Three in April - Mo' Games Mo' Problems

The challenge is simple, complete three games in April. They can be games you started in March 2014, or November 1997, it doesn't matter, just get them done by May.

My List:

Banished killed my backlog productivity last month, I was having so much fun with that game that I really didn't get much else done. That is just fine with me though, love getting sucked into a title like that, I thoroughly recommend that one.

Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways (PC) - Going to work my way through Separate Ways this month and, if I get some time, a professional run.

Year Walk (PC) - Had a few hours so decided to run my way through this one. What a surreal, breathtaking experience. Wrote up a review here.

Dark Souls II (PC) - Even though this is coming out in the tail-end of April, I will be finishing it before the month is out. Guaranteed.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (3DS) - Very close to done with this one.

South Park: The Stick of Truth (PC) - Having fun with this one, but just got side tracked by school and Banished.

Golden Sun (GBA) - Will be taking part in the OT for the WiiU VC release, I will, of course, be playing on my Game Boy Micro.

Other Possibilities - Half Minute Hero (PC), Year Walk (PC), Gone Home (PC), Alpha Protocol (PC), Bravely Default (3DS)

This month is gonna suck:

- Tales of Xillia
- Mercenary Kings
- Brothers
- Rain
- Remember Me
- Kingdom Hearts 1.5 REmix

o.o

Code:
My unfinished game from last month's list is my priority to finish in April: Danganronpa

I'll finish up Strider , which shouldn't be tough.

And for the third, an evil playthrough on expert of Infamous Second Son.

Shouldn't be hard to do these.

Skyrim
Skyrim Dawnguard

Skyrim Dragonborn

Already logged like 40 hours in the last week, late to the party but I love it.

Dang only a month and half till graduation, gonna have to cut back on gaming
Portal 2
Final Fantasy X
Dishonored
DE: HR DC
AC4: Freedom Cry

As April stands right now for me:

- PixelJunk Shooter (finished last night, actually)
- Half-Life

Haven't decided on a third one yet, but I really want to focus on Half-Life at this point and get it finished, so I probably won't pick one for a couple weeks, and it'll have to be a short one.

I've been patiently awaiting the Black Mesa full release to play through Half-Life again.

My birthday's in April :D

This month I'm Going to play through

1. The Last Story (two hours in, great so far :D
2. Devil Survivor : Overclocked (not started yet)
3. No More Heroes (not started yet)

March was a really busy month for me, didn't even had the time to update in said thread but I only managed to complete two games. For shame my good people, for shame!

Here's hoping April can be more kind and provide me some spare time.

Tappingo: Yes, already finished. I mentioned in the previous thread that I only had a few puzzles left, and I got through them quite quickly. Disappointed, ultimately; I liked the core premise, but there wasn't really any challenge in it, it was just going through the motions. It's no Picross! Back to commuting with...
Bravely Default: Still ongoing, still enjoying, but I do think I needed that break.
Infamous 2: Almost finished a good playthrough, but I think I'll be attempting to Platinum the game; I did the first.

After those... Tesla Effect is imminent, so I'm considering revisiting the older Tex Murphy games to catch up. Not sure what my other options are right now. I'm feeling a little bit of a pull back to Demon's Souls, actually.

]Driver San Francisco
Resident Evil 6
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

D:SF - Very fun arcadey driving game, very chill and funny and not at all serious great to play, loved the shift mechanic helped keep the pace going.

RE6 - Didn't enjoy it that much, level design and enemies weren't that interesting, didn't care for the characters and I didn't find the gameplay to be that interesting(although perhaps it's because I finished RER, RE5 and RE4 this year as well as RE6 and I got burnt out on the style of gameplay maybe, iunno) game was pretty, bit too dark, one thing I liked about it over RE4 though was how it handled QTEs, there were no QTEs during cutscenes, so none of this put down the controller, OH GOD PRESS BUTTONS, FUCK WRONG THING, and then watch cutscene again thing.

FC3: BD - It's basically far cry 3 but with an uglier overworld and a faster movement speed(and funnier)
it's alright

Finished all three, woo!

I was going to pick Arkham Oranges as my third title but I figured since RE6 is so long(4 campaigns?!) I may as well reward myself by finishing up a shorter title.

I'll just post this from the March thread.

That is a really cool way of posting your progress Nillansan! How did you like Octodad? It is high on my wishlist.

I apologise for the late reply, just saw your post when the thread was bumped. I meant to write a short review, but I haven't had the time to do it.

I had a lot of fun with it. A few frustrating bugs aside, it was a nice short experience (my first playthrough took me a little over 6 hours, the second one took 2 hours). Don't stress about the achievements when you play through it the first time, just ignore them, it serves as a much better experience that way.

There are a few different ways to solve certain problems, so it's definitely worth going through a second time.

It is a charming game, the way the world is put together reminds me a bit of Rockstar's Bully, everything seems to serve a purpose, there isn't much filler to be found. Despite its shortness, there is actually surprising amount of variety in gameplay.

You should consider getting it when it is on sale next time.

Haven't decided what are the follow ups, but 2 down so far (I count all the DLC as a one separate game):
-Batman: Arkham City
-Batman: Arkham City DLC

I'll definitely aim for 4 or even 5 games this month as I probably won't get even 3 a month during the summer as I'll be in Singapore as an exchange student.

My list:

Batman Arkham City. I plan to have it finished with 100% in the next week.

The Last of Us. Such a terrific game, that I plan to get the 100% of it (Which I normally do not do, Arkham City and TLoU being the exception)

Resident Evil 1: Director's cut. Have played all the mainline Resident Evil from 0 to 6 except this and ReMake.

I'm hoping to have the time to finish those 3 though.

Dark Soul II - I've been taking this one pretty slow but I should be finished my first run through in the next few days.

Wargame: Red Dragon - Have this preordered, should be able to get through at least one campaign before the month's over.

South Park - I bought this a few weeks ago but haven't opened it. Yet.

Finally finishing Crisis Core. Got about 8 hours in when it first came out, and now that I have it running near flawlessly on PPSSPP, it's time. Gonna try and finish Lords of Shadow 2 but I can't play it for more than 15-20 minutes at a time. Had way more fun with the Alucard DLC, though. And I won't finish Dark Soul 2 this month, but I will play it and I will die. A lot.

  • ZombiU (Wii U)
    [*]Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS)
    [*]Metal Gear Rising (PC)
    [*]Infinite Space (DS)
    [*]Sound Shapes (Vita)
    [*]The Swapper (PC)

Going all-in, as I've just submitted my ph-d thesis and have some time on my hand until the public defense. All games I'm right in the middle of, except Sound Shapes that I just bought

What I'll end up doing: playing Spelunky on Vita and EU IV on PC like a mad man

I'm going to try and play through a lot this month.

Fez (PS4)
Steamworld Dig (PS4)
Lego Marvel Super Heroes (PS4)
South Park: The Stick of Truth (PC)
Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony (PC)
Ratchet and Clank HD (PS3)
And, time permitting, I'll jump through The Wolf Among Us (PC) and The Walking Dead: Season Two (PC), power through the episodes out so far.

I'm out to take down my backlog with a revengeance the next little while, and last month worked out well.

My April List:

South Park: Stick of Truth
inFAMOUS Second Son
Assassins Creed 4

I started all of these before this month, but I'm not particularly far in any of them.. So we'll see what happens!

Top Priority:
Danganronpa
Fez
Brothers

Extras:
Pokemon Y (just started Victory Road, really need to finish this one...)
Dark Souls II (I may be able to finish this in five days, depends on school stuff)

Just for fun:
CS:GO
Pokemon Trozei
Guild Wars 2

OP, your link to the backlog blitz thread points to last year's. not sure if it really matters but just wanted to mention it

Should be a good month for me. I'll be picking up a PS4 so I'll finally be able to finish some newer releases. I cant even remember the last "new" game that I completed. 3D World maybe?

Im looking at:

Infamous SS
Killzone SF
Tomb Raider Definitive

Mercenary Kings
Lone Survivor: DC
Ni No Kuni (really having trouble finishing this one; about halfway through)

My April Goals:

1. inFamous Second Son - 72%, should be done the main story soon
2. Mercanary Kings - Haven't started it yet
3. Arkham Origins - Probably gonna restart
4. Witcher 1 - Chapter 3. Playing on hard mode, getting my butt kicked =(

Good idea. My goals will be:

-Asura's Wrath (PS3)
-Tomb Raider (PS4)
-Saints Row IV (PS3)

That's my goals. And platinum inFAMOUS Second Son.

Bought 3 games this month already, i intend to have them all done by may.

Tomb raider PS4 (not started)
Marvel lego PS4 (not started)
MGS ground zeroes PS4 (just give me half an hour for this one...lol) (not started)

Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus
Guacamelee
Typing of the Dead: Overkill
Dust: An Elysian Tale
Joe Danger 2: The Movie
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Words
Brothers: A Tale of Two Songs
To the Moon
My list from last month. Wanted three, ended up completing all eight. Surprised myself. I've got less games this month, but they've got more length than the games above and I'm near the beginning for most.

Super Mario 64 - Surprisingly, I've never actually beaten the game. Starting from the beginning, going 100%.
Dark Souls - Started a new file last night. Got to Blighttown before, so as long as I can get there, I should be good... sorta. Wanna beat it before Dark Souls 2 comes out on PC as I plan on getting that day one.
Danganronpa - Shouldn't be too bad to get through. I kinda know all the twists already, but oh well. Should still be fun.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - Ground Zeroes has got me hyped. Only got past the first few missions. Not sure just how in-depth I'll get with the game. Probably will just beat it.
Trials Evolution: Gold Edition - This counts as two games as it has both Trials HD and Evolution, at least it does in my head. Deal with it. Game I've put the most progress into, but that doesn't mean much seeing as how the first 90% of the game is a cakewalk compared to the last 10%. I've failed levels before due to too many deaths and due to not enough time, so I know this last 10% on these two games is going to suck.
The Swapper - Short with not much replay value, so should be okay.

OTHER
The Walking Dead: 400 Days - Should take like 30 minutes. Why I haven't done it, yet I do not know why.
Asura's Wrath DLC - Need to get secret ending first, I think. Then there's the ending DLC and the two Street Fighter DLC's.

Please vote for what game I should play through first! Right now I'm going by Dark Souls as it garnered the most votes when I first put this up, but I'd like to see some more votes to give myself a better idea of what to play.

EDIT: Just for fun, adding up the total hours according to How Long to Beat: 27 (100% run) + 51 + 24.5 + 17.5 + 4.5 + 7.5 + 4.5 + 1 + 2.5 = 140 hours = 5d20hr
Wow. I am boned. Okay, not so badly boned. I've already put an hour or so into Dark Souls, a couple hours into Peace Walker, an hour into The Swapper, 30 minutes into Danganronpa, almost done with 400 Days, and several hours into the Trials games. I think I can probably take out at least 6 hours, which leaves me with only 136 hours. Yay, that's not bad! That's only about 5 hours of gaming a day. Totally doable... well, not really. But if I do 8 on Fridays to make up for time not gaming during other weekdays and 6 or so on Saturday, along with maybe 5 on Sunday... very doable, methinks. I think Peace Walker and Dark Souls will be the hardest to get through. Possibly Trials, but the fact that it's in bite-sized chunks makes me think it won't be too bad. Asura's Wrath DLC will be annoying just because I don't know how to approach it. Do I really need to get that secret ending? If so, what do I do? Replay levels over and over again hoping for that good ranking? Or do I replay the whole damn game on an easier difficulty?

I've been patiently awaiting the Black Mesa full release to play through Half-Life again.

This is my first experience with the game, so I wanted to go with the original. Having so little FPS knowledge in general, I'm having an interesting time with it. In so many ways it feels antiquated, but at the same time the genre is so "new" to me that I don't really have any expectations outside of what I've heard from others. So it also feels fresh at the same time.

Alright Grief, I'll join in this month :p

Not sure why as I never complete any games I list, like the previous times I've done this. But here goes anyways since I just had shoulder surgery and will be off work a few months!

1. Type:Rider: Fun little puzzle game, but sometimes I could have used more precise controls :/. Nice history lesson as well, but after reading a few of the pages, mostly skimmed through the rest so I could just play the game.
2. Finding Teddy: Strange little adventure game. Overall, didn't really enjoy it, too strange for my taste.
3. Strider (almost complete)
4. Goat Simulator
5. Year Walk
6. Nihilumbra

I listed 5 since I'm close to wrapping up the first 3. Let's see what I can do :)

I did my three last month, I was pretty happy with that.

Right now I'm playing Demon's Souls, Tomb Raider Underworld and Metro Last Light. I'm also buying Trials Fusion and Child of Light this month. I think I'm going to drop Last Light, because I'll probably pick up the PS4 version when it comes, I'm thinking of dropping Underworld, because it runs like complete shit on PS3, and I don't know if I'm going to be able to finish the other three within the month at all.

More likely because I'm excited for SOMA after today's trailer, I'll probably buy Machine for Pigs, which I believe is short. I also plan to try Sly 4, which is PS+ right now. I also have RE Revelations, ZOE2 HD and Splinter Cell Blacklist to finish up, but I've not touched them for a couple of months.

I'm sure I'll finish three of these games, but I can't say which three. If anyone has any suggestions of what to tackle, feel free.

  • Dysfunctional Systems
  • Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition
  • VVVVVV
  • Breath of Fire

I'm just going to have four main ones since I already beat Dysfunctional Systems. Surprisingly short VN.

I'm hoping to beat Dark Souls 2 on my ps3 before Dark Souls 2 is on my pc.

which I will then beat over and over again.

I'm also having fun with diablo 3 with some friends.

My list for the month:

  1. Dishonored
  2. Yoshi's New Island
  3. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
I also have Dark Souls II pre-ordered for PC, but I'm not feeling as ambitious as Grief in beating it by the end of the month

I managed to beat 4 in March. :) My personal best, as I had never beaten four in one month before.

My three:

Cherry Tree High Comedy Club (already beaten)
Puzzle Agent (not started)
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies (just need to beat case 4 & 5)

I really want to get into the Phoneix Wright series, I want Capcom to bring over that 3DS collection to the rest of the world despite being based on the inferior iOS versions.

I actually almost made a deal with a guy on Craigslist for all the main-line DS iterations for $30. Had plans to meet up, but never got back to me on the location.

Catherine
Pokemon Yellow
Super Mario 3D World
Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories (HD 1.5 version)
Devil May Cry (HD Collection version)

Should be able to get through all five of those at the very least. Am just about done with the first three, and the last two I'm around 1/3 through each.

Is it odd that I always split up HD collections into individual games for stuff like this? Mainly because I can't marathon through a whole collection of games from one series without getting bored.

Heh, same like me.

My april list isn't complete. I can't decided which games to choose.
For sure I want to beat again and platinum - inFamous: SS (I haven't got any platinum trophy). I started it again last wednesday - evil powers this time. So my list at this moment:

1. inFamous: Second Son - evil powers
Maybe:
2. Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within (PS3) / Devil May Cry 2 (PS3)
3. Giana Sisters (PS3) /Mercenary Kings (PS4)

This is the most probably.

Gonna try these

MegaMan Star Force 2: I must have started this game sometime last year. Just recently picked it back up as it's one of two game left in my DS backlog. About halfway through I think. This is one of those games where I find the story and characters so uninteresting that it can be hard to motivate myself to play it. At least the battle system is fun.

Sly 2: Gonna try starting this one soon. Bought the Sly Collection awhile back and finished the first one right away. I think I'm ready to try the second now.

Advance Wars: I've had these for years and I think it's time to go through them.

I'm about to finish up Kingdom Hearts 1.5 remix. Once that's done, I'm dedicating April to Metal Gear Solid. I decided it's finally time to stop putting this series off and finally get into it so I grabbed the Legacy Collection. Let's do this.

As for my 3DS now that I'm done with 3D land I'm finally gonna play MH3U, I got that when it was on sale on eshop 2 or 3 months ago. Time to tackle that too.

My list of possibilities for the month:

  • Assassin's Creed III DLC
  • Assassin's Creed IV DLC
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut
  • Final Fantasy X HD
  • Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns
  • Kingdom Hearts (hard)
  • Ratchet & Clank: Nexus
  • Tomb Raider 2013
  • The Witcher 2

Lots of RPGs I want to play, which would spell bad news for my chances if I didn't have the AC DLC on the side.

I actually am trying to cut back on gaming to deal with IRL stuff, but here's my possible list.

  • Dynasty Warriors 8 (Vanillas)
  • Assassin's Creed 4 Freedom Cry
  • Contrast (PS4)
  • Batman Origins (Steam)

I'm mainly playing FFXHD at the moment, slowly, so I don't know if I can finish it or even other games. At the very least I probably will finish Arkham Origins.
