That's not the reason our national team fails.

Coaching at the grassroots level and from ages 8-14 is very poor, it'a basically a bunch of dads screaming over the legitimate coach so their kids to either hoof the ball into the box or get into the box. Until we silence parents at the side of the pitch and concentrate on skill and possession there will be no recovery for English players. The reason there is a lack of quality young English players in the EPL is because they don't exist. The FA has turned into a PR agency and the EPL doesn't really care about the national team because their remit is the commercial success of the EPL, which means strong club football with foreign stars to ensure four Champions League spots and European success on club level.

It's a failure by the FA, not the relegation and promotion system.

Any kid who plays for an ID/Select/State team isnt subjected to this anymore.

Lower class teams, like town teams or school teams are I'm assuming but like I stated in an earlier post Klinsmann controls US soccer all the way down to the youth level now and has expressed this isnt to happen.

My son plays for the state team as well as an east coast ID/developmental league at the U-12 level and on the first day when your kid arrives the parents are ushered into a conference room to learn "Klinsmann's Way" so to say lol

Coaches never yell to the children on the field, other then basic tactics or relaying info. Parents are told not to sideline coach and such.
Even the formation is dictated by Klinsmann (currently at a U-12 level NJ is running a 4-3-3)

This forth of July weekend I will, for another weekend, drop my son off at a local college here in NJ. He will spend Sat--> Tue playing soccer all day then attending soccer class in the evening.
Being a RW/ST he'll have classes not only on the full aspect of that position in the 4-3-3 but every position duties and such.

But yes, the "my parents make me play soccer to get off my fat ass teams" are a train wreck. My sons academy played a team called the Sharks where instead of position the coach named them after sharks...he was like "Timmy go out there and play Great White!"
Parents were screaming at every slight nudge..
My son gets a ton of flack cause he watches and emulates far to much pro players. From holding shirts on corners, time wasting, and yes dives.. he has been the focal point of a few "townie" team parents. He forced a yellow on a defender and the kid literally ran off the field and I'm guessing all the way home a few weeks back, kid was just "mentally" prepared for another youth using legal contact and trickery.

Im deep in the youth soccer game, not coaching but 8 years of this shit...up to 4 days week, 11 months a year, and almost 10 grand per year...
It consumes your life lol

I'm hoping for a Brazil vs. Germany match in the semi-finals. It will be an intense match. I'm rooting for Brazil as I always have been.

If I was the coach of a kids team, I'd sub any divers immediately. get them while their young.

MLS doesn't have enough teams to do a relegation system anyway. Besides, its not like it has worked so well for England.

I do think MLS has to expand to more areas. Some 2nd division places (Rochester, Raleigh, St.Louis maybe?) would support MLS teams.

Ultimately I could see them going to 30 to 40 teams with 2 conferences that do standard-style seasons, then a "playoffs" between the winners in each conference for the Cup.

The best way to raise the standards of the national team, is to have more average players earning a living wage.

Wouldn't most teams close to the end of the match want to go to extra time and get a free sub, instead of trying to close the deal in 90 minutes ? I think that having extra time as a menace (30 more minutes with exhausted players) rather than a reward adds more tension to the game.

1) 30 more minutes of drama/advertising is great for FIFA
2) Actually it would push the weaker teams to attack and try to close the deal before 90 minutes instead of holding out for extra time/penalties. USA missed their chance to snatch the game before Lukaku came on after the 90 and wrecked them.

if germany even survives france, which i currently dont belive

Well we have to survive Costa Rica and Argentina/Belgium first as well, not so sure about all that either.

Losing another final regardless to who would wreck me, but Germany would be that finishing touch.

Well, you'll need to drive a bit for a decent mountain. Might as well make it a vacation.
But the Netherlands will destroy them this time. This year is the year my friend.

Maybe go to France, yell at them for a little for losing to Germany and blame them for everything.

Two matches that would keep me on the edge of the seat. Brazil vs. Germany/France in the semi-finals and Brazil vs. Netherlands in the final. I really hope that the final match will be a meeting between the Brazilians and the Dutch. Anything that involves Brazil is always favorite for me.

put klose in from the start, lahm needs to go right, get rid of mustafi. and let them play like in 2010. that's my expert opinion.

In an ideal world we would have:

Colombia
Germany
Netherlands
Belgium.

Although Brazil and Argentina will more likely go through, both again in a sorta lucky not completely deserved way after Colombia and Belgium squandered their winning opportunities, leaving both countries and fans hartbroken.

It's a shame Germany-France plays before Colombia-Brazil, if it was the other way round it would be easier for me to know who to root for in the first match.
I think Colombia has big chances of passing, and if they do I'd be 50/50 between France and Germany. But if Brazil qualifies, I would want them to face France (France is usually Brazil's black sheep, the crowd tension and reaction would be glorious, whatever the outcome).

1 more Day to probably the most important football match of my life.

Sheeet. For Brazil is just one more game. To me it's all in.

We will probably lose. But we will leave it all. 46 mil. People rooting for you heroes.

Bring it on brazil

If the world cup were anywhere else, you'd be right. But the wc is in brazil... Theres a huge pressure for these players to win the title.

So nervous for tomorrow's match. I know I said the same against Uruguay but now the stakes are higher.

Let's hope that even if we lose, it's not thanks to FIFA.

I hope we don't see any more of those bullshit elbows from France... and no more dives from Robben... We can only dream...

All I want from this World Cup is a new Belgium vs Netherlands match. Football is great, but the rivalries make up a big part of the enjoyment.

And last time they played, it was amazing.
