The Amazing Test: Bricked! [Tested.com Star Wars Lego Build Video Series]

I'm building this at home, and plan to attack Will and Norm's builds with it.

I still prefer the first Lego X-Wing. I don't know why it got that white with the second release. I thought X-Wing were grey.

You can only use that against Will's.

For Norm's, you should buy an A Wing, and then throw it at his.
Is there a new version of the A-Wing? I have very awesome memories with the first release.

Edit.: Are the rules for Bricked readable online?

I'm so jealous. This should be a fun watch.

One of my friends bought the OG Star Destroyer in college and a bunch of us spent a weekend helping him put it together -- there was a lot more to it than I expected, but it was a blast. The SSD looks like a whole new level though. The Death Star looks like it could be a pretty interesting build too... it'll be cool to see how these come together.

Watching the change from Norm at the beginning of that hour to the end was hilarious. I can't wait to see what happens when one of them can't find a piece.

We really should get some kind of gambling stick going.

Let's break it down.

Norm:
+ Younger, more stamina.
+ Smaller, nimbler girly fingers.
+- Smaller Lego set in terms of pieces required to build it. More difficult Lego set.
- Less 'experienced' in life. Grasshopper.
- Less tolerance? Won't hold out for the long haul?

Will:
+ Older dude. More chill.
+ More organized... and logical?
+- Easier difficulty Lego set. More pieces.
+ Won that PC speed building thing before. And did it blindfolded on HH. Hands of god.
+ Revenge for that hilarious spaghetti tower thing.
- Old Cranky Will. Body ain't like it used to be.

Anythings I'm missing and/or need to change? About all I can think up just from watching the sorting eps.

The plural of Lego is Lego

You weird English speaking guys are the only ones who ever did that. It's Lego.

I love how douchey grown adults get over kids toys. Between the name nazis and the freakout certain people had over the fact I mentioned I bought a Maker Bloks Porsche in the legos thread it's like there's a whole new level of hyper-pretentious, uptight nerddom I'm discovering. Hipsters within hipsters. How about not letting your overwhelming need to correct people suck the fun out of building stuff with plastic blocks?

I think that's a pretty cool idea for a video series.

But different models is a bit strange if they intend to have this as a competition (I'm sure this has been pointed out a million times before. :p).

They should have opened all the bags and dumped them into a bin, mixed it about, then started the clock. That's how you LEGO!
That's the only way to build with legos. When I was a kid we had a huge plastic tub full of legos and we would just build whatever we wanted. Now and then we would get a kit for our birthdays/christmas, but 99% of my lego building was just building random things with pieces from the tub. Mostly kickass forts, castles or cities.

Also my money is on Will winning. Norm seems impatient and easily agitated.

You would bet against the wily grasshopper?

I expect chance to screw over one of them big time, either missing a key piece or putting something together wrong and having to take it apart again. I hope this happens to them both.

xxracerxx

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
WHY WOULD THEY MIX UP THE BAGS

btw, Lego is not German, it's Danish.

edit: no seriously why
Why wouldn't you want to mix the bags? I mean it just seems pointless and easier to go bag to bag knowing which pieces are there.

I for one am happy they mixed them all.

Chuck

Still without luck
I'm telling you guys, here's what they should have done;

Take the other competitor's organized Lego pieces

0R4Anm.jpg

dump them into one of these

and end up with this.

I'm sure it would have made it infinitely more difficult, but it would have made it much funnier to watch. :p

Opening all the bags is incredibly stupid. They're already sorted, and presumably the instructions assume you didn't feel the need to resort them.

But that's exactly the point, they _wanted_ to do the "hardcore" old school Lego thing. They said so repeatedly. I would probably do the same, finding the correct pieces in a hill of Lego bricks is one of the things that made Lego fun for me when I was a kid.

Man, they're so fucked for mixing the pieces, haha.

I'm glad the camera got better as the video went on. At first whoever was controlling it did an awful job.

Good start.

when you were little, it was probably a brightly coloured pile of a couple hundred bricks, so sorting through looking for a big red brick wasn't too bad.

Sorting through 7000 mostly grey bricks, for a grey 1x1 round stud, will not be fun

It'll be fun for us watching. :)

I have the Falcon.. sitting in its box, waiting for the day I'll finally get to build it. I forget most of the time that I even have it. Is it crazy to wait until I can build a display case for it before actually building it?

Nope. I wanted to wait until I had the right place for a display case worthy of it before I'd buy it.

Shan't be making that mistake again.

norm will win. the layout might be more technical but more of his pieces are large and flat making finding them easier.

Will had a strong start but slowed, Norm had a nightmare but recovered.

I think Norm arsed up by using a black piece instead of a dark grey tho (I did that this weekend on something I built).

And Will, MY GOD MAN! builds a load of pieces then dumps them back into the parks pile, ArG!!

So how long until a commenter has a full on meltdown? Like gets legitimately angry at how Norm and Will are building their lego sets?

I'm tempted to subscribe for these build videos but I've never even been on this site before. Guess I'll browse around and see if there's anything else I'd be interested in.

Edit: Oh dur, it's Whiskey Media. I browse Giant Bomb and Comic Vine sometimes so I guess it will be worth it.

are shenanigans allowed/encouraged? All it'd take is a few pieces move/misplaced and you'd be really out of whack pretty quickly.

After the Chrono ER, I wouldn't think it should be very long before we stop arguing how to pronounce things and start going after Will and Norm for their build techniques.

Future examples:

GRRRR... YOUR NOT PUSHING THE PLATES TOGETHER HARD ENOUGH!!!!

THEIR CASUAL ATTITUDE IS AN INSULT TO TRUE LEGO BUILDERS - THEY SHOULD JUST STOP!!!!1!11!1

YOU MISSED A BRICK - WHAT AN IDIOT!!!!11111!@@@!

I am waiting for the first moment when one of them realizes they fucked something up and have to unbuild a bunch of shit to correct it.

People who have already built these sets countless times will arrive and critique Will and Norm for taking too long to arrive at the next step, not building efficiently enough, and not remembering that time they connected a 10x5 plate to a 2x4 brick earlier in the instruction manual.

When people point out this is for fun and their first time building the set, they will reply "NO ONE SAID IT HAD TO BE A PERFECT RUN!"

The nightmare begins now, gentlemen.

Ah yes Norm with the first inevitable moment when you become convinced that LEGO fucked up and gave you the wrong piece or left a piece out. Which never is the case.

They said they'd be doing 30 min chunks.

Also, I have 500mb left on my bandwidth allowance this month and it's 800mb :( I want it to reach midnight already!

You have to be a premium member to watch!? Fuck.

edit: meh, it's only $5 for a month, a can squeeze that.

edit2: whoops, nevermind, accidentally had the full year box checked. Goddammit. This better be worth it.
