Coke Zero Is Dead. Long Live 'Coca-Cola No Sugar'

Practically this entire thread. Got any evidence to back up your toxic claim? Cause I'll get out ahead and say most research on it is completely biased or just myth in general.

Regular soda is arguably toxic, the sugar has a damaging effect on your metabolism because the liver can't process fructose properly. But that's another topic we don't need to devolve into. Besides, this is sugar-free soda we're talking about.

If it still tastes okay I guess I'm okay with it, although I'd sooner see the demise of the terrible Diet Coke.

Coke Zero is no Diet Dr. Pepper but it's my second go-to.

This sounds weird, at least if it happens in North America. I was under the impression Coke Zero is pretty popular. I am definitely a big fan, have a can just about every day with dinner. Regular Coke doesn't taste as good to me anymore, though it's probably just about what you're used to, as I very rarely drink non-diet soft drinks anymore.

I guess my tastes aren't very refined.

I like Coke Zero. Noticed that in a place I go to a lot, suddenly it was gone and replaced by the no sugar stuff.

It tastes the same to me, or at least close enough that I couldn't tell.

edit: the packaging is virtually the same as Coke Zero, so there is obviously an attempt to make it look like it's the same product. Same black can.

So this Coke no sugar is using Stevia, right?

It's the way to go. Stevia is a legit healthy sweetener.

I believe that already existed, in some parts of the world at least, as Coca-Cola Life and it was awful, in fact I think they tried to relaunch it after a while and failed again.

I disagree with those saying that Coke Zero doesn't taste like regular Coke. It's pretty close honestly.

Diet Coke doesn't quite hit the mark for me. It lacks flavor.

Plus, we have awesome things like Cherry Coke Zero and Vanilla Coke Zero which are also high tier.

It's no different than what happened to Pepsi Max then. Just a re-branding.

They are different, but it's close enough.

Diet Coke is shit, same with Diet Dr. Pepper.

Wish more places had Dr. Pepper 10 around since that tastes almost exactly the same as regular Dr. Pepper and has only 10 calories per can :(
The "Ten" versions of all those sodas (Dr. Pepper, Canada Dry, Sunkist, 7-Up, A&W) taste better. The slight bit of sugar (plus whatever else is in the recipe) makes a big difference.

Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry is good though.

Why the hell is coke always fucking around with thier shit?

"Half of people didn't realize it had no sugar" isn't that a success? (Maybe they are looking at people who never tried it yet). Still what did those people think zero meant?

The thing with "Coke Zero doesn't taste like Coke" is that you're right, until you force yourself to drink Coke Zero for a few weeks, and then it just starts tasting like regular Coke and regular Coke tastes like pure sugar.

This is true. It's been a long time since I tried Coke Zero but I switched to Life a while ago and had a similar experience. Going back to regular Coke or Pepsi was crazy.

I should quit it all together though.

Stevia is awesome. Truvia is some bull shit that causes hives and other stuff.

edit: cherry coke zero is really good though. I've noticed that a lot of the products I like have gone away and have been replaced with crappier new products.

this. diet never stopped tasting weird, but now coke zero is canonical coke to me and sugar coke is an absolutely insane product that i think should probably be banned.

Pepsi with Real Sugar is better than Coke Zero by a mile. Caffeine-free Coke doesn't get enough love. Gold can for life!

I don't drink much coke, but I honestly have never really understood all the diet differences

Ya got

Coke Zero
Diet Coke
Coke lifestyle

All "healthier" cokes and diet in some sort of way. Maybe they are changing the name to make things more clear

And it tastes horrible. Well, after more than a couple sips anyway.

I just stick with the regular kind because in Canada at least the flavor is good (don't much care for 100% corn syrup US coke though) and when I buy diet I end up drinking more soda which means I get more aspartame which leads to chronic head aches.

Treat pop the way it's really meant - an occasional treat , not so much as something to drink instead of water at every opportunity and you won't have to juggle diet or regular.

Of course, if you're diabetic then disregard that statement. You don't have much choice in the matter thanks to genetics so hopefully you can find a diet soda that you enjoy.

This is amazing, Coke Zero almost killed me.

Is coke no sugar supposed to have the same flavor as regular coke? I would lose my shit if I could find a sugar free alternative that tastes the same
Coke Zero was supposed to have the same flavour as regular Coke. It obviously didn't (but still tastes a hell of a lot better than Diet). They claim the new formula is even closer, but how can we believe them, when the marketing slogan for Coke Zero was "Tastes like Coke. No joke."?

I don't get why people are against this when normal Coke has the best flavour of all it's variants?

Also when the ingredient list of Coke No Sugar is identical to Coke Zero's minus one preservative. Also when the whole pitch of Coke Zero was that it tastes like regular Coke (it doesn't, at all, but it's closer than whatever the hell Diet Coke is supposed to taste like). The closer they get it to real Coke taste, the better.

I didn't like Life that much at first. I thought it sucked unless it was really cold out of the fridge. If you let it sit for over 25min it tasted like crap. Over time I came to really enjoy it. Now its all I drink soda wise.

I don't mind a reformulation if it's an improvement, but things can go very wrong if people don't like the new flavour - see New Coke. But most people are up in arms with the name change too.

They've built up the Coke Zero brand over the past 11 years. Everybody knows what it is. "I'll have a Coke - No Sugar please" is really weird, people will probably just continue calling it Coke Zero anyway.

They did that in Mexico a couple of months ago. Couldn't find Zero anywhere until an employee pointed me out to the No-Sugar cans.

They're great.
