DIZZZZZZZZZZZZZZYYYY!!!!

Well find out your good the netcode is come next week. With the latest trailer yesterday and this news today I just can't contain my excitement.

Edit: Goddammit top of the page.

Then the game shouldn't be $60.

This game is launching with an extremely light amount of content. I shouldn't have to put in a ton of work to unlock the DLC. I don't mind if I have to put in some work but if I'm having to grind for dozens of hours to unlock a single character, that's bullshit. And if I choose to pay for the season pass instead, I'm basically paying $80 for the amount of content that would have normally been given to me in a $60 fighting game.

Splatoon, for all of its issues, handled this better. If you're going to launch your game like this, it needs free DLC post-launch and that DLC needs to be easy to obtain. I'm almost certainly waiting for a price drop now.

I realize many in this thread will disagree with me and that's totally fine.

That seems to be a personal value judgement. I certainly don't think the game is light on content and would gladly pay $60.

I also see nothing wrong with the unlock system because it's pretty much the same sort of grind in Rainbow Six: Siege, where it works fine.

Apples and Oranges. Characters in a fighting game are major pieces of content. They're the meat of the game. Smash would be a better comparison. While it did launch with a ton more characters, a lot of people find too many at launch overwhelming, but the DLC was not free/earnable because a lot of work goes into the characters compared to other content. I don't think expecting fighting game characters to be free and easy is necessarily reasonable for a game that is planned to have a 5+ year life where that content usually would be a paid update. That's a ton of money to give up over a long time.

That being said I think 16 is a bit low, which is probably why they are making the first one easy to obtain to get people hooked on the free to earn system. So light initially, but over time for this model I think it's reasonable.

u could just wait until June to pick it up, new modes and the big story mode are all being added for no charge. It definitely does have free DLC coming, just wait.

Agreed. I made a decent amount of fight money playing the beta so unless they change how much money you make from playing online, I don't have a problem with it.

You know KI was just first to market, they didn't pioneer anything, it's a fun game, but let's stop trying to credit unwarranted things to the team.

Sorry but nobody else had that type of 1 character per month DLC before that IIRC. Give credit where it is due.

They are PS3 controllers after all.
The option says "connect a PS3 compatible arcade stick or another USB device".
awwwwee fook yea!!!! I love gaming with my PS3 pad, found it extremely comfortable and actually played Better with it than a stick. With the easier inputs, I don't think I'm going to have to learn stick to be good especially since I'm playing shoto and charge characters in this one.

Gonna order a brand new DS3 this week!! Great news for me.

I didnt have the luck to play against Peruanos, though some of the worst lag ridden matches were against other Argentinos @__@
But really, no netcode in the world can help bad connections.

That what it probably means, everyones story plus survival mode. It was similar when unlocking sin in ggxrd

And arcade story mode unlocks an alternate costume (to purchase) while survival unlocks colors, so it's kinda two birds with one stone.

What else is Capcom going to do if they don't want to keep releasing updates on disc and want PC PS4 players to play together? The Moba scene has been started this movement and it was a logical and natural step for fighting games if they wanted a shorter release schedule. Give credit to KI for doing it first? Sure, but I seriously doubt it was the inspiration for any decisions in SFV. This is the trend of the entire industry. Is Gran Turismo copying KI too? Smash brothers? Come on...

One per month because can earn less fight money in that time/more likely to pay with cash. I assume.

So do we need go through all that crap that USFIV on PS4 needed for PS3 stick use, or is it plug and play?

We don't know yet. Apparently we'll have official details later today from a Capcom stream.

That's great that they added PS3 stick support. This was going to be the selling point for me as I wasn't going to buy another stick. But I feel kind of gutted that I know I won't have the time/passion any more to devote as much time as previous SF games. SF5 will be the first one I don't buy, kind of gutted but I can't justify the level of commitment these games demand. Damn, I'm getting old :(

meh SFV is pretty easy to pick up and pkay. If your have basic fundamentals just pick a character like birdie with great normals and you'll own a bunch of players. It's the easiest sf to just pick up and play since sf2 IMO

YOOOOOO PS3 controller support?! Fuck. Yes. I was so close to buying another stick and I really didn't want to.

Fight money amount is fine. Nothing is worst than XDZW's method of taking money away from players every month, even if the cost of characters were 11200 max.

If you don't think that it has enough features to justify the price, then that's view. But they're going to be adding other single player content like the non-artwork storymode free. Characters are a completely different beast. No retail fighting game has ever offered DLC characters for free. And like I said, Capcom already mentioned that you were going to have to work for these characters. That should be expected. If you just needed to be the game with one character to have enough for another character, then they might as well just give them all away for free because that'd be way too easy.

It's a fighting game at the end of the day. They're built to be played regularly. If you play it like that then you should continually have the Fight Money ready for the next character. But you're going to have to "grind" for them.

Yes, the moba scene started the whole free movement. That's well known. You say how else was Capcom going to do it? Well...they could have done it like they did USFV with a download if you already owned SSFV:AE or whatever version. MKX didn't follow the same path as KI and they have DLC characters (and are making updates to the game). Capcom probably saw how KI was doing it and saw that was a better direction to go with. Yes, it was a natural progression for fighting games but releasing a character a month, nah, that was KI's doing (even doing story mode later) especially when they could have waited and released all the DLC characters at the same time. It's ok to give credit.

The one character a month mention was edited out of the article before it was taken down entirely. That aspect didn't make any sense based on what Capcom had previously said.

If you're paying $60 for this game, you aren't looking hard enough. Best Buy GCU has it cheaper. Amazon Prime has discounts. GMG has PC version 20% off. It's 36.07 for PC version on cdkeys.

the game is $60 full stop for those who want it digitally on ps4

a fair price, imo

1 char. per month contradicts what capcom has previously said. Dont think thats true...

Anyways, Alex being the first is so goood.

I have absolutely zero issues with paid DLC characters in fighting games. My issue is the state SF V is launching in. It's incredibly barebones. If you're going to launch a $60 game with a light content load, I expect easily obtainable, free DLC for the foreseeable future. 16 characters at launch and only a handful of modes is completely unacceptable if free DLC isn't on the way shortly afterwards. And no, I don't consider grinding for dozens of hours to be "free". I do commend Capcom for creating a free story mode update though, which launches in June.

Capcom should have made all DLC until September completely free with little to no grinding and then started charging for characters after that point. 22 characters seems perfectly reasonable at $60.

Again, I understand that many here won't see it this way and I'm not saying you're all suckers or anything of the sort. I'm simply giving my opinion and my reasoning for why I won't be picking this up at launch, despite being a fan of the franchise.

I partially agree, only because other fighting games have a ton of single player content. And in this day and age thats kinda unacceptable. Grinding characters is fine by me, however.

I don't want to get mt hopes up for nothing regarding the PS3 DS3 pad/fight pads, but If someone would be kind enough to answer; was it possible to play with a ps3 fightpad or DS3 on USFV for the PS4?

PS3 stick support has got me interested in this game now. Had no intention of getting it until now. Nice one Capcom.

Yes because you are wrong, Splatoon isn't the example you should be looking for since that wasn't worth the price at launch and had locked most of the content on the disc even for free.

I feel that this is worth it and you probably will disagree but I will get tons of hours playing online and with friends.

There is one point we can agree on then. If Capcom does the one character a month thing I'd say it's reasonable to say they looked at ther models in the genre like KI for inspiration. Just some people want to credit Capcoms entire approach to SFV to KI as if it's some mega successful franchise that everyone wants to imitate. Ono has said they wanted PC Ps4 players for a long time, wanted to grow the competitive aspect, wanted to make the game as accessible as ever while not giving players a bunch of updates and disc to buy etc...this was certainly its own creation, but yeah that aspect of how they are releasing DLC could certainly be inspired by other fighting games.

Splatoon may not have been worth the price at launch but it's received an insane amount of content post-launch, all free.

SF V, in my opinion, is not worth $60 price at launch and since it will be quite difficult for the average player to receive the DLC for free post-launch, won't be worth $60 then either. Unless of course there is a bunch of free content coming that I'm unaware of. If SF V had comparable modes to other fighting games in 2016 at launch, I really wouldn't care about the lack of characters.

Does the PS3 stick support mean all sticks? I have a Virtua High Grade stick packed away somewhere. Did that work with USF4 on PS4?
