LAS VEGAS -- Guess who's crashing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's election night party hotel.

The Tea Party Express has booked space for a "Victory Watch Party" tonight at the Aria Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip--the same hotel as Reid's event. They even plan to park the Tea Party Express bus out front.

In a statement, the Reid campaign said: "We're very pleased they've chosen to spend their money at a project Sen. Reid saved." The Aria is part of a big downtown development that Reid helped save from bankruptcy.

I predict some fireworks, either way. :lol

Funded with tax payer money, I assume. Oh, delicious irony.
What do they plan on doing?

If he loses, they'll look like they're rubbing it in his face, and come off as the jerk party

If he wins, they'll just awkwardly be there with nothing to do but complain about the guy who just fairly won

There's little to gain from them doing it, but that seems to always be the Tea Party way

What is it with wealthy women GOP campaigns this cycle? Whitman, Fiorina and McMahon put in over a quarter billion total. And they're all going to lose!

05:17 PM SPINNING IT: Nancy Pelosi and Chris Van Hollen are stating flat out that Democrats will hold onto the House. "We're on pace to maintain the majority," Pelosi just told reporters. "Millions of Americans are proving the Washington pundits wrong," Van Hollen said.

The trifecta of Whitman, Fiorina, and McMahon's personal spending on their campaigns is hilarious. Quarter billion.

Its when people who spend 50-125 million of their own money STILL lose that offers me hope for this country.

I think that's pretty much what they have to say. If they said "ZOMG WE'RE ALLLLL GONNA DIE NOOOOOOO RUN TO CANADA!!!!" it'd probably depress turnout and further exacerbate their losses. can't blame them for striking a positive note even though I don't think it's reality.

Well she can't say they'll lose, that will just prevent Democrats from going to the polls. Obviously nobody believes her, but you have to try to motivate the base somehow.

I'm really curious wtf they spent that money on. Where in the world do you spend $140mil for any election? Sure, I can see a presidential election topping that amount easily, but senate or governor?!

The thing is if they had just donated that money tot he US government they would have helped reduce the deficit more than anything they would actually do if elected.

Ask the CA people how many Whitman ads they are seeing everyday.

Sure he did. Money is always made in a vacuum. Its not like there are employees who contribute to owners making a profit. Its not like the parcel contribute to shipping the product to retailers where they are bought with the money of individuals that the owner will never meet. Its not like natural resources are being used to create the product that is being sold and bought to make the owner a profit. Its not like the roads that are used for the delivery trucks to drive on are paved with the funds that come from the government. Owners make money totally independent of society.

it's the new-age conservative welfare system. most of the 'consultants' on brown's campaigns have made enough money for a lifetime.

There's a pretty convincing argument that taxes on money are essentially the cost you pay to have the convenience of money available for trading and the regulations that protect you during those transactions.

If the cost of having "money" be so effortless to use is to help maintain society around us then so be it. You may disagree that all that is necessary, but I think most people are willing to play it safe on that one rather than risk the problems and the societal setbacks that a sudden removal of our welfare would create.

I believe Whitman said she spent so much so she isn't indebted to "special interests" which is rather ironic coming from a conservative former eBay CEO running on the Republican ticket.

Funny thing is, it was spending all that money on ads that killed all of them. Too many ads too soon burned everyone out on them.

Which is why Jerry Brown was smart. He was never going to compete with her financially so he let her rope-a-dope (fitting description for Meg) herself and then spent his cash box the last month or so before the election. She's an idiot politically.

I would really like to be a fly on the wall when one of Whitman's (well-paid) consultants tells her that if she'd spent less of her own money, she might have won.

First poll voter analysis from AP

Voters around the country are intensely worried about the economy and dissatisfied with the way the federal government is working.

According to an Associated Press analysis of preliminary exit poll results and pre-election polls, voters say the economy eclipses any other issue as their top concern. Nearly all voters are worried about the future direction of the economy, and about 4 in 10 say they are worse off financially than they were two years ago.

Voters are expressing dissatisfaction with President Barack Obama and the Congress, and they don't have a favorable view of either the Democratic or Republican parties.

The preliminary results are based on Election Day and pre-election interviews with more than 9,000 voters.

Oh, totally. I remember a post on Kos that went a little further into an early matchuppoll b/w Brown and Whitman, and basically detailed how nearly impossible a Whitman win would be, as a result of her negative favorables and the percentage of those willing to change their minds.

Which is one reason he is one of my least favorite posters here. There are many people that I disagree with her but at least they don't talk down to others like they were five years old. I don't know if he realizes it or its just the way he communicates but he consistently comes off as a patronizing, pompous, self-indulging and proud asshole.

Bad news for Dems, good news for Republicans.

On the other hand, a Republican controlled Congress will have about five minutes to turn around the economy before the wind shifts.

Haven't been following politics too closely since 08, but what are the chances that Reid and Pelosi will hang on to their seats?

She probably had a bigger stimulus impact on the state's advertising consultant and media outlet industries than anything she would have dreamed of doing as Governor.

By the way, this turn out is projected to be 90 million voters. That means 2010 midterms elections will surpass 2006 midterms.

Pelosi is safe, but will lose her speaker position.

Reid is 50/50. Probably going to come down to a recount.

Nope. You're not. He has an air of condescension whenever he speaks, and tries to integrate big, technical words in his responses to come across as a legit, middle-of-the-road type. Then he says fucked up shit like "waterboarding is torture-lite" and you realize it was all a charade.

Pelosi isn't going anywhere any time soon (unless she retires) but no way she holds on to her Speaker title after today. Many folks think Reid is done after tonight.

Pelosi will hang on to her seat, it just won't be as speaker. Reid? Toss up. At best.

NOPE! She spent most of her non ad-buy money with east coast consulting firms!
