In all honesty, it barely looks better than DKCR, however the 1080p/60fps will make a positive difference.
You have nostalgia memory. I just played it. Go and see how dated it looks for yourself.

1080p/60 for a simple 2.5d platformer should be a requirement this gen not an achievement.
There are much worse fates than making excellent traditional 2D platformers. They aren't exactly raining from the skies here.

Oh yeah, totally agree, and that's why I'm excited for Tropical Freeze. Do you understand why I still want something more, though, even though platformers are my favorite genre?

It's more accurate to use an upressed DKCR screen.
Why is it more accurate to use an emulated resolution not possible on the intended hardware? Also, did anyone play the game around E3 at Best Buy? These 30FPS trailers don't do it justice. It looks great in motion.
Because it looks very similar to the Wii game, just upressed with better fur. This is not what you'd hope for out of a generational leap.

That's not a generational leap.
I don't know what you wanted then. When the art style carries over its going to look similar no matter what. The size of the stages, the number of enemies on screen, the amount of detail in foliage and the resolution have all gotten a serious bump.
It's really a testament of what Rare was able to hide on the Wii that we're able to have this discussion.
So it's like past gen, where 360/PS3 games looked just like uprezzed Xbox games? Case in point:
That's not a generational leap.
I would not be surprised at all if this was originally intended for Wii.

lol the same people looking at a Wii to Wii U screen shot comparison and saying that there's not all that much difference are the same type of people who look at Killzone 3 and Killzone Shadowfall and say that there is a leap. Pathetic.
Is there new media in the e-shop for this game? That is the way to judge the graphics.

I just hope Wise still has his magic.
His work on the DKC series on SNES is still one of the best gaming soundtracks ever made.

My roommate has a 720p TV, and I can say that console games look better on his TV than my 1080p set. I don't know how 1080p content looks on his set, though, outside of Blu-rays.

In that case you should compare next gen games with pc versions of current gen games running in 1080p.
PC version of games tend to not just be higher resolution but have many other enhanced effects/textures/shaders/etc.

What a horrible comparison. Come on dude.
Definitely should be 1080p considering how it looks, but glad to hear it. Hopefully with the fact there's no mine cart world and the David Wise soundtrack and no shake to roll, I make actually enjoy this one
I want a piece of this action. If Wise gives me a new version of this:

I'll gift a gaffer a copy of Tropical Freeze.
