"After modernising Thomas The Tank Engine and Fireman Sam, toymakers Mattel have now turned their attention to fixer of all, Bob.
Debuting in 1998, he has been a mainstay in childrens television ever since, spawning in addition to toys, a TV series, books and even a number one music single.
The new series retains the emotional warmth that has always given Bob the Builder a firm place in the hearts of young viewers, assured a spokesperson in a statement.
But the changes to your cartoon favourite wont end there. From next year, there will be new sidekick characters, a new setting (Spring City, instead of the rural Fixham) and *gasp* new voice actors.
Lee Ingleby who played Stan Shunpike in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will now voice Bob, while Joanne Froggatt, aka Anna on Downton Abbey, will voice Wendy."
