remembering something I had read and i remembered it wrong. Sorry that I happen to remember it differently than what was. We're not all perfect like you.
Usually when you are unsure it's best to double check the fact before posting.

So there was some Azunyan vs Anko talk earlier and I just wanted to briefly chime in on that. I don't think this is a fair comparison - in fact, I'm not even sure that I see the comparison. While they are both arguably adorable, Akno is still just a kid. Azunyan, on the other hand, is a fully grown woman. But her appeal isn't just in her looks - she is also unintentionally moe, without any excuse (whereas Anko has reason to be). Despite her maturity in other areas, her density to contextual situations (as well as her ability to be easily manipulated) is highly unbecoming of her own self perceptions! In this sense she becomes a paradox unto herself. A lovable walking contradiction who is constantly the epitome of what she tries so hard not to be. Her frustrations and refusal to accept this is easily projectable for any average person. While one could certainly treat Azunyan as a woman (and expect her body to respond as one) she is also capable of satisfying the viewer's lustful desire for innocence at the same time. Azunyan is not only a complex character study, but a reflection, and commentary of our own needs.
She still the worst K-On though.

Speaking of Hanamaru Kindergarten, this is what its like inside my brain.
Kind of.
The inside of my mind.

You're a good dude, and yeah Nakiami rocks!

The kids like dem bishie. You got the gender split for the vote?

No (I wasn't there when the poll was conducted), but I doubt it's too lopsided. I'm sure the boys like sweet basketball action as much as anyone.

Your kids would be, like, 14? And they still watch Anpanman? :lol I like the hipsters choosing "I don't like anything". They're well on their way to being anime protagonists.

I bet the Anpanman crowd stopped watching anime after first grade, but they had to come up with an answer.

Or they really enjoy Anpanman. Who knows. I mean, how can you hate this face?

I like how they just make white squares to simulate light reflecting off his face.

I never want to watch another Muv-Luv product ever. Just one more episode and I can be done with this pile of dog shit.

I want an apocalypse ending just to see everybody dead.

I suppose that's a viable curiosity though perhaps unintentially humorous.

I genuinely hope no one thought I was asking the question because they thought I didn't do it. It doesn't help that the thread title was incorrect in describing my question.

Muv-Luv fin
This was awful. Cliches around every damn corner. We have the villain in front of a fireplace, twirling a knife before he flings it at a map. All it needed was Ode to Joy somewhere. Then there are straight contradictions in the storyline but whatever, the story has always been shit. We have a 'love conquers all' bullshit type ending and the stakes are raised in the most laughable manner possible. This is the stupidest plot I've seen in awhile. I was apathetic to the anime till the final arc came around and went straight into the shitter. I mean it was bad but I could roll with it. The final arc is on a whole separate level of idiocy.

The characters are, for the most part, idiots and love-stricken puppies at that.

This show has also driven home the point that I hate CG mecha, viciously. All of it should be hand-drawn.

I don't see him getting through Extra and Unlimited.

Unlimited are really good though, Extra was the problem lol.

Too bad TE's anime sucked badly, although I do like the Kamchatski's arc.. Oh well still watching the anime gonna help me if the VN version got PC port.

The shit I'm seeing in Muv-Luv has ascended beyond stupidity. I thought AO was the bottom of the barrel, I was wrong.

Every stupid cliche, every illogical choice, every dumbass action scene all collapsed into one big singularity.

Christ.

but.....MUVLUV has Chobi doesn't it?

I have to ask this while wonzo is pimping Polar Bear Cafe: why do I keep seeing a panda bear when its Polar Bear Cafe?
Because Panda's one of the main characters.

Everything revolves around a Cafe run by a Polar Bear, hence the name of the show.

Sailor moon 39

The senshi go ice skating!
A talented olympic figure skating duo offers to give ice skating lessons to chosen people.
again, this episode was alright, but the real standout, and let's be quite simply honest here, was Mako-chan ice-skating.

What the fuck else matters in this episode? Makoto is amazing.
Oh yeah and the skating couple get pissed off, the guy flirts with Mako-chan and Tuxedo Kamen does what he does. Sailor Moon does what she does. Everything goes back to normal.
but ...DAMN

OH.MY.GOD!

This whole episode is EPIC! AWESOME!. Not only Shinsegumi and Miwararigumi joining forces,
Norio Wakamoto joins in, every single police force joins in. All being lead by the motherfucking badass Shogun!! $!@#!%$!^!@!
. Also this have a nice Tsuki concern for Gintoki just for Firehawk12.

To finish this off is the
Tendoshu
involving themselves and the epic fight conclusion between Gintoki and Oboro. MY HEAD CANNOT CONTAIN THE AWESOMENESS OF THIS EPISODE!!!

Thank you based Sorachi.

I don't have a lot to say about this episode. But it was nice as usual. Yet another quietly uplifting story.

Yeah, it's a hard show to analyze. There's a reason wonzo keeps comparing it to the wind. That's how it feels. I guess that makes it a good comedown after Mouryou no Hako.

I don't feel intensely about it, but it's damn good, and I think that's a perfectly fine way to feel.

Eleven comments telling me to avoid Guilty Crown. Guess I'll be avoiding it then. I'll have to prepare myself to finally watch Gintama anyway.

The bad: Internet connection issues which broke up the flow of the episode.

The AWESOMENESS: Everything else.

Good stuff. They've joked about Gintoki not having a "special attack". This proves he doesn't need one. If anything his special skill is his adaptability. Man though, the amount of stuff packed in to this arc, especially the past two episodes. All those reruns were worth it ten fold.

*hugs Chihayafuru

So, I just watched Accel #1, Chu2koi #1,2, Chahayafuru #1,2, and first impressions leave me wanting to finish them in this order: Chu2, Accel, and Chihaya; but it could be that Accel world got bumped up unnecessarily because of the cliffhanger ending.

Chihaya just feels like most other sports show; Saki felt like a stronger show. I'll probably put this one on the reserve backlist and will finish it... eventually.

Accel World has Kuroyukihimegoddess and Chuuni has abused Rikka. That kind of cuteness is hard to top. I think Chihayafuru will charm you though. The music really has that effect.
