Ha ... got on last night for the first time in a week just to check out the prices for these new weapon skins (OUCH ...). Saw the Rose Back Item going for 2g ... so I spent half my money on it just cause it's the only thing from this event that I not only WANT but also think I can actually get.

Then I played that silly event game and from one of my 2 chest I got the ugly-HUGE backpack for this event ... looked on the TP and was able to sell it for 4 gold.

Profit! B]

Now all I need is to get the wind catcher and I can move on ...

Also, how do you vote? I have 25 token things but no clue on how to give them to the human lady.

Don't cull me bro.

You're gonna be culled to make room for new minigames. Sorry brah.

Towards the back of the Zephyr Sanctum ship are ballot boxes for each candidate.

The backpack drops in the new sanctum battle game, the rose drops in Southsun Survivor, and all of the weapons drop in the new horde mode. Not sure what the drop rates are but people have said they've gotten multiple roses, thus the low price.

go to Queensdale, ask in map chat where the train is lol. There are 4 to 6 champions that will spawn right after another so people run this constantly.. not sure how much "fun" it will be after numerous runs but it works.

running Queensdale I think the "run" takes maybe 10ish mins for 4-6 champs...

Thanks, this was what I was hoping for. I forgot how many champs were there since I typically just go there for SB these days. Anyone know how many champs you have to kill for the final tier?

I think it's 60. Don't forget to pop a Kiel support button while you're doing it. Each champ is its own event in Kryta, not counting that spider queen one but I don't think the train cares about that. :p

At some point we're going to have to make a video both showing how to set up the controller stuff AND showing us kicking ass with it.

One thing, Hawkian, remember to link to my blog post when you make the post, as linking to specific uploads on Google Drive will mean that link will be outdated (and possibly deleted) when I upload a new version.

I mean how many in just tier 4 alone? I unfortunately can't see how many I have total atm since I'm at work but I think I need 12 or 14 more just to get to tier 4 so I'm wondering how many more on top of that I'll need...this may be the first monthly I don't make in time in forever... I'm supporting Evon for the Abaddon fractal, stinks you can't get all the achievements if you want to show proper support for a candidate. Funny how few people actually care about this election and are just doing it for achievements and whatever fractal they want.

15 champions in each of the 4 tiers.

FYI - forgot to mention that the run requires some WP jumping ... you can ask where the WPs are or let me know if you're not sure. I can let you know in-game which ones you need. I'll be heading on within the hour to kill some champs myself lol, need 15 more I believe

From http://www.guildmag.com/magazine/issue9/interview.htm

GuildMag (Ollannach): So I have a question I’m seeing on the internet quite often. With the living story about Marjory, we get a journal. Are we going to get any sort of personal story book in the future of the game that collects all the cutscenes, just like the personal story one?

ArenaNet (Scott McGough) : You mean some kind of mechanism to replay the cinematics and cutscenes?

GuildMag (Ollannach) : Yeah, well the current journal takes up an inventory space. So I’ve seen people asking if it would be possible to have a menu like the personal story menu.

ArenaNet (Scott McGough) : That’s a technical hurdle we’re trying to overcome at the moment and we are working hard on it. I know I have a meeting later today to discuss that very issue, but yes we are working towards a better story tracking system for the living world.

Yay Living Story Journal

Interesting quote about the anniversary update:

ArenaNet (Scott McGough) : Yes, this one will be in Divinity’s Reach, the story will move to Divinity’s Reach, and we will follow up on some of our iconic characters. We are going to have a celebration, an anniversary party, that all the players are going to be invited to. There’s a different region for it ingame – I think I’ll keep that to myself for now so it doesn’t spoil the surprise – but yes, the action in August will return to Divinity’s Reach, we’ll have a bit of a celebration, and then a bit of a surprise.

Wonder what he means in regards to "a different region"?

Ohhh, so that's what that was

Was wondering why the waves wouldn't stop ... they over powered my warrior pretty fast after I wasted 60% of her HP reviving the NPC. Gave up after that one try.

Bleh divinity reach. Humans are the least interesting race with the least interesting NPCs.

Yup :/

I say this often on the guild wars 2 forums but I really do feel that Norns are just BETTER as the "human" group. They're big, strong looking with tattoos and better racial choices for the heads (as in, it's actually easier to make a chocolate norn than a chocolate human that looks right. Same for Asians ... according to some Asian members of reddit apparently). Fits in MUCH better in a world with Char and Kodan and so on IMO.

Humans just look like porcelain dolls and I don't find them too interesting beside the fact that pretty much ever race hates them.. :

Probably just means whatever is under that tent area being new.

A surprise? Wonder if anyone else is getting got like Theo Ashford. Hoping Thackary will get killed trying to protect Queen Jennah.

After a wealth of internet issues I may finally be able to play an online game when I get home tonight. Still sitting at the start of the Warrior 15-25 area from a month or so ago.

I don't play a single human character, but you should hang around in DR more, there are some really amazingly funny NPC conversations and events going down.

Divinity's Reach is, by far, the best-looking city in the game. Hoelbrak is essentially a tent city, Black Citadel looks slapdash and confusing. Rata Sum is interesting and has a great skybox, but I wouldn't call it pretty. Caledon Forest is gorgeous as well, but it's so small that it feels more like a town than a city.

Divinity's Reach is also the first MMO city that actually feels like it's the size of a city. Lots of places are off-access, but it still feels like a large urban area.

I'm glad the next update is headed there, hopefully this means they're going to start overhauling the cities (they said this was one of their goals for 2013, but it was noticeably absent from the blog post). I wish there were DEs within the city, and there should be some dungeons or mini-dungeons in there just for the hell of it. Activities too; there's target shooting and bar brawl minigames already established, just waiting to be put together and added in.

A surprise as in, surprise, the new race is Centaur.

How does a Centaur dodge-roll?

Divinity's Reach may bear the closest resemblance to a giant sprawling capital, but Rata Sum is better looking and much better designed. Floating in the sky and the mix of Tech and Nature is too awesome. It's organized in an intelligent fashion as well with everything being a short walk or portal away at all times. All DR has going for it is the aesthetic of the size and the fairgrounds area. The rest looks like overpacked lower class living areas surrounding an opulent center castle.

Instead of a roll, it's a sidestep or quick dash backwards?

I like Divinity's Reach the best out of all the cities. It feels like a city, it's layout is huge but not-complicated, everything is easily accessed, and players are actually there. The rest of the cities are either confusing (Rata Sum, Black Citadel, The Grove), have things far too spread out (Hoelbrak, Lion's Arch, The Grove again), or they're just uninteresting once you get past the initial wow factor (Rata Sum, The Grove... again)

A lot of the issues with the cities is just awkward waypoint/vender locations. Lion's Arch and The Grove would not be nearly as bad if they moved some of the waypoints around so you don't have to walk all over the place just to craft/repair/get to the bank/trade post. Divinity's Reach has everything there on two waypoints close enough to each other that there's no loading.

The problem with humans starts with Thackeray and sort of goes from there. Dude is like the whiniest of "the" npcs you deal with, and one of the biggest drawbacks to going human. Thackery and Gwen were the worst part of EotN, so maybe ANet wanted to carry that into the new game.

Its also part of my bigger annoyance with Kryta. It really seems like the Ascalon-typical fantasy humans culture supplanted all the uniqueness Kryta had going for it in Guild Wars. In GW2, the human npcs are mostly fair skinned, and might as well just speak in Old English. Queensdale is certainly the new presearing.

Either way. I've heard Arena.net realizes how much some of us loved Elona. I'm holding onto the hope they do something with that, even if it isn't a full blown expansion. Although it almost feels like all the living story stuff lately was to appease the Cantha-fanatics. Which also strikes me as a little weird given how Factions was the least populated region later on. Where did all this comparatively sudden Cantha love come from?

Earlier this year a dev had mentioned that if people wanted to see Cantha they'd have to petition for it with NCSoft. Cantha is a melting pot of Asian cultures and from what we can gather some Asian countries took offense to this so NCSoft forced ANet to remove the Canthan area from Divinity's Reach. Personally I'm pretty confused by this considering Cantha existed in GW1 and there's been tons of games that are Asian inspired...Though somewhat recently a dev came out and said yeah we can do a Cantha region, no problem. I think the recent Asian inspired areas were more of a temporary fan service to hold people over. I'm dying to see the Crystal Desert in GW2, but even more so I want Elona more than anything.

It's inevitable that I'll spend the 400 free gems on tansmutation crystals. I don't know why I'm putting it off.

I'm rather unhappy with the rifle models available. And it's getting expensive.

That is why you fail!

Also Caledon Forest is a forest. You my friend are thinking of the Grove, which is so confusing that they had to install leafy gondola elevators just to get people to useful destinations.

Spoken like a true Bookah. The Accountancy Waypoint is perhaps the most useful in the entire game!

This is the mouse cursor going back to being center in the screen you're talking about right? This works as advertised on my Windows 8 machine.
Huhh... I wonder why it works on some but not others...
Does Stormbluff Isle ever drop to High or Medium population? 1800 gems for a transfer is just too much.
I have never seen it other than Very High. Guesting does the trick very well outside of WvW, though...

hoelbrak is a tent city for ugly bear people.

divinity's reach is a beautiful city for beautiful people (and logan)

Norn are basically the most humanlike race. Humans are tiny porcelain doll aliens from the weak and puny dimension. Not even native to Tyria!

My favorite city is probably Rata Sum, though. Such an amazingly unique looking place for a fantasy game. The blending of mayan, magic, and mechanical elements makes Asuran architecture stand out.

How does a Centaur dodge-roll?

I dunno. How does one fight the wind?

To avoid further confusion:
It's supposed to be "a different reason" not "a different region". That was a mistake one of our transcribers made. II noticed it this morning, it will be adjusted soon since I've got no one that can edit that right now.
You can hear it in the audio file on the top as well.
Clarification.

What are you talking about? This is complete nonsense.

The humans are super interesting. They basically come from Space, and are not native to Tyria! I love them more than the other races!

I was taking mobs all night with the gamepad and it felt really natural. I am in love.

WHAT! I wonder why it would work for some and not for others. I hope I can figure this out because right now I have to move the cursor to the middle of the screen before I switch it back to camera mode so my AOE skills are easier to use, If I could just hit BACK and have it do it. OH MAN

You're welcome! And yeah, I know how you feel.

I'm thinking it must be some kind of permission or limitation that can be disabled? I don't have a Windows 8 machine to experiment with, unfortunately. :/ Perhaps try running it in Administrator mode? In any case, it's pretty crucial to the effectiveness of the control scheme (obviously for AOEs, but also for selecting dialogue options quickly, and also for navigating the map). So much so that I personally would consider installing a Windows 7 dual boot just for it if it was the only way!

I'm also with Retro regarding Divinity's Reach; it's really something else. First city that truly feels like one, rather than a pretty town with stone buildings. In fact, I blame it for making the other capitals slightly underwhelming, especially Hoelbrak and Lion's Arch. Lion's Arch is beautiful but so tiny!

I'm glad that Anet is looking to consolidate some things, like with the BL keys being able to buy skins. Anet time gating everything with new currencies would have become fatiguing over time. Hope the dungeon overhaul comes with a change to the token system, too. At the very least a bag or tab to hold all of it.

Well, to be fair, not all of them are advertised as cities. Rata Sum is more like a collection of universities and Hoelbrak is a meeting place with hunting lodges.

Divinity's Reach is so packed because they were forced there for protection. Because humans are weak.
j/k Divinity's reach is great
