I wanted Tech TV/G4 for so long, but by the time I finally got it, it turned into Spike TV Jr. & had less video games and more Cops reruns.

Also oh boy, Cinematech: Noctural Emissions sure was alluring when you're a teen boy.

Blister!, Cheat (the earlier version), Arena, Game On, Judgment Day, X-Play (first few seasons), Cinematech, and the Electric Playground were my jams.

Nocturnal emissions was that show designed for young teens to feel naughty watching I also like watching regular cinematech but my favorite show was probably icons it was fun watching a documentary about famous video game stuff

Team Killua blasting off agaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin]
Meowth, dat's right!

Now this is a story we gotta hear.
Not much of a story? I'll have to remember, though

So far, what I can extrapolate is that DTL and I were both going through the HxH2011 anime back when it was first airing

They seem a bit more open/talkative on this site (kinda like me), which made it hard to figure out. That much I can tell, for now, and that's why it's taken this long

I feel like the only times I watch cable anymore is for occasional sports (mainly baseball), Toonami, History Channel if not much is on (mainly for American Pickers and Forged in Fire) and that's about it. Maybe a movie channel if something's on and I have nothing better to do.

I know I used to watch G4 a lot when I could (mostly X-Play, Attack of the Show and Ninja Warrior). I think it's Esquire Network now if I remember correctly?
Yeah, I gave up cable after my bundle jumped in price by $30/mo & I really only watched Toonami & FXX. Heck, I think Charter might've forgotten to revoke my TV rights for logging into websites since I can still use it to access episodes of Simpsons online.

But yeah, on Dec. 31st, 2014, the network shut down & became Esquire. There was just no point in a gaming channel in this day & age of the internet. Before then, yeah, the internet was still new/slow so it wasn't as easy getting all your info.

Icons was great, it was my first exposure learning more about video games & their history. I think it's what made me more interested in seeking out stuff like artbooks, documentaries, etc. so I could gain more knowledge & better appreciate what I was playing.

Yeah, I don't pay for the cable since I live with my brothers and grandma (helping her out and stuff while living here) and she pays for it.

And, yeah, I definitely agree a gaming channel and network is not really going to do well in this day and age. Hell, some people are probably going toward just having Netflix and other such streaming services instead of cable.

Samus Returns hurts my fucking hands guys
Long periods of Spider Ball = Oh god, I wish I could use the D-pad.

It's also a pain when I want to quickly turn into the morph ball while in mid-air, but otherwise, the controls haven't been as bad as I thought it'd be, aside from having to switch weapons via touch screen.

Probably worth reposting this and this from ArchedThunder in the dub OT:

Interesting stuff, thanks for bringing that to the Toonami thread. TIL we have a super dub OT, cool

It'll be cool watching the dub's visual quality improve at a weekly rate, rather than my weekend binge of the sub up to the end of the 4th arc, show looks REALLY GOOD these days

welp missed all of Toonami after that bullshit scene in JoJo. Anything other than HxH worth catching up on?

...ya know, thinking about it, it's kind of funny that someone defended that Jojo episode as "an 80s thing" when it's actually a 2014 thing 'cause the manga didn't have any of that shit.

I just realized the episode of Super for this week talked about Blue Super Sayan power, when Goku never even used it!

Edit: Nope, never mind, just regular Super Sayan.
Sounds about right.

Outlaw Star and Bebop were pretty good, if you haven't seen either of those.
Lupin was pretty ok too.

Would Anne still be a character if Stardust Crusaders was from this day & age?

Either way, still boils down to it being the anime episode directors' fault

*looks at Eromanga Sensei, which stars a 12 year old who draws pervy pics for her brother's light novels & is written by the OreImo author*

.......probably.

Unless Araki changed much in the alternate timeline part 4 will be more like part 7 so no

Specifically on Araki's terms, I mean

I am trying to prove that Araki is way better than this, and Anne is mainly around due to editor interference as cntr's been saying

"Anime is garbage" "This series is absolute trash"

-People in my circles on twitter last night, and on YouTube just a few moments ago.

Both of which are completely unrelated to Toonami of last night

what was it about?

The first guy is sick of seeing fellow artists draw in an "anime style", then he promptly posts "this is my favorite Naruto character *shows a picture of Drew Pickles*"

Second guy is a YouTuber going off on Fairy Tale, and...Kenichi sort of, I guess??

They Poochie her guys.

They Poochie her in a single episode, so hard.
She looks like a filler character from Tokyo Ghoul.

Maybe...maybe they should watch better anime.

Fairy Tale is totally understandable, but...Strongest Disciple Kenichi? I...guess if you want to nitpick the fanservice at times, okay, but I recall that series being rather decent.

Plot summary for those who didn't watch the PPG episode :

  • [*]Blossom and Buttercup start getting worried about Bubbles obsession with her imaginary friend Bliss and it's tiny pet elephant Me (cue a bunch of tired Who's On First style "comedy"), with them eventually just tying Bubbles up because they think she's dangerously insane

[*]In the monster fight at the end of the 1st part (this is a 5 parter), Bliss finally reveals herself to the other sisters & the Professor while saving them from the episode's villain.

[*]It's revealed that Bliss was the result of a previous attempt by Utonium to create "the perfect little girl" 10 years ago that got tainted with Chemical W (Utonium also had issues with Chemicals A through V), and her powers (literally DBZ style "scream and explosions happen" type stuff) were too unstable and after injuring Utonium she left to live alone on a deserted island (which is where she met Me).

[*]Initially Bliss is uncertain about being a super hero due to how little control she has over her powers, but eventually manages to get a hold of them with the other girls' help.

[*]Despite this, the Professor still doesn't feel she should be out there with the rest of the team, driving a wedge between the two of them.

[*]Me tries to turn Bliss against her family and is eventually revealed to be Him (cue more Who's On First shit), absorbs Bliss and starts wreaking havoc on Townsville, even going so far as to send Saturn on a collision course with Earth.

[*]The girls eventually break Bliss free, Voltron their dumb Green Lantern aura shit into a giant PPG and beat Him

[*]Bliss goes into space to re-align the planets after Him fucked them up.

So yeah, it was...meh.

Spoiler tagging if anyone gives a shit

*Hiei powers up and rips off some of Ruka's chords in the process*
Demon's: "umm...maybe we should root for Hiei."
First guy needs FotNS and JoJo in his life

Second guy...he seriously needs to get back to reviewing JoJo. He stopped right after DiU episode 1
That idiot didn't even make it to the best parts.

Is the conversation mostly about the east coast airing or do you guys cater to west coast too?

Mostly east coast, though since it runs so damn long we've had people start talking about the west coast shows just as TOONAMI is winding down.

That idiot didn't even make it to the best parts.

Well, Berserk is one of his favorite things, but yeah I am hoping he at least gets to reviewing Part 5 when that comes out.

He loves Part 2, and the general consensus I've noticed back in the day is that Parts 2 & 5 were among the favorites (the days before the anime entailing poor-quality translations for each Part, not just Part 5)

I thought this week's Lupin was fantastic. It's got Rebecca being awesome, the return of Nix in an awesome way, and some incredible animation in the second half.
