Ended up passing out. So...they did all this just for a straight Roman Reigns win?

Methinks the entire reason this PPV existed was to give subscribers a second PPV within a month's subscription.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
I guess they've succeeded in creating a wrestler people would unambiguously cheer for if he had to fight John Cena.

But at this point I suspect Cena would do the job for Roman because Cena loses clean at least some of the time (he just gets his 5050 win back). Roman has lost clean 0 times. The only PPV he ever got pinned at was due to heavy cheating.

Weirdest thing about the ending is HHH spent months screwing Roman Reigns out of the title and title shots and what not. Succeeded in getting it off of him at the Rumble, he immediately put him in a #1 Contendership match and when he won strutted out to show that he's hyped for the match... he's the heel he should be pissed Reigns is getting his shot again.

He should have been out there trying to screw Reigns.

Renee's going to be jealous.

But then he'd be a chickenshit heel. And Triple H isn't allowed to be a chickenshit heel. All of the other heels are chickenshit heels... but not him. Never him.

That was a very wise edit.

And Roman actually has lost clean. Hell, his WM loss is a clean loss going by the rules.

Yeah. Thats been one of the big things with this entire mania push.

They clearly wanted to recapture the Daniel Bryan mania 30 magic but that doesnt work when you are giving the guy a title shot at every PPV and he is the centrepiece of every TV show you do.

WM main event is some classic Triple H booking though.

Triple H gets to be champ again.
Triple H gets to main event mania.
Triple H gets to be the one everyone is cheering for.
Triple H will put the other guy over but the only think anyone will remember is "remember that time Roman Reigns won wrestlemania and got booed out of the arena"

Renee's going to be jealous.

Like I said his entire storyline up to now has been screwing Roman Reigns over, all of a sudden he's just handing him opportunities and showing him "respect".

If people had a reason to give a damn about anything other than the main event they might not turn on Vince every time he finds a new golden boy to push, because they'd have other things to keep their attention.

Frankly it might have been one of my favortie parts, but I'm super biased, The Social Outcasts are just hilarious to me

Social Outcasts fucking rule

And you know what's the saddest thing about the PPV? The stream died for me near the end of the New Day/Edge Christian segment so I missed the social outcasts... ::shakes head::

So when you reach a certain age, you aren't allowed to be a star anymore? It doesn't depend on your performance?

lmfao don't pull this bullshit.

Acting like you and others didn't shit on Show, Kane, Batista, Henry, etc for all of 2014 and 2015 half because of their age specifically. Yet now, because it's a guy you like (also a ridiculous homophobe, for the record), "why does age matter"

That top gif can go in some of the tumblrs I think, with the way Roman is majestically swishing his hair around like he's in a shampoo commercial.

Heath Slater is the man. I love him, as I've said a ton of times, reminds me of Disco Inferno, can work a march and can stay "over" despite being a total loser. Bo Dallas was hilarious tonight.

That's not the weirdest thing at all. Listen to any promo by Vince or HHH on Reigns and they constantly just give him a verbal blowjob to the audience when they're supposed to pretend like they dislike him.

Kane, Show etc are old and slow. Look at Henry, injured just this past RAW.

You think if Show was still performing like he was in his prime (assuming he had one) people would mind as much?

We're talking about AJ Styles, who performs better than anyone else on the roster, and someone is saying "he's 38, he should lose always".

Just heard the results.

It's amazing how out of touch Vince is. HHH is going to be the face at mania, just like when he fought Cena ten years ago, but Reigns doesn't have the base Cena had built up before that match. How does this help Reigns?

Also lol at the wyatt family losing

Just fast forwarded through Fastlane, that ppv was abysmal. AJ vs Jericho was the best part. Did AJ leave all his gear in Japan, he keeps wearing the same ones. Also fire Ziggler he's terrible ive had enough of this guy its been a decade already.

I can't believe Jericho kicked out of the Styles Clash. The response from the crowd to that move was almost like a banned move. Should have been protected.

Also that ending was basically Roman winning the Royal Rumble lol. Fireworks ending sign pointing the works.

I don't think he should lose always but agree he shouldn't main event this company, where there's a stacked enough talent even of just people that need to be called up. Look at that NXT roster, think about who could come up in just a year, and tell me they're all going to main event, especially when injured people like Seth come back healthy. It can't be done. No matter how bad some here may want it: They can't all main event, they can't all be the face of the company, they can't all be The Guy.

This is another thing I don't get. There are valid complaints people can have about Reigns, no matter how wrong I think they are, but...this.

As plainly as I can put this, and I'll honestly try my best to be nice with this one because I know how much second chances you guys give him for NXT: It is 2016. HHH is World Champ. HHH won the Rumble (even semi-recently, a month ago exactly even!). HHH is main eventing Wrestlemania, and HHH is doing so against a guy who is going to be booed.

It is misleading to put all of the blame on Vince in this current particular situation, and simultaneously act like HHH is just going along for the ride and had no insight or knowledge or opinion or power over any of that happening.

Everything I've ever heard about wwf says Vince calls the shots and has the final say, and Vince wants Reigns as champ, and it has been his project. You just have to look at how much of Raw has been devoted to him over the last six months to see that.

I don't doubt HHH has a massive ego and wouldn't say no to being champ again, so may be enabling Vince, but at the end of the day it's Vince's call, and Vince at the moment is doing everything he can think of to put Reigns over...and he apparently thinks this includes a HHH/Reigns mania main event.

And if HHH had so much stroke, the nxt women wouldn't have been put into those godawful teams when they got pushed up to raw

It doesn't matter whether David Kapoor, Ed Koskey, or Michael Hayes are head of writing, or whether Stephanie or HHH is head of creative. Everything still has to go through Vince. And it's why we see the same problems resurface time and time again.

Vince is definitely at the root of the WWE's issues... BUT is Triple H manipulating this set of circumstances to A) put himself over, B) sabotage Vince and C) undermine Roman's push despite the fact that we're headed to title win #3 in a 5-month span? Undeniably.

I thought it was hilarious on the pre show with booker t going we have had loads of injuries leading into road to wrestlemania but its wrestlemania so itll be ok lol.

Regarding triple h vs roman vince Probs got a boner few ppvs back when roman kicked shit out of triple h n roman got cheered. Although i dont think vince understands why people cheered roman then considering hes acted like a pussy since

HHH is plan Z because so many others fell through, and its fine. The problem isn't HHH with the belt, it's Reigns not being "there" yet, and getting Luger'd for a year and a half.

The only thing that got me excited from this PPV, was when they played a clip from Smackdown. It was a recap of AJ Styles vs Jericho.....and there was this unfamiliar voice calling the match...I don't watch Smackdown...but damn... who was that commentator and why isn't he calling PPV matches? He sounded exciting.

Sasha Banks and Social Outcasts were the only other mildly interesting things going on in this PPV ...i guess...Sasha works better as a singles wrestler tho.

LOL @ Triple H trying to mug for a "perfect picture" with Romaine Rans with the belt. Hahaha - horrible.

Not sure if it's been said but my theory about the Styles Clash is Jericho kicked out so that it can basically go on the shelf except for rare occasions and the calf crusher will be his finisher.

This is probably what's going on. The guys on the WWE roster are so big overall that it's way more problematic here.

Abyss always took the Styles clash like a champ. Although that may be more down to him being a freakishly good wrestler for a big man. Ten years ago he was a superb wrestler. He's not all that anymore, but once upon a time he was a freak in the ring for a man his size.

Mauro Ranallo, a former MMA/NJPW commentator, and yeah, he's fantastic.

Added to that is the fact that Lawler has turned heel and is better then he's been since 2000, their combo has made smackdown a much more pleasant show to watch then raw.

Didn't Styles have to modify it though? I seem to remember him having to put abyss in a standard piledriver position and falling forward instead of the usual position.

Edit: what's this about Styles being a homophobe?

I don't know what people expected out of the main event. Of course Roman won. Is it supposed to be Brock vs. HHH AGAIN? HHH vs Dean has no story. Roman vs. HHH is the only storyline that has some semblance of build up, though it's pretty hilarious since it's almost a carbon copy rip off of Bryan's road to Wrestlemania. Both finally won the championship, lose it immediately due to a cash in, win it back like a month later, and lose it again in some unfair fashion, only to grab it a third time at Wrestlemania.

I think a lot of people want to like Reigns, but he is being booked in a poor way with no weight behind any of his matches. Everything just seems so phony and it's hard to connect with him as a character. I initially hated the idea of turning Reigns heel because that sounded like a typical smark solution and doesn't solve the biggest problem WWE is facing (having main event faces that draw), but honestly corporate champ Reigns would probably work out better. Though again, you have no real face for him to go against (god not Cena) so there's really no point.

And WHY did the Wyatts lose? Who the hell is Brock going to face at Mania? Everyone assumed it would be the Wyatts in some form but I don't see how you can just job them out to the TITANS and then make them a threat for Brock at Mania.

Save us Nakamura

those guys are flabby and sick. aj styles is a crazy good talent at the moment. therein lies the difference. much of the roster aint working like that, including the younger ones

Edit: what's this about Styles being a homophobe?

i think he used "fag" a bunch of times a few years ago, which I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of testosterone-fueled wrestlers said tbh. thankfully the word has become very politically incorrect so no more throwing that one around. also this hilarious soundbite:

My quick take aways

Sasha continues to be the most exciting woman's wrestler and it's not even close.
Kevin Owens actually making a Ziggler match good, what a guy.
Big Bore and Botchback in 2016, amazing. What a waste, give me Wyatts vs Bullet Club already.
Divas title match... yawn.
AJ and Jericho match was awesome, really awesome. Hope they give AJ a big match at mania.
Yeah... that cutting edge segment, pure cringe.
Whatever that clusterfuck was after, pure cringe too.
Main event was average, but come on, that outcome. They could have actually done something we weren't all expecting, you know, push the guy who's actually over and could have put on a entertaining match against trips. Vince's hard on for roman is disturbing.

Ambrose was pure amazing in that match with Brock.
Slapping Brock and Brock going ballistic was gold, and Brock and Ambrose have great chemistry.
Reigns can't keep being carried and hidden.

Sasha and Becky were great.
That other Diva match was just pathetic and total garbage. It was seriously disrespectful to all of the effort that the other women have put in.
AJ and Jericho was a good match, Jericho tried to kill AJ a couple of times there, and AJ I think has proven that he can work WWE style matches so bring on the future.
New Day and E&C were great, maybe a face turn for New Day?
Wyatts are a joke, Ryback trying his best to injure his way through the roster. Show putting in work, have to give it to him.
Kevin Owens can do no wrong, good match and good solid win.

when watching this live the WWE network was kind enough to use its inconsistency to spare me two things.

The first being that shortly into the divas title match it just froze completely causing me to hard reset the console and then sit through 10 minutes of checking for data corruption thus allowing me to miss the match and instead watch a percentage bar increase, possibly the stronger option.

And most magnificently as soon as Reigns hit Ambrose with the spear it skipped ahead 5 seconds to the sound of Lillian yelling "..REIGNS!" thus ensuring I avoided any false hope kick outs by skipping the pinfall entirely.
