So NONE of the iTunes Store content is 1080p in Canada. And apparently the 1080p content that does exist in the US is of exceptionally low bitrate. Epic fail, Apple. Epic fail.

OK, after playing around with a HP Touchpad for some months, I must confess, I got addicted to a tablet.
Though I furiously denied any need for an IPad for at least a year, at the end they got me too: 32 GB 3G black ordered.

These gadgets are are driving me into poverty...

These are getting ready to go out the door folks...

Probably be thrown in a shipping depot til the 16th anyway, but a good sign.

I'm holding out for a Toblino 3 case for the ipad 3.

The Toblino 2 case for the ipad 2 was a thing of beauty. Really high quality, offered a ton a viewing angles, and protected both sides of the ipad2. I just hope the case is released before my ipad 3 arrives.

Thanks, those look great. I'll keep my eye out for the new cover release. It's nice they work as a smart cover as well.

There is one thing that would get me to buy the Apple TV and various other devices like it and that is give it an antenna so I can get regular TV channels. I am sure there are plenty of people like me who have TV's that aren't 'smart' and so our only option for Netflix etc is through a separate box. So why not bring TV to the smart box rather than bringing a smart box to the TV? I know boxee launched a live tv dongle recently but why aren't there more companies doing this? It makes perfect sense to me.

did the other iOS product launches have such a hassle-free pre-order from the website offer?

I don't think anyone gets too excited over the iPod touch and the iPhone is overwhelmingly sold through/in partnership with carriers.

We're just going to have to settle with the Galaxy Note 10.1 until some windows 8 tablet comes out with a wacom digitzer.

What is more odd is why anyone thought Apple would release a stylus for iPad. Apple says any touch screen product with a stylus is a instant failure.

Anyone know when this is going on sale in Asia (or China to be specific). I sense another riot here when this gets released.

anyone else notice the badly kerned 'iPad' text and the awkward center/left alignment of the press quotes in yesterdays Timnote? The attention to detail really rested with one man. For shame.

Comic sans was the real shocker to me.

Mine isn't being prepared to ship :( but my smart cover is!

Man, I still remember the iPad 1 launch. I don't go to many day 1 events, but this one was the best. A line at my Apple Store that extended 8 stores down, everyone looked so happy waiting for the iPad...as soon as I got it and started playing with it in the food court I had like 5 people ask me about it.

It was crazy too how for about 2-3 months I'd have random people come up to me on the train, coffee shops, etc and ask about the iPad. So revolutionary.

Reposting my message from the new iPad thread:

Now I'm really tempted by the new iPad. I'd like to replace my HP Touchpad (I read a lot of PDFs and watch videos occasionnally) but I also have an ATI Radeon 4890 GPU that needs replacing (it does play all games fine at 1920x1200, although not with the highest settings). I'm thinking of maybe buying one of the upcoming NVIDIA GPUs but I can't afford both.

Which one would you think I should buy first?

I think with the new screen resolution 16 GB is going to be pretty useless.

I am replacing my 32 GB iPad 1 with a 32 GB third generation iPad.

Reading PDFs for work or school? The high-resolution screen in the new iPad will render PDFs from the likes of JStor and other scans beautifully. I'd hold off on the GPU, especially since those will go down in price over time, but not the iPad.

iOS 5.1 Q: How the hell do you delete an photo-stream photo? It tells me the photo will only be deleted from the phone..so what's the point? How is this different than just deleting it form camera roll? I thought this update will let you completely remove individual photos from the cloud?

That's a good question actually and a similar concern of mine

I am so happy for this screen update. I read a lot of research papers on my iPad 1 but it was still suboptimal. Finally, Its going to be great.

Apple is selling a tablet with an amazing screen, large amount of ram and HD space, fast cpu, camera etc etc for 499.99. Meanwhile Wacom is charging 1,000 for this

23-100-048-02.jpg
which has a horrible screen and a million cables.

and 2,000 for a 21 inch monitor with horrible resolution. God i wish Apple make something that a proffesional artist can use without having to fucking finger paint.

um, what a stupid post. the wacom tablet is pressure sensitive and an artist tool

How about we actually let them release a 1080p product before we declare the content being an "epic fail." Until now there hasn't been any reason for them to deal with 1080p. My guess is they'll have good quality content in place soon.

How good is the voice recognition on the dictation feature? Could I compose an email or message board post talking at a normal rate, or would I need to speak slowly and enunciate each word carefully?

Looks like a quality device (as usual) but I am happy to keep my iPad 2 and hold on until the next revision.

This iPad feels like the 3GS to me, I believe the next revision (iPad 4) will be a major jump forward, incorporating the new retina display with even greater internals (quad core cpu, next gen PowerVR gpu) and iOS 6.

Anyone getting this new iPad will of course be happy, but I am happy with my iPad 2 and will be waiting on the next revision.

I keep seeing on itunes store saying:

A vailablein 720P, 1080P
(Downloading 720P)

Can you only download 720P?
I saw a setting in preferences for "Preferred download" or something, you could choose between 720p or 1080p. Try changing that if you haven't already.

To those who are accustomed to preordering stuff from Apple, what are the chances we get our iPads delivered a day or two early?

It happens, but it's not anything I'd expect on a wide-scale basis. We'll invariably see stories of people getting their iPads early and we'll all be super jealous, but for the most part (99.999% of customers who pre-ordered in time) we'll get them on the day.

No, it's perfectly legitimate point. Wacom has had a monopoly on such devices for years, and they charge far too much for their products because they have absolutely no competition.

Apple could have made the iPad a more direct competitor to certain Wacom products, but their aversion to styluses is making it a slow process. But as the iPad becomes more and more capable, with more support from the likes of Autodesk, it inevitably becomes a Wacom competitor whether Apple want it to happen or not.

The 'new iPad' has a much more artist/designer-friendly screen than any 'pro' Wacom product, and is at least half the price. This is a big deal. Pressure sensitive styluses are already in development... Wacom should be very concerned.

I am hoping Timbuk2 comes out with a new set of slip cases for the new iPad. I use a smart cover on mine generally and it would be nice to have a case to slip the iPad into for travel.

Anyone still having Processing items when they check their order status?

The Smart Cover I ordered is "Preparing for Ship" and the iPad itself is still marked as processing. My order got in very very early once the store opened up finally so I'm not too worried about it...yet!

Alright, thanks for the info. Seeing as my iPad and smart cover are both "Preparing to be Shipped" I thought maybe they'd send them out by the end of the week and I could see mine on Tuesday or Wednesday.

bamboo or intous.

the cintique is the high end model and there's a reason for the premium.

and the tablet is not pressue sensitive

No, but there are styli that are being created that are.

What? No. Why would you even think this? My Cintiq has something like 2000 level of pressure sensitivty. There's no way I could do anything close to the same thing on an iPad without a fine tipped styling with an equal level of pressure sensitivity. In addition drawing on glass kind of sucks.
