2016 Special Announcement Edition has me thinking we might see something else? I'm probably getting my hopes up for nothing though lol.

That last match was such BULLSHIT, I would have been raging if I was on the receiving end haha

The funny part is that in SF3 all you have to do is tap a direction right when it hits and you either block it or parry it and punish him hard. It's really not that great xD

But SF5 doesn't have parry ;)

Well I guess I'm back to buying the PS4 version.

I wouldn't let it discourage you.

Banning ps3 sticks as a whole is overkill. Banning PS3 +DS4 combo...sure. But a PS3 with a Brooks converter? No issues that I can see.

You just plug the USB of the stick cord into the USB open slot for the small converter, and plug that into the controller slot on the PS4. Nothing extra going on here.

The converter is $30.00 I believe online to purchase.

Still cheaper to pay $90-$120 for a TE, or the one you have already, and an extra $30 for the converter.

But Ryu and Gief can parry :V
Technically so could Nash and Dictator too.

I quoted that post in order to respond, but forgot to type it out lol. I agree with you.

I have a BlazBlue Continuum Shift Tournament LE for the PS3 that I'm hoping to use with my PS4. Besides SFV now with this announcement and MKX, what other PS4 fighting games support PS3 fightsticks? I'm thinking about picking up Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- or BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND, but only if I can use my existing fightstick.

Lawd.gif about ps3 stick support

I am a little worried it may have like 1 frame lag or something vs a native ps4 stick due to some technical crap. I hope not but I'll keep my expectations low for now just in case.

I feel stupid for asking but in order to get into Capcom Cup, we need to qualify at the Regional Ranking events or the Global Premier events? Also online leaderboards will be a qualifying factor?

How about EVO? Can anyone just walk in off the streets and compete at EVO?
Yeah tournaments will have the same anyone can take it feel as before. By qualify for ranking events they likely mean you get seeded and a trip to the event. So instead if getting tossed into a pool wih like Daigo and Smug and getting mopped you go to a pool with only one killer.

Why is having to have a DS4 connected to use a PS3 stick such a big deal?

It depends on how it's implemented.

USF4 and MKX required a DS4 be synced and on for both players at all times, meaning that you needed a USB hub to play it in a tournament setting.

Skullgirls' implementation, on the other hand, lets you connect two sticks and turn off the DS4 once everything's set.

It really just boils down to how Capcom has set up their controller/account pairing code. With MKX, I believe they found a workaround so that turning off the DS4 didn't disable the account, but Capcom's code may be more rigid than that.

And since that code is something that likely comes along earlier in development, changing it around to add a driver late in development is likely seen as too risky.

There were some reports that using our stick driver on USF4 might've added a frame of lag, but there were also some that said it had a frame of lag less than a PS4 peripheral so... I don't know what to tell you.

There isn't any lag in Skullgirls, but it could just come down to how they implemented it.

Thanks for the info. I hope for the PS4 players this won't be too much of a pain.

Alex teaser?

it was at the end of the new trailer released just now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKdbdT9Cgb4

Me too. That's a ton for each character!

Exactly. It's either play for hours on end (in which some people don't have time for due to jobs, wives &/or children, etc.) or to pay up for the season pass to get the characters.

Though keep in mind, if you buy the season pass, and then proceed to play the game a lot, you will probably be able to buy a few/all of the season 2 characters with fight money as soon as they are released.

It's probably fine for home play and online but yeah I can see PS3 sticks being banned for tournaments, which is fine too. Since I'm just gonna be an online guy it should be OK for me

Well dual shock 4s are usually allowed at tourneys so we'll see what happens I guess.

Lets be honest. Capcom don't want people getting characters for free.

The poverty side of fighting game players isn't exactly impressed by the degree of exploitation people are assigning to Capcom. Arcsys fans will continue to be annoyed for the rest of all game iterations, and PC MKX players are fucked harder than anyone since they were basically scammed from ever getting the whole package in any way.

So when is this stream that's meant to be happening?

Seeing as we're getting Alex teases I gather we're going to see a trailer.
