Xenoblade Chronicles X: April 10th Doll Presentation [up: video with subtitles]

I don't remember if this game is also produced by him, but the producer Hitoshi Yamagami was featured in a video about Bayonetta 2 on IGN, and he is in charge of making content that is "unusual to Nintendo." So in the long term, another benefit is that people may see there's more to Nintendo's output than what they expect.

Yamagami is the producer on most Japan-based titles from Nintendo's partners and subsidiaries. So yes, he is involved in X, too (he was the one who let Takahashi delay the original Xenoblade so they could add in more awesomeness).

I have a feeling this is going to replace the Zelda release date this year, unless they surprise us with something at E3.

Possible. While it obviously would never have the same reach as a Zelda, maybe they decided to take up the opportunity given Zelda's now more flexible release window and shuffle some marketing funds into that game instead. To me personally it would make sense to tell people "Hey, you were excited about big open Zelda, well, how about this in the meantime?!"

People will be disappointed with Zelda then. Talk about setting high expectations.

Jrpgs are niche. If only they had further modified the game system to pure action mechanics, this could have worked.

Oh man just saw it. Hype hype hype!!! The rap and vocal song playing during online segment was really dope.

Altho I hate that I have to grind for currency to choose the Doll model I want.

Question? Can walk the world in four player online mode or just skips to quests? Also how do you join a 32 player squad??

Why eat an appetizer after the full course meal?

I think this is possible too, but it'd be a shame if it could be ready earlier in the year and delayed just for marketing and to fill the void created by Zelda.

People point out that we haven't seen any english trailers, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. We know treehouse has been working on this for a long time. I don't think a summer release would be unrealistic.

As far I understood : the 4 players mode is for missions named Squad. So I don't think so you will be able to comple story missions in co-op.

Getting your hopes up, bro. I think September is the very earliest we will see the game. (Which is technically summer but probably not what you meant)

I know we're supposed to be focused on the mechs but did anyone else see that move Lyn did were she tore a hole in the fabric of reality.

I can't get over how much this game is for me.

- giant mechs
- PSO-like online coop mode
- Gorgeous open world that isn't tedious to traverse

2015 pls Nintendo

Looks amazing, but I am still confused if this has any type of multiplayer? I would love to play with a buddy and just explore this entire world?

It does. The video explained how it will work.

There's a "32 player mode" There are squad missions where there's a set number of items to find and enemies to kill, each player goes own their own to kill the targets, but every time someone of the players takes down one of the targets it progresses the quest for every one else.

It seems you can also "download" other player's avatars so they can behave as AI in your team, although I don't think that's possible for story mode.

There's also 4 player co-op quests where you directly interact with your teammates.

Haven't read anything about the Dolls in months, so totally just jumping in here, but what kind of limitations are on the Dolls? Can they fly indefinitely, or will I have to stop for gas or something?

Not hyped for this game yet. A big part of the first game's appeal was its characters. The current cast of X doesn't seem particularly charming.

They require fuel to do pretty much anything I think (flying/fighting anyways). It regens slowly when you aren't using the mech or you can buy fuel at a shop. I wish it regened faster on its own though.

Yeah, that's what I suspected. Not sure I can fully enjoying playing in these Dolls if I know the gas gauge is constantly moving toward empty.

Oh damn that sounds amazing!! Do you level up the same character? Sort of like diablo where you can play storymode and then jump into multiplayer with the same build?

I guess if we didn't have to worry about fuel, we'd never leave the dolls. Maybe there's a late game doll that doesn't require fuel. Knowing how I play games though, I likely won't even use the doll that much because I'll be constantly thinking "but what if I need it for something else coming up, I better save the fuel!" lol

Would not be the firs time. Bayonetta 2 was completely ready to go by E3 last year. EU press had their review codes a full two months before release.

I guess you can buy upgrades for fuel so you will end up at some point with a mech for which you don't have to worry about the fuel.

This game's content and features are so huge, I was also surprised by how deep the doll system is.
Yep, it's going to be a Wii U must have, no doubt about it.

I really should finish up Xenoblade before I play this sequel. Anyone can give me an idea how far I am from beating Xenoblade Wii? I'm just reach the city of the High Entia and Shulk and friends just got arrested and are put in a conference(?) room.

The games are different. So there's no need to rush.

Anyone else get a Wii U for this game? I've had mine about a year now, but this game and Zelda were the reasons to own a Wii U. I'm going to say the game disc is going to stay in my Wii U for months.

There's no evidence there's any sort of JRPG audience on the Wii U

This will be outsold by #FE and neither will do that well

I have no idea what it'll do:
- Xenoblade is a very beloved game amongst the audience who bought it
- New 3DS version of the original expands the audience
- Shulk was in Smash brothers so people are familiar with the series who may not have been
- We don't know what the sales were in Europe/US for this game over the long haul, and it seems like a lot of people pirated the first game as well.
- Since there's been no big new JRPGs yet on PS4/XB1 (unless you count Bloodborne, which I'd say is a different genre), this is probably the best looking game of its type out there right now.
- This game has a lot more hype coming in and the English version will probably be featured at E3 heavily.
- Nintendo fans typically do like JRPGs and Nintendo's series like Fire Emblem, Zelda, Pokemon, Mario & Luigi, etc all have fanbases that should be open to buying this game.

The downside is the Wii U's install base, plus people thinking they might pull support soon for NX. On the other hand, Wii U's sales were pretty good compared to what it's been doing before in February, nearing 100k in the US.

Like I said, maybe the Zelda team saw what Monolith was doing and thought they needed to step up.

Think what happened with the W101 Team vs the Bayo 2 Team.

I also have Windwaker HD, but rarely have played it. Maybe some day.

Another question, what are all the control schemes that are supported? I seriously doubt the Wiimote with classic pro controller. Probably just Gamepad and pro controller?

Disgaea and persona 5 soonish though. Hype.

Ok, i think this makes it official that N is the new JRPG king.

Monolith has been such an awesome purchase for them. I hope it creates a good competitive ambiance in the internal studios cause what monolith pulled off on this hardware relative to how much time its been in development is AMAZING. The graphic engine, although i dont know if it was built entirely by them, the multiplayer, the scale of it all, should become N's new benchmark. Zelda has a lot to live up to now feature wise.

In my limited time with the system I've exclusively used the pro controller. I can't stand the gamepad.
