I haven't started watching yet, but I need something answered before. Otherwise I'll just keep expecting it.

Does Daya die/return to her planet?

Please tell me she won't have too much screentime and complain for hours again.
Up to ep.4 not really spoilers but being careful
she hasn't been as annoying as last season SO FAR, I feel she hasn't got much screen time so this might be why. Also she's made a self aware comment about her annoyingness

Watched up to episode 6 with my girlfriend today.

Am I really supposed to take the Piper/Alex relationship seriously? It might be the worst thing about this show.

It definitely is to me.

6 episodes in and I think this is better than season 2...but overall, I think the magic is gone for me. Or at least fading.

Really enjoyed the season, though I was kind of bored by the end.

It seemed like a lot of great episodes that didn't take the plot anywhere. Was Piper's side business supposed to be the hook? ... because it seemed insignificant.

Finished the season and it just felt like a big time waster, a decent enough time waster, but a time waster none the less. I really don't even know the point of this season it just felt like setup for another season, we got brief insights into minor characters that go nowhere and "new" individual plots that went unresolved.

This. I just finished S3 now and i was pretty bored. I had rewatched seasons 1 and 2 and had a blast watching it. Can't say the same for season 3. I don't think i'll ever touch that season again.

Yeah, 5 episodes left and its been pretty "whatever."

Dare I say the thread is reflecting the overall feel of the season? Smallest OT yet and considerably smaller than S2.

Piper is insufferable. Holy shit, she hit her final form in episode 8.
Her plan is the dumbest shit and that speech was cringeworthy.

I don't think the lighter tone is a good fit for this show. The Piper/Alex relationship isn't interesting. The Daya/Bennett storyline isn't interesting.

A show about prison needs to be darker with more tension. When prison no longer feels like a scary place, and it starts feeling like a friendly summer-camp, then the prison setting will no longer feel interesting.

Season 1 had a ton of tension. Piper vs Pennsatucky. Piper vs Red. The prisoners vs. Pornstache.

Season 2 had a ton of tension as well. Vee versus all of the inmates. Morello breaking into Christopher's house.

I just didn't feel that tension with season 3. Even when
tension was building between Lolly and Alex
, it felt like it was happening way too late into the season.

Thank you for this. You summed up basically how i felt with this season. I finished it a few mins ago so i might need to process it a bit more. But i left unsatisfied.

I am three episodes in (actually still have about fifteen minutes left in the third ep). I am not feeling it at all so far. I don't like the Piper story at all, and I was never a Piper hater. Season 1 was, imo, excellent. Season 2 wasn't as good but I still watched it all through in two days and enjoyed it.

My wife and I watched it last night and she hasn't asked about turning it back on. I am just playing Witcher 3. I am sure we'll get back to it tonight, but man. I am hoping it gets better. The entire
prison closing subplot seems tired and forced. I hope it goes away.

I just can't give a shit about Piper and Alex. It stuffs up the early episodes wayyyyy too much. Luckily it starts to move away from that about halfway.

Buuuuuuttt I'm loving the shine that the smaller characters are getting this season.

I just finished the season. I agree with others that it didn't necessarily go anywhere. But it felt pretty good to watch nonetheless.

(random full-season spoilers)
I'm both surprised and not surprised about Bennett bailing. I don't think it's a permanent thing, pretty sure he'll be back, but as a series regular, the whole thing with him, Daya and the Latinas hen-clucking at him was getting out of hand and overall difficult to watch. So bringing him down to guest star was the right choice.

Was glad they finally did something with Soso at the end there and opened the black girl clique up a bit. Having her just be everyone's whipping girl wasn't entertaining and having Taystee be the new "mom" in place of V is going to be great next season.

Chapman sending the Aussie girl to max was pretty great, I'm happy that she's just finally "owning" her experience in prison, made her easier to watch this season than in the past, even if it started out shit.

Red's whole thing this season just didn't really work for me. I dunno how to describe it.

But some of the best bits this season were surprisingly from Boo and Pennsatucky. Whoever was involved in making that a thing this season was doing something right.

Although the tension was missing, I think it was refreshing after last season when there was actually too much tension and too much racial division. I can see how V had a place in the narrative of last season, but it's going to be nice to see more interracial interaction, unlike last season and, to a lesser extent, the season before. It was a palate cleanse, so to speak.

Major season spoliers. Do not click unless you have finished the entire season.

So Alex dead or not? I kind of think her conspiracy stalker Lilly saved her.

Final episode spoilers:
Amazing use of Foreigner with Morello's "Poem", and then the perfect song to play over the credits

I never understand the Piper hate, when people here keep saying Season 1 is better than season 2, and yet season 1 focused mostly on Piper.

The worst character (and worst storyline) on the show is Dayanara (or Daya for short). Why have we spent so many seasons on this woman's pregnancy? Her storyline with Bennet always drags the show down to a snail crawl.

Oh gawd, yes it is

She makes no good decisions

I thought episode 1 was kinda bad. Second episode was better but it definitely doesn't seem to be catching me like the first two seasons.

About to start eleven, and I'm enjoying this season very much so far. What this has become to me is an enjoyable time waster with some very good character moments sprinkled in between. It has certainly delivered to me on that front.

Starting episode 7 now.

The show has consistently been improving since the start of season 2 by not focusing as much on Piper's arc as being the "main character". The show is so much better when it focuses on the larger ensemble cast equally.

I'm liking the new season so far except for the
weird Red/Healy storyline and some of the flashbacks this season, which have mostly been meh. Best one so far was Bennett, and now he's gone (as far as I know). I'm digging the humor this season too.

Tough day, but I've made it through and here are my thoughts on it.

I don't really remember first season that well, but was Piper that annoying before?

Finished it.

It's a very different vibe from the dark and arc heavy S2, this season is definitely smaller stories and setting up stuff for next year.

But I loved it just the same really. Funny and moving. And stuffed full of amazing characters you root for.

And piper at the end was actually ok.

Just finished Ep 3. Is this
Piper and Alex shit gonna keep up the whole season? I'm already tired of their whole shtick. It's like a bad porno every time they're on screen together.

4 episodes in. Show really lost all its steam during season 2, season 3 is pretty terrible so far, poor writing, no decent performances, poor carryover storylines, insufferable main characters (Piper is pure trash!), no desire to see what happens next.

I'm out!

Not a big fan of season 3 for a lot of the same reasons as other people have stated here already. House of Cards and this show have lost steam 3 seasons deep :/

Exactly what they said. Fraud and endangerment.
I don't recall them saying that.

EDIT: Yeah, they said she was under arrest for selling a controlled substance. Is there a follow up after the arrest?

Maybe fraud could stick
(charging someone for selling fake drugs though?)
, but endangerment is nonsense. I hope they at least have a follow up episode where she has a shitty lawyer who can't be bothered to get her off. She is completely blameless in what happened.

Can we all at least agree that ditching Larry was the best thing the show has ever done?

Fuck that guy, he was boring as shit.

Yep, it seems like season 2 and 3 to a lesser extent was really all about pruning out the worst story arcs.

A kid is dead and the justice system needs someone to take the fall regardless of where blame should be. It's not like this hasn't actually happened before or that someone was charged disproportionally with their crime for reasons outside the justice system.

No, I get that. But without seeing her get sent up the river in a miscarriage of justice, it feels like a huge chunk of her story is missing.

I've only just watched the episode she got arrested in, this may all yet be addressed, Idunno.

Sigh, I think this show has already gone the Weeds route, because it just isn't that interesting anymore. It's way too long with too little actually happening, and knowing there's another season coming just makes it worse because you know there's no ending here.

Mostly finale spoilers, but spoilers for the whole season.

Ugh they pulled a season 1 with Alex. And I'm pissed about Cezar getting busted with the baby. And about Sophia getting locked up for being a victim. And the Red/Healy stuff is boring as hell. I'm mad that they got rid of Nicki and the new counselor. The Norma plot line thing was kinda weird, and I didn't really like it.

I'm glad that Suzanne got some nice things happening to her though. I'd read Time Hump Chronicles. And I'm glad Poussey and Soso found each other. And Taystee is The Mom :,,,) I cried at the end scene with the lake.

And finally.
Fuck Piper.
