Halo |OT12| Last One Out, Get the Lights

I really really miss static weapon spawns on maps. Not only power weapons but ordinary ones too. Want an AR? Go pick one up. A plasma pistol? Go pick one up. I think personal ordnance is fun and all, but it's no replacement for all of that.

While you're at it, make overshield, speed boost, damage boost, all of those pick ups. Throw camo in there for fun too

nah is it good? does anyone who's good at games play it? I don't want to buy that thing and it's just me you and some 13 year old randoms on our team every game
I have it

If you played Halo 3 snipes against anyone good you would have died before you got anywhere near melee range.

Yea, I don't remember getting beat down much at all in Halo 3 snipes and I had multiple tags at different skill ranges and a 50 on my main. Maybe Striker got Ghost Town a lot?

Three things they didn't mention in the bulletin:

1. Is there radar?
2. Will there be Beam Rifles on the map? Really hoping there will be
3. Will specialisations be enabled in the playlist? I'm assuming there's no AA's

There should be beam rifle secondaries

and yeah Ghost Town was beat down central in snipes. You would body shot+melee all the time

Bloom
Armor Lock
Forge Maps
Crazy Jet Pack

Not to mention:

The Banshee
Sword Base
mini nukes aka nades
less than satisfactory jumping mechanics even post beta

I personally enjoyed Reach more so than most of HaloGaf but I don't think the comparison is close even with all of the glaring issues associated with Halo 4 at the moment.

Ugh, how rushed was development on this game?

There's a bunch of sound glitches, I saw spartan lasers on Haven, and sometimes the ordnance doesn't have that white text showing you where it is.

To my surprise I got blasted by an incinerator cannon and quit the game. Doesn't help im playing alone, but still. Fuck. This isn't something a public beta would have fixed, these are common, obvious glitches.

How about rushing towards that rocket icon only to find out, to your dismay, that it was merely a couple of frags grenades or maybe even nothing at all and then getting killed for your troubles. It's happened to me quite a few times so I can empathize. Still loving MP but boy that TU/update could not come soon enough.

So have we been keeping track of the meta game so far?

-PV
-Jetpack
-Boltshot

I can't wait to see what's next.

what do you mean campaign wise.

Terminals having most of the story (and it not even being available in-game) and the loss of legacy features in theater/campaign scoring are the only evidence to that end. Aside from a few non-game breaking glitches (oversights, really, which none of the Halo campaigns are without), the Halo 4 campaign is an extremely sterile experience.

There were only enough at spawn for some of the team so that means someone was starting with a weapon they didn't want. Now you can choose your primary weapon, which ensures everyone always has a fighting chance from spawn, in every playlist. No more forced AR starts, or global DMR starts which ensures the AR would never be used. People have total control over their utility weapon(s) in Halo 4, which means the sandbox could be balanced around people always having a competent weapon.

I'm not saying instead of load outs, I mean in addition. Like if you run out of ammo you're not completely boned, you can pick something off the map

I was pretty surprised when I began playing MM and found that they had done away with this. How am I supposed to get more ammo for my primary? Kill an enemy and get to his body before the 12 sec despawn? Cannibalize my teammate's ammo when he falls next to me? I don't get the logic.

Oh yeah, sure.

Running out of ammo is a small issue in Halo 4. It's more noticeable to me than in any Halo, ever.

Well besides it being really short (legendary completion in under six hours) it felt as if nothing was really explained, nor did we get a chance to
fully explore reqieum
. It just kind of seemed like,
hey welcome to this alien planet, please push these buttons so things happen x15.

I had this happen to me on Haven. Initial spawn, I see the Rocket Launcher icon and go "holy shit a rocket launcher." Sprint towards it, see an enemy sprinting towards it as well. He stops just short to engage with his rifle right as I grab it, leap into the air and shoot... a scattershot. I then get killed.

Just thought about it, were any easter eggs found already? in campaign?

And I agree the lack of mystery or exploring about Requiem felt really disappointing in the campaign.

EDIT: oh also Fyre if someone wants to submit a map, let's say for a team doubles playlist or something, how do we do it, I haven ever done this before lol

Haven, a symmetrical map, includes asymmetrical initial spawns and asymmetrical initial global ordnance. A professional game designer thought this would be good.

I actually don't know which I prefer as a complete package, Reach or Halo 4.

Halo 4 isn't a complete package. Bungie wasn't talking about patching in old features at the fucking launch of Reach. Halo 4 isn't even a step sideways in comparison to Reach's feature set.

I don't know what it is... but I just can't seem to make callouts on Halo 4 maps. Haven just all looks the same, shame about that. Complex is a clusterfuck. Adrift's layout stilll needs to catch on with me...

Maybe its the lack of a weapon call out, idk. Im just so lost in this game.

Yep.

H4 is chock full of of these moments.

Also GG earlier Deputy, Neo, Kittens, Bobs, Xand and Zay-Lin.

To be fair though, that's one of the least egregious decisions recent Halo designers have made.

ODST was the best full package. Great campaign, full Halo 3 multiplayer suite and Firefight, back when it was brutal.

I think I'll have to wait to see where Spartan Ops goes to really get a handle on Halo 4.

That's what I thought. People hammered on it for the time for being a full price release, which is fair, but I still consider it the single best Halo purchase you can make on the 360.

I give the edge to Reach because of the Firefight customization options and super enhanced Forge. Even though Firefight matchmaking was a cakewalk in Reach, custom games could easily be made to duplicate the ODST experience, which was just a custom game without the options anyway.

I'll be in the minority most likely, but as of right now I like Reach better. Although I always liked Reach despite the issues it has. I played 2000+ games of it 2 years. I also liked Firefight more than Spartan Ops, and the campaign more than 4's. I still like 4 though. It has issues but it's a fun game.

I prefer ODST's maps overall, but the one thing that can't be properly replicated are the limited weapon stocks per round, which I feel is the biggest misstep with Reach's Firefight.

Can you imagine if Reach had Halo 4's gunplay - what a different experience we'd be reminiscing about? Unfortunately the sandbox designer at Bungie on that project ruined the gunplay with crippling bloom.

Also: Armorlock.

Jetpack was pretty bad too.

Other than those two things, Reach would've been great.

That too - Hopefully in Halo 5 we'll finally see it replaced with a jump pack (or gone entirely)..... hopefully...
