Platinum #42 - Borderlands - it has been quite a few years since I last invested time into this game. It's still a lot of fun and doing new game+ for the extra XP brought back a lot of good memories. Managed to get some of the DLC trophies in the process, but I think after grinding it out to level 50 I'm going to hold off on finishing the DLC trophies.

I went ahead and finished up my TLOU:R plat earlier, and check out how the game spawned me after loading my save:

lol

edit- BTW, if anyone is working on Terraria, and you have the Pets trophy done, I have both the Corruption and Hallowed worlds trophies. We can trade. I don't know if I have it in me to get all those dumb pets.

1st platinum of 2016 is Driveclub bikes.
Currently working on Battlefront platinum, I'm rank 46/50 and that's the last multiplayer trophy I need. Then to finish up master difficulty.

How was the Driveclub Bikes platinum? I tried to get into the original game but I couldn't get ahold of how to drift :/
I expected it to be harder than the original Driveclub platinum because you have to get all stars, and in Driveclub propper I sucked at time trials. With Bikes I was easily getting all stars on time trials and it didn't take as long as I thought it would because I started it when they had double xp on all bikes. The last couple of trophies are a grind getting all bikes to level 15. Fun game, very good too.

First platinum in a year and a bit, Tales of the Borderlands.

Still only have 16 or so platinums, but in my defence, I was out of the country without my ayatema for over a year, lol

Platinum 125 - The Wolf Among Us (PS3) - Clearly a lesser experience, seemed to have more technical issues in regards to loading and surprisingly framerate. So that brings me to position 78 in the Belgian leaderboards and place 4010 in the world. Would be nice if I could get in the top 4000 again for just a second. I have no plans to stay high in either ranking, but it is fun to see.

Doubt I will get it, but I am going to attempt a Diablo 3 platinum. Seems super time consuming getting each class to level 70.

Mission achieved, in the top 4000 for the moment at 3.995.

Anyone else get disheartened by games with multiple trophy lists?

For instance, I'd like to platinum PayDay 2, Dead Nation, and Dishonoured, but there's a PS3 & PS4 version of each (both of which I have) with separate lists, and I'd feel obligated to get the same platinum twice even though I'd rather do it only once. I blame the devs for including multiple trophy lists. How do you guys handle these situations?

Good for games I like
Bad for games I don't like

You sure Dishonoured is multiple lists? I recall the ps4 version has the ps3 list, separate DLC and all.

Yeah they're the same trophies but separate lists (and platinums), as you can see here:

Not really, I just play the versions I want and maybe replay much later to have a fresh experience.

Yeah, I think that's what I'll do -- plat the PS4 version first, then perhaps I'll plat the PS3 version a couple years down the line if the game's fun enough, since it'll feel fresh by then.

Thought i was doing alright with 11 plats guy on front page with close to 400 made me think otherwise... holy shit

Never be overwhelmed by others, for that's when motivation tends to escape us. Instead, compare your progress to yourself & others in your range, for that's when competitiveness can increase motivation. I remember Jan 2015 when I thought having 40+ plats would take me years... Then I went from ~20 to 43 that same year, lol. Keep setting consistent goals and nothing's out of reach.

After getting no platinums for over 2 years, we have 2 in a week. Maybe I'll try to get another 5-10 this year. Set the goals low. lol

I've got 5 platinums this month (The Witcher 3, Danganronpa 2, Tales from the Borderlands, Game of Thrones, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments), best month in a long while for me.

Think I'll attempt The Last of Us now.

What are everyone elses longest times to plat?

I'm currently working on LBP Vita, anyone wanna help with x2 bubbles/versus levels?

Good haul, I've got 5 so far this month too. What's Sherlock's plat like? I've been thinking about going back to that.

Bioshock in 6 years, 7 months but that is only because of the DLC. Planet 51: The Game at 2 years, 1 month is the longest when it comes to the base game. I basically finished the tutorial, came back a year later for another eight trophies, and then another year later I finished up the game in three days.

My longest plat. I beat my head against the endgame over a long period of time.

Recently platinumed Uncharted 3 remastered and enjoyed it, so I went back to try and do the first game. Boy has it not aged well in comparison, Uncharted 1 kinda sucks.

I have so many old games like Burnout Paradise (lol) where I'm just missing one trophy. I should really go back to it.

Congrats on the plats. Any tips for Borderlands?

How come you kept putting Planet 51 down? Were you savouring it like a fine wine :p

Working on Mad Max with a ton of stuff in the background. Not looking foreword to all the hidden packages in GTA3 that's for sure.

You should get it out of the way early, it's even more annoying with the shotgun mafia pissed at you ready to blow up your car before you know what's happening.

Erm expect a grind I guess. If you have a high level friend they can help a lot to power level, a second controller can be useful too for that. And you should go back, in my experience the trophies you abandoned are never as hard as you remember :D.

Went back after a few years; I had to create 19 user profiles on my PS3 (pre-existing public accounts designed for this trophy boosting) to get that Create trophy. Felt good to sever my ties with the game once and for all.

Funny enough I just finished up the collectibles and 5 star rankings for the 100% in LA Noire last night, and i started that on launch day, summer 2011. My longest gap between first and last trophy will definitely end up being RDR if i ever finish it, another launch day purchase

In my defense, I was primarily playing on the 360 when it came out, and trophies weren't much of a concern for me then, so I didn't pay them any mind.

I've got like 2 trophies left in Resistance 2 i'm planning on getting. superhuman difficulty is one. getting 100 environment kills i think is the other. i've had the game since it launched and that was a long time ago...

I've stopped caring about trophies as much as I used to, but I can't seem to be rid of my compulsion completely. Case in point: I'm nearing 5000 trophies and am stressed about what I want the 5000th to be and how strategic I need to be to do it.

I'm leaning towards it being the Bloodborne platinum btw

It's easy and short, can be done in just one playthrough but due to the nature of the game I don't recommend it since checking a guide spoils the real murderer.

Tell me about it. I'm on platinum 99, and I can't decide about #100. I'm playing Yakuza 5 and Witcher 3 and both take so long.

My second platinum of the month is probably going to end up being Color Guardians. After that I can probably squeeze in Tales from the Borderlands. I still need to finish off a few platinums I wanted to get last year (Godzilla, Destiny), so hopefully I can do those in February.

Finally platted some of my really long term backlog games this month.

What are everyone elses longest times to plat?

5 years 9 months for Call of Duty: World at War and 5 years 1 week for Borderlands.

The funny thing about World at War was that I had borrowed it from a friend over Thanksgiving weekend, ran through it on Veteran racking up a bunch of trophies, then gave it back to him when I saw him at school Tuesday morning. I only needed a few miscellaneous trophies to get the platinum, but I was just high school student without much disposable income at the time so I never bothered to pick up my own copy of the game until just last year. Finally managed to finish it after all of those years.

I have Demon's Soul at ~4 years too :p

One day I'll get back to this one. All I need to do are the Zero G Basketball and Impossible mode trophies, but every time I thinking about
fighting the regenerating necromorph on Impossible difficulty
I chicken out.

You're lucky those are your last two trophies! Superhuman isn't too difficult thanks to the regenerating health and a few encounters you can glitch out. I feel bad for the people who never finished the multiplayer trophies before the servers shut down.

It is fairly alright, just make sure you only go for the standard weapon. It makes sure you always have enough ammo.

The Superhuman trophy is glitched. Completing just the final chapter on Superhuman should net you the trophy. :)

Say, is there some sort of website or thread on the internet that keeps track of which games' online servers are shut down, and which will soon be shutting down?
Due to my huge untouched backlog of older games like the Crysis trilogy, it would be helpful to know how much time I've got left to earn the trophies.

The Unachievable Trophies thread over at PlayStation Trophies keeps pretty good track of what trophies are unobtainable through server closures, glitched trophies, etc. Right now it looks like everyone's trying to sort out if any games have been affected by the removal of Facebook support from the PS3 and Vita.

EA and Ubisoft are two publishers to watch when it comes to server closures, but I don't know what their support pages are. Sony had a support page that listed upcoming server closures for first party titles, but they recently moved it and I can't find it anymore. They'll also sometimes tweet about it from the @PlayStation handle.

Nice, bookmarked that thread. It sounds like there's no central hub that keeps track of upcoming server closures, which is disappointing. Be sure to post that Sony link if you ever find it.

I've never been against online trophies, but recently it's really gotten to me how so many games' plats are unachievable because of them. It shows that the devs don't seem to take trophy hunters seriously, which is upsetting.

In a perfect world, trophy hunters would be respected by devs and games with shutdown servers (like Resistance, MAG) would have a brief annual period (1-2 weeks) of server uptime each year to give us a chance to finish off the online trophies.

Joni

That list is proof why it is shouldn't be allowed to add multiplayer Trophies and Achievements, or why it should be okay to hack those.

Yeah I'm much more conscious of online trophies these days, especially after the Gamespy closure. I still have a lot of online heavy trophy lists on my profile, and while it might be easier just to make a new profile, I don't want to give up my (now unobtainable) Resistance 2 and Section 8: Prejudice plats :p.

Games I still need to finish with online include:

Aliens vs Predators
Armored Core: Verdict Day
Battlefield: Bad Company
Far Cry 2
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (currently working on this one with a boosting group, actually)
Killzone 2
Medal of Honor: Warfighter
Red Faction: Guerrilla
Starhawk (no one plays this anymore)
Time Crisis: Razing Storm (good fucking luck with this one. Seriously, do not add this game to your trophy list if you're looking to keep a good completion percentage).
Warhawk

So yeah, wish me luck!

Or make bots mandatory in MP games. This way you can even experience the "Multiplayer" while playing solo. Killzone Mercenary did this, even though it was added as a DLC you had to buy.
