I've been listening to this album for a couple of weeks and it's fantastic.
Precisely, plus there's the theme of repeat sins and sinning again in several songs.
Maybe I'm looking too much into it, but in the skit between Sing About Me/Dying of Thirst, Kendrick's friends no longer sound like the 16-17 year old teens we hear in other parts. They sound like weary adult men, which, if correct, implies the cycle of violence going on for years after speaking with the elderly woman. The Bible verse is being uttered each of the many times they sin. The instance when the verse is recited at the beginning is not the same as the one near the end of the album; it takes place later on after they've already memorized it.
But does christianity really save him when the story repeats itself?
