One thing I did notice, but only on the 1st video (the Maserati one), was some white dots, that I thought it was aliasing problems:

However, on the other two videos everything was much cleaner (specially that last one). Is that really some aliasing problems, or is something about the video compression?

Because anything other then this seems awesome to me! Neither the power cables do really bothered me as it seems to have bothered others.

Oh my...

There's like no pop-in anywhere. And that lighting... I'm shocked.

This looks so much better than I thought it would. I just hope there's a substantial amount of content in it because I'm surely buying it now.

Everything looks perfect.

I'm only thinking that it will be quite difficult ( if not impossible ) to have decent online races on a track that narrow.

They are reflection artifacts, it's not jaggies from the edge of a polygon, it's because there's only a few pixels which have just the right surface normal to reflect a bright light in the scene, same with the white dots along the car to the left. I'm not sure if there's anything to solve this without supersampling from very high resolution.

Lol, watched this in class. Dudes next to me were like "oh shit, duuuuuude! What game is that!?" and "wait that's a GAME?"

The windshield smudge was the detail that really got me.

The lighting is fantastic. I'm hyped and I don't even like (realistic) racing games, the last one I bought was V8 on the PS2 (a pack in)

I think that's the same as what I was saying about the headlights illuminating the wires across the road - but in that example it's the headlights of the car behind causing the edges to be illuminated in a weird way.

I see! It seems more difficult to solve than if it was aliasing.
Thats ok, I can live with that! =P

Then I have to say that I dont see much problem on their AA at all, that was the only thing I surely noticed. That power cables aliasing are not big deal! The cars and the rest of the track doesnt have much of a aliasing problem as some people are making out.

As I said yeasterday it looks really stunning, in this forest video the next gen lighting system with global illumination really makes a difference.

Yes! So lemme get this straight .. that's 1080p 60FPS goodness and still some room left for real-time water physics in the background ..

Awesome!

30fps. And the sprinklers are probably a very simple set of objects. If their attention to detail is spot on then you should see rainbows in them when you're driving away from the sun, we'll see, it's a pretty simple effect compared to the rest of what they're doing.

And they still have what, 5 months of straight polishing to go?
Man, I still remember being extremely disappointed by the gameplay vids they put out around the game's initial reveal. The MotorStorm games were among the best looking racers on PS3, so I was surprised with how DriveClub looked. It looked dull as shit and I seriously wondered why they couldn't just make it 60fps with those shitty graphics.

But now? Evo's gone insane.

There's some weird tearing going on at the very top of the screen, the entire video.

edit: you can see it in the gif below

And the video has compression problems. I downloaded it to my PS3 and viewed on a TV. I don't think the video shows the true graphic quality of the game. It gives you an idea though.

Well i've looked closely and it looks like Evolution are instead fading in the trees (not checked the other objects), but like l say you need to look closely and at such speed you're not going to notice it unless you're looking for it.

It's much better than objects just popping in.

some games force screen tearing into the very top and bottom of the image so you don't notice it (usually hidden by the TV's plastic surround)

Racing games are terrible to encode in video. I'd really like an insanely high bitrate version.

That said, while Driveclub looks amazing in motion, I don't think it holds up very well in screenshots.

Except that motorstorm never had rubber-branding in the usual sense. The AI merely drove according to set lap times and would receive a boost if they fell too far behind the time - not the player

didn't it also have a system where the AI cars would only screw up if they where on-screen. otherwise they'd never crash.

I think the top 8 rows of pixels are copied from the previous frame. You can see the difference very clearly between left- and right turns, when you look at the powerlines.

Conclusion: Driveclub is 1072p. Time for a meltdown.

Damn October can't come soon enough! Here's hoping it plays well, having played motorstorm I know these guys can make fun racing games.

It could be due to the video capturing device?

Okay seriously guys...This footage is ridiculous. The previous footage we got from IGN didn't impress me. I mean it REALLY didn't impress me, but this footage...Wow.

The environments are what really make this game in my opinion. The vegetation is incredible and the amount of detail they have put in the game is mind blowing. I now understand why this doesn't run at 60 FPS. Most racers just focus on the cars and that's fine and all, but DriveClub takes it a step further by making the environment feel as real as possible.

Damn I sound like a PR guy...Really hyped for this now. Might I add that my favourite racing games of last gen were 30 FPS...

Like some have said, could be part of the video compression, but also, on my tv, you don't see it.

Sense of speed is definitely there and the handling of the cars looks similar to PGR. Graphics, while good, aren't good enough. Processing wasted in generating 3D backgrounds and other unnecessary stuff. They made the wrong decision as far as I'm concerned.

New video is more impressive...

I really love they have the "f355 challenge close to the windshield view" I can't stand the super wide cockpit view with a tiny windshield.
