By the time they announce a SB2, it will probably end up releasing nearly 2 years after the original. Hopefully that means a big update. As far as I know, no specific rumors yet. Hopefully sooner than later!

I have a Surface Book dGPU model. I am not a fan. It's not at all svelte. It's pretty slick but I am just not a Windows guy. I'd trade it for an updated MacBook when those get updated.

In the meantime, are there any good Twitter apps?

There's the official one, it's not terrible but there's a strange bug where it keeps repeating posts in your timeline.

I really like Tweetium as well, though my usage of Twitter is pretty basic.

If you need something more advanced there's always the Tweet Deck desktop application, but it's not in the Windows Store.

The only thing I don't like about my SB is the placement of the headphone jack. I really wish it were down toward the bottom edge of the screen when mounted to the keyboard.

Hey all. Sorry to bump this thread but I don't have thread making pivleges yet.

I'm thinking about purchasing a Microsoft Refurbished Surfacebook. The deals online are pretty good (128 gb, i5 version for $1,100 including tax).

Is there anything I should know about MS's refurbished laptops or the 128 gb i5 version of Surfacebook in general before I cough up the money?

MS refurbished is fantastic quality.

Thinking of selling my i7, 512GB, 16GRam, dGPU SurfaceBook (basically mint condition - never left my home office area and will provide pics/battery report). for about $1800. I spent $2400 at Launch.

I want the performance base option. It's the best laptop I've ever owned and love it - I just want extra graphical power for some occasional gaming.

Let me know.

In Japan the (current) 512 GB Intel i7 surface book is $3500 and the 1TB is $4100. Yikes. I want one, but I currently have 700/1000 GB used in my current laptop. How are you supposed to deal with 512? Heavy reliance on externals in a laptop that only has 2 USB ports?

Damn that's a fantastic price. Is there any MS event coming up where they are expected to reveal a Surface Book 2? Any idea how much a base model might cost?
Yeah there's a hardware event at may 23rd and it seems hardware focused. A SP5 is all but confirmed and we should see the sb2 as well.

Ever since getting my Surface Book, I don't give two shits about the Pro line.

I only care about the book line and the studio line. Pro line seems like garbage compared to book now. I've been spoiled.

I would laugh so hard if SB2 was introduced now that Microsoft Finland has _just_ started selling the original.

Crosspost from GAF BST:

Last time I'll try to sell my Microsoft Surface Book. I don't want to list this thing on eBay. Intel i5, 256GB, 8GB RAM, and dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GPU. No box but it'll come with a black Surface pen and different pen tips, power brick, and a miniDP to HDMI out port. It's dinged up with dimples and dents pretty good so that's why I'm listing it for $1000 shipped.

I want to pick up a MacBook and can't with this Windows OS junk sitting around. If it ran MacOS, I'd keep it.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
apparently there are rumors about quad core U series cpus... that would be godly.

As to 1050, seems like too hot for this kind of laptop... maybe nvidia is coming out with something new soon.

The 1050 runs cooler than the 965M in the performance base it has now; just fyi.

Yeah, I mean, the 1050 Ti is about the TDP of the 965M, with the performance of the GTX 970M (basically desktop GTX 960).

Could do a 1050 stock and a Ti performance base.

Also could anyone who has owned the original Surfacebook model tell me how the battery life is fairing?
I've had my Surface Book for 16+ months and the battery life is basically the same as it was when I got it. Not sure exactly what it is as I rarely use it for the full battery away from the dock (which charges it), but it has been good for me.

I have the 256 GB i5 model, and I've only used ~125 GB on the internal drive. All of my photos/music/videos are stored on my NAS or in the cloud so drive space isn't much of an issue for me.

It's funny that my brother has been using his MBP as a Windows exclusive machine for years, so he finally got a Surface Book (with Performance Base) to replace it.

Bad_Boy

time to take my meds
Ran into some money, been wanting this laptop for a while. 2,500 is still a hard pill to swallow.

Does anyone know any good prices for the i7, 512gb performance base model? Maybe a military discount?

I managed to sell mine, same spec for £1500. If you have warranty, send it in and sell the return if you have display issues.

Otherwise, we are so close to th new one I would say this is bad timing.

eBay, this was what my listing looked like: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272594348400?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1561.l2649

The dude was super nice and I spoke with him frequently. I didn't include my Surface Pen because it was scrappy so I bought a new one and sent it his way.

Charger was also new, since mine literally caught on fire and broke just before I went for a refurb on warranty, lmao

(edit: that address doesn't even exist anymore so it's okay, no need to let me know it shows up)

The price is a little insane. The 15” model at 16 GB of memory/512 GB SSD is more expensive than a similarly equipped MacBook Pro

Well, it does pack more than a Macbook Pro (The gpu and the touchscreen), but there's definitely a brand/premium value added to the price of the new Surface line all around.
