I'm amazed they managed to make Pensatucky likable

Yeah I'm surprised too, I hate her for 2 season, now I actually like her.

I feel this season is way better than last season. It's lighter and less annoying. Season 2 was a major disappointment and this is an upgrade for me.

Right? Pennsatucky's storyline and her scenes with Boo are the best part of the season.

To be honest, I always thought Pennsatucky was one of the best parts about the entire show.

She was hilarious in season 1. Even in season 2 she was funny.

On Ep. 6 now I think (I forget lol). Still hate
Piper and Alex
, not sure how I feel about
Red and Healy mostly because I like Red and I know Healy is a piece of shit
, tired of Daya, and I like just about everything else.

I don't really know why, but this is still one of my favourite shows. Probably because there are few things out there that are quite as slice of life as this one. Although slice of life is maybe the wrong term. It's just that this show is not obsessed with showing big things.

Just finished episode 11

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of the people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes.

Just finished.
I doubt I'll be sticking around much longer, the subplots are getting really bad and the tension that made S1 and some of S2 seems to be gone. Alex's arc was as close as we got and that ending was a HUGE disappointment. Shame.

Dang this thread is small. Season 2 really destroyed this show huh? I'm liking S3 better but it is starting to feel pointless and just like Prison Break in that it is a concept that should not stretch for so many seasons. And screw Piper, at her best she's just boring.

No kidding. I've always enjoyed watching her but now I actually care about her.

Yup, they've done good with her from season 1 to now. She started getting better last seasonand they did damn good this season. Just finished ep 10 and...

In ep 5, the guy in the background yelling, "Everyone's failing Western Civ!" had me crack up more than anything in the last week -- I don't know what it was, but I just lost it. In fact the whole Job-Test scene prior was pretty great. Season started slower -- but she's starting to kick in to gear now.

Really looking forward to seeing Ruby Rose; I've not known anything she's done prior to this show, but something about that women, god damn she's gorgeous.

What a great season, there's no main villain or tension like the least 2 seasons, but if you like the characters, it's another good season filled with great moments between the women. Piper trying to embrace her inner Vic Mackey during this season has been awesome to watch and Pensatucky's scenes with Boo are sometimes adorable and heartbreaking.

Just finished it. Great season.

Finale/season spoilers:

I really loved the lake scene. The only thing that bugged me about the finale was the Alex cliffhanger

This season was a lot more laid back and....(ugh) slice of life and was all the better for it. I know it's a long time between seasons but this season was like a breather and it was good for it.

5 episodes in and I'm really digging it so far. I already think it's better than season 2. I like the post someone said earlier about this show not knowing whether it was a comedy or a drama. I think season 1 had a nice balance, with season 2 leaning more to the drama side and season 3 leaning more towards the comedy side.

I hate the whole Alex/Piper subplot. I'm not even a Piper hater but it really seems like the producers have no idea what to do with her character anymore. Thank god her role has been reduced though. Also it doesn't really feel like there's even a plot anymore. Like someone else said it's more slice of life now, but I do wish there was a bit more of a central conflict, however i'm still pretty earlier so maybe this'll change.

Really hate the writing for the Sophia and Gloria spat. I just don't understand the logic. Sophia did Gloria a favor by bringing her son but then acted as if she was entitled to it when the arrangement stopped. The whole conflict made no sense.

This is how I felt about it. Last season was heavy and I appreciated a return to some of the lightheartedness from season one. I don't need massive drama to be happy. I suppose I'll say more when the spoiler embargo is over.

I like the slice of life approach for this show. Tbh I thought that was the whole point of it - humanizing the inmates and all that? The drama of season 2 was SUPER hamfisted and dumb imo. Very forced, badly written. I already like this a lot more. Hated S2.

Thread is moving really slowly.. I thought this had a bigger crowd here on GAF.

Anyway, I'm up to episode 4 and really liking it so far, although it's maybe not as good as previous seasons.

I'm only on 7 and it's commitment to crushing sadness over hamfisted plot nonsense has made it clearly the best season yet.

Same here. This is a return to form as far as I'm concerned, and very welcomed.

Watched a few episodes now, so far it's alright I guess. I could do without Piper and Alex though, I find myself reaching for my phone for something to read every time they're on screen. The show would be better without them now imo, there are more interesting characters.

This season would have been MUCH better if they left that shit out of it and replaced with with almost anything else.

Yea this season is pretty boring so far. I was binge watching the last two seasons when they came out, now I'm struggling to get through one episode...

I'm kinda digging this season more than season 2. I really don't like Piper or her storyline that much and like knowing more about the other inmates.

I don't recall them saying that.

EDIT: Yeah, they said she was under arrest for selling a controlled substance. Is there a follow up after the arrest?

Maybe fraud could stick
(charging someone for selling fake drugs though?)
, but endangerment is nonsense. I hope they at least have a follow up episode where she has a shitty lawyer who can't be bothered to get her off. She is completely blameless in what happened.

(Episode 5)
Before they take her out, they tell her mom that she is under arrest for fraud and endangerment. They also mention that it is illegal even if the drugs were fake. But yeah, it was pretty silly

(Episode 9)
The Leanne backstory was pretty unbelievable too -- there was no evidence she ever possessed the drugs, and the amish would never have turned that bag into the police anyway

Yep, it seems like season 2 and 3 to a lesser extent was really all about pruning out the worst story arcs.

A kid is dead and the justice system needs someone to take the fall regardless of where blame should be. It's not like this hasn't actually happened before or that someone was charged disproportionally with their crime for reasons outside the justice system.

(Episode 5)
I don't think the kid is dead. At least he was still alive when she was arrested

Just finished the season and I liked it but like nothing happened
There was nothing that made me want to watch the next episode. No storyline that hooked me

Eh, I was fine with the lack of a single over arcing plot for the season. The episodic stuff mostly worked, though there were lots of missteps everywhere. I tended to like it more than Season 2 overall (just barely) if only because I thought the whole plot line with V overstayed its welcome and ended on a ridiculous slapstick note. It was a well deserved comeuppance, but it felt like a really rushed conclusion.

I find myself really liking Caputo despite myself. He's somehow been elevated above being just a sleezeball to being a sleezeball who's actually trying to do good and right by everyone while being stuck in impossible situations. The fact that the prison is a circus of one disaster after another (Seriously, tabulate the amount of shit that's gone down in the space of, what, less than a year? How many escapes alone have they had? I can't imagine this would be normal or realistic, but I've never been to prison...) just makes me feel bad for him.

I'm going to guess somewhere around 9 months :p

I finally watched the season two finale last night. Having watched the rest of the season a year ago took away some of the impact I think. >_> (I was going to watch the finale with someone last year, it fell through, and I just never got around to it.) Didn't like the pacing of it. With the runtime they could have done much more but it just felt like an overly long episode. Figueroa giving Caputo that blowjob was gross and a real low point. I feel like the show's generally lighter tone undermines how bad some of the people in the show are.

Some of the comments in here are worrying. :\

Episode 4 was extremely good.

My favorite scene in the series remains the one from S1 where Yoga Jones reveals why she's in prison.

general spoilers about the whole season
man I don't get that IGN score, I really don't see how this is a 9/10 TV, I mean there is some fun stuff and I kinda liked that this was basically like that slice of life thingy, but it was still mostly average
I mean I know I'm not exactly the target demographic for this but still, I'd give it a solid 5/10 maybe 6/10 because we got a flaca episode and I love her stuff

The entire three seasons must be less than a year given Daya's pregnancy right?
Which to me is damn crazy because it feels like so much longer
