How much will optimizing the game help the performance, realistically speaking, do you guys think?

I would say A LOT. It would also help people who need to play with lower graphical settings as changing them doesn't help at the moment (except to make the game look worse)

/Local is pretty much the same thing, the chat really only spreads as far as the region you're in.

Nah, the common /say just goes a few feet, mostly with an npc-like speech bubble. It's great for roleplaying issues and doesn't go over the whole /local area.

Yeah, I think it would be nice if we had that. Seeing everyone's conversations at all times got a little annoying. The zones are simply too big and too full of people for it to stay the way it is now.

And yes to turning off the chat chirp. I thought it was just some repetitive ambient bird sound until someone in GChat pointed it out. Then I could not unhear it.

They definitely have some elven overtones, but to call them "Night Elf"-esque is somewhat of a disservice. Kristen Perry did a great job with their redesign;

Retro laying out the knowledge. Thanks for the Sylvari pic. That clarifies about them, they're looking pretty cool.

Also, the lack of a 'say' confused me to, seems like an easy addition for folks that want to rp and just have a say chat to chitchat to friends in the immediate area. Local I assumed would be akin to a general area chat.

When I mentioned the chat beep sound it seemed like I baffled so many people in guild chat, it was hilarious how many people didn't notice it until I pointed it out. lol

I would like to see them add a crosshair option, similar to Tera I guess and other third person games.

The added precision plus not having to constantly hold down M2 to look around would be great.

I could rebind Mouse2 to something else if they added it in.

It don't know how hard it would be to implement, but there really wouldn't be many functional changes at all. The only real difference would be setting your current target as what's under the crosshairs, which is how Star Trek Online does it.

I had no clue until then. Then i couldn't unhear it. So I turned the ui sound down in the options but that also got rid of the achievement sound which I liked. So an option for just chat is definitely needed.

I got lost in the entire chat of GAF guild. Do we want to split the base between the PvP base versus the PvE folks?

It's just nearly impossible to really do anything with anyone due to like 50 voices speaking at the same time.

I wish alliance chat was back or something.

The main reason I didn't bother joining the GAF guild. I will gladly form up/join a PvP/WvW squad on release.

I mean eventually people will do dungeons and just form up for whatever. Since I know some other GAF folks tend to work all day and don't have much time to play, I often want to consider scheduling at time for doing these dungeons.

I've been thinking about the guild splitting into timezones, but that may be a bad idea.

NeoGAF EST, CST, MST, PST, so folks can be split a bit better. Again I'm not sure how this would function and it seems like a terrible idea.

If you're not in the guild, you don't get benefits and splitting people up would leave other timezones or even other groups in general out of benefits that the less active group of the two or three or four would not get.

For me it would make a big difference just because of a few things;

1. Hard to use AOE abilities because you don't know where your mouse is while using mouse look, this also disables your ability to turn effectively (have to use A or D while aiming).

2. Easier to target enemies in groups, currently you have to either TAB, click, or hope that the right mob is in the center (many times I end up hitting the wrong enemy this way). With a crosshair you could aim at exactly who you want to shoot. Perhaps add an option to turn on enemy highlighting when you place an enemy under your crosshair.

3. Right hand won't hurt anymore from constantly holding down mouse2. :p

4. Can rebind Mouse1 and Mouse2 for different things like abilities since you don't need them to target things or look around anymore.

5. More actiony, I think this would work very well with Guild Wars 2's highly mobile combat, as opposed to say something less so like Guild Wars 1.

I agree. This is why I suggested that my idea was horrible already. I wish the mumble server had a few separate rooms where I could talk to others in peace and not be interrupted by someone else talking.

AOE is the only one of those that might be a problem, since those skills are ground targeted rather than being projectiles that travel in a straight line.

Yeah, I didn't even get to try PVP or WvW! So mad ... but that's OK, probably would have soured me on the whole experience playing as a melee. Can't wait for more though!

I would say that is impressive if I had any idea what was going on lol

Honestly man I ran a Sword/Shield & Hammer for 8 hours in WvW and didn't have any issues. Having that S/Shield combo saved my ass more times than I can count in only one day of playing. Yeah I switched up to range when on top of a tower, but that's when we were outnumbered 6:1 and it's not like we could take them on toe to toe.

Well I am just talking from my own personal experiences. I think my issues with the controls would be solved with this.

If they decide to add it in I will be very happy. :p

Also remember most of the chaos was simply caused by it being the first beta weekend, everyone was logged on simply as much as possible. It'll be much easier to handle once it launches and things calm down eventually.

Plus it would be nice if more people got on Mumble and joined in the chat, was fun hearing folks and playing together, and exactly what I missed about mmos.

Cooking is considered our advanced craft. It will cost you more money, karma, and time traveling the world than any other crafting discipline.

Pro Tip: Every cooking recipe in Guild Wars 2 is a real recipe for real food in real life (or a basic approximation). If you think you are close to figuring out one of the combinations, google a recipe for the food you suspect it might be, and odds are, you can find a bunch of recipes for things like that to try out.

Damn...

Yeah, if anyone didn't see the different types of bags here they are:

If possible, weapons and armor will fill this bag before other empty spaces.

Items in this box will never appear in a sell-to-vendor list and will not move when inventory is sorted.

If possible, crafting material will fill this bag before other empty spaces.

If possible, junk items will fill this bag before other empty spaces.

The Cryptarch's Bane
Never forgot. Watching that mortar destroy that trebuchet instantly was the highlight of my
beta experience.

I hope to one day encounter Big Face again too, casually sitting on top of a keep waiting around for something to be built.

Hmmm. Except for the crosshair physically showing up on screen, this is more or less how combat works for me with a gamepad, unless you "promote" a target to primary by tabbing or clicking onto it. Since there is no crosshair it's just whoever is in the path of your skill which is essentially the center of your screen/window. There's an item in the options you need to definitely not have checked (promote skill targets to full targets). You could tape a crosshair to your monitor :p

In all seriousness though, I don't see why you couldn't use my AutoHotKey script to mimic the right mouse button being held down by pressing F7 (or something else you specify), yet continue to play with a mouse and keyboard... so that you basically had true mouselook (wouldn't hurt your hand anymore). You wouldn't be able to rebind the right-click key to something else in-game without some tweaking though. Playing like this gets you much closer to "crosshair" combat, for sure. You'd right-click to get your cursor back to aim AOE... hmm, maybe having right click actually be the toggle key would be ideal for you.

I don't know if that's making sense but if yoiu're interested I'm happy to clarify and/or give you the script.

Im actually seriously considering getting us our own mumble server so we can have different rooms and it be easily manageable. Let me look up some prices and i'll work it out.

That Ele PvP is really good, but the guy is downright retarded for ignoring his downed enemies.

This is the problem I have with downed state being.in PvP I said it from the second it was seen. Pretty much all players with an esport mind set(which are the players theyve said they want) will see it as pointless and too big of a risk and will always ignore it unless they have a clear enough amount of time to do with no enemies around. Notice he was also just throwing out aoe on top of them as well so they couldnt get the heal off. I promise you we will see this a lot.

I really liked the tradepost format... when it worked.

Listing how many items of each were being sold, which were most popular, etc was really neat. Being able to put specific bids as a buyer was neat too.

I can help defray the cost, I personally like to talk to smaller groups and figure out what everyone's best interest is.

Yeah, it worked more often than not for me.

I wouldn't say that. I think he finished all 1v1 encounters, just didn't show it in the video. The majority were 2+ in which he focused on the adds once 1 was downed. Seems to have fared rather well.

My glimmer of hope! Can't wait for the next BWE damnit!

What I noticed with that build is that you really can't do that. When you stop, you die. He makes that build look much more durable than it actually is because he moves so well. Believe me, it's soft as hell. The only proper defense there is the occasional protection that activating signets apply. But even that lasts just like 2 seconds at a time so it doesn't help that much in the end.

Now that I think about it, if I play that build again I will probably switch Arcane Blast with Arcane Shield. Helps when ressing or finishing people.

Kinda wish they didn't even include junk.. was sad when i realized there were grey items.

They COULD roll what would be junk items into coin drops, but not all mobs drop coin and they've already put all the work into making all the items so it's highly unlikely to change now.
