I haven't been able to bring myself to watch the BBC or any other domestic news since the UK General Election since they're all crap, but they're usually pretty good at documenting things outside our borders. What are they saying?

Wishing something bad would happen to them is not the same thing as assaulting them. It saddens me how many folks here and elsewhere are willing to lower their standards to satiate some stupid blood lust. The principles we on the left clung to (rightfully) a week ago are suddenly gone for so many ppl. It's a pathetic way to respond to what happened imho.
The appropriate response should be to enforce hate speech laws to the letter and throw the book at ppl who engage in it. Even if that hate speech is anti-Nazi, btw. Threatening ppl due to their beliefs is not ok just because you really, REALLY hate the people you target and believe they are subhuman.
White supremacy is not a nation with soldiers. It is an idea and you can't eradicate ideas with violence. You have to work to marginalize those ideas within society. Push for tougher hate speech laws and push for their strict enforcement.
Yeah, I was hoping the one time people would come together was to condemn a Nazi that literally killed someone and hurt others.

As I said, not everyone has the luxury of paying attention to politics so lots of folks in the ignorant middle just don't recognize ppl like Spencer or Duke by their face. They might just see them peddling some propaganda and politicking and not write them off without that background knowledge. Happens constantly on social media, where ppl who aren't racists will post some racist meme from some outright racist nutjob online without even knowing it. All they know is it seems to make sense, since memes often don't include context for anything or outright make shit up to trick exactly these folks in the middle.
Almost nobody wants to be a Nazi. We won that battle socially already. But ppl will still fall for Nazi or racist propaganda without realizing it is sourced to Neo Nazis, the KKK, etc. We need to recognize this and respond intelligently instead of seeking to alienate the ppl we want on our side.
Listened to some right wing radio this morning, it's the same shit. "Look, we hate Nazis, but they have the right to assemble, and if these Antifa people - who are fascists too because they hate free speech - hadn't been trying to shut down the rally, none of this would have happened! Tomorrow we're gonna have Milo on the show to discuss."

He's blowing off steam (went too far with "line em up against a wall") but his points are valid. As a communist, considering the conditions on the ground in this country, I know there is no path to victory going alone. We'd be crushed. For now we have to work within and/or alongside the existing parties because the country is overwhelmingly liberal in the classical sense and socialism is only now becoming a thing on people's radar.
But I do hope for the day when the political divide in this country becomes socialists and liberals, not liberals and fascists.
DSA in general is way more moderate than this dude by the way.
