Then ask yourself this, who is the current poster boy for character action games? Maybe a company that pretty much only makes character action games?
Itsuno is still the king but hasn't made a new game in the genre in 7 years and Itakagi isn't even worth mentioning going by his current project.
So yeah, I would say that what PG does very much matters. And these licensed games will get way more exposure then their usual projects do (which are mostly bombs).
E3 isn't even here yet. We have no idea what any of the developers are working on, PG included. They might have more shit up their sleeve for people to jump onto. And last I heard, Scalebound is still a thing and still in development.
Itsuno could possibly be making DMC5 (according to JC, that is). Itakagi's new project might be butt, but I'll wait until it drops.
Point is, this generation has just begun and they've already dropped quite a few awesome games on us for the character action genre. You are simply getting angry at games a. not in the genre, and b. not being made by the main team.
It's like this is an image battle with you more so than the games. Like, the "genre looks like shit now because these developers are making different titles as side projects" rather than "no companies exists to make games of the character action genre at all".
You might not being saying the latter because we all know it ain't true.
Edit: If you wanna talk about image problems, the genre has been largely cheapened since the PS2 days, where big leaguers like Capcom created some pretty dreadful games. Somehow we all survived. Imagine that!
Scalebound isn't going to be at E3.
I'm mentioning E3 in general for games, not for Scalebound. In Scalebound's case, it's still a thing as far as I know. That's my point.
