Actually you know this is going to play out exactly like the 10,000 BC film. My Gosh I wanted to like that movie but alas.

Can I romance hot unga bungas in this game?

The thing about ubi games is that you have to skip every other two years in a row for a given franchise and pick up the weird entries when they come along and you are golden.

Deployable sabretooth tiger for maximum carnage, and I'm in. Killer chocobos, not so much.

But in all seriousness, this game looks really damn cool.

I really like how Ubi has taken on Far Cry as an idea more than a series of games. Excellent, and very unexpected.

As a side note, holy fucking SHIT at the tired and jaded gloomtwits around here these days. Disconnect for fuck's sake, it will do you a world of good.

Wait this doesnt have dinosaurs in it? Soooo close yet soo far what a waste people already told you what they actually want Ubisoft :/

Wasn't there a recent survey from Ubisoft saying something along the lines of 'would you be interested in seeing Dinosaurs in Far Cry'? Or am I just thinking of something else...

Either way, I could totally see Dinos. If they aren't in the main game, it would make a cool DLC expansion. Kind of like the Yeti stuff for FC4.

The trailer looks neat. I doubt I'd buy it for full price though. There better be some cool and fast ways to travel around the world if the map is anything like FC4. Walking everywhere would be a chore.

The diversity in the (Mega-)Fauna presented in this game will make or break it.
I love dinosaurs as much as the next guy, but we have seen those several times in games already, whereas megafauna had not really been explored.
I really hope they use everything from Haas eagles to giant sloths and so on.

Well, I'm in danger of tiring of the FC series, but this is certainly a good way to revitalise my interest. I wonder what weapons there will be - bow, spears, axes, hammers, daggers, maybe a sling, I wonder what else? There can't be too much by way of ranged weapons so I hope the melee combat is good.

I totally didn't think of this until you mentioned it. Interesting.

Why is the price in the thread title?

Because with it being a weird entry, a lot of people assumed it would be a smaller digital game like Blood Dragon.

Elias Toufexis, the voice of Deus Ex’s Adam Jensen is voicing the lead character in Far Cry Primal.

I assumed from the trailer that the dialogue would either be a made-up language or based on real early dialects. I'd be happy were that the case, but I suppose it would be a big risk in a Triple-A game.

I'm betting there will be dinos in some capacity. Either as DLC, as someone suggested above, or maybe a hidden area in the game with an optional side-quest, or something like that.

Dang anyone else want co-op in this?

It was fantastic in Far Cry 4.

I had a lot of fun with friends just goofing around, hunting and liberating the mega outposts.

I kinda was hoping it was a full fledged far cry with dinos not some kind of "small" area or wallet "bonus".
But on the other hand who knows i can imagine dinos in a big open world game in current technology are pretty hard to realize not to mention how the gameplay would look... or maybe dinos get revealed later anyway :)

Seems to me this is set when it is so that they could simply reskin existing animals and assets, therefore it's low budget. I'm not expecting anything actually "new" gameplay-wise. I didn't finish 4, or like it all that much, so I'm not sure I'll bother with this one until later on.

So Ubisoft is taking the time to construct a new language for the game but still won't take the time to let you actually choose between playing as a man or woman?

Ubisoft only playing at lip service to progress again. I mean if fucking COD can let you pick in their campaign this year...

...so by this standard 95% of videogames are bad.

Bizarre way of looking at things.

At this point in time if a game like Far Cry doesn't allow you to pick, then yes it has work to do. Not saying it'll be a bad game by any stretch, but they just aren't acting on their self-touting progressivism in a meaningful way.

I mean you won't see the protagonist's face, and hell they aren't even speaking a reap language in this game so they don't need to record new dialog for the NPCs to change gender pronouns.

When a game like Call of Duty is the pinnacle of progressivism in the industry, then everyone else isn't doing enough.

Yeah, but context matter. It's not just "a game like Far Cry". It's a Far Cry set tens of thousands of years ago. A female hunter/warrior doesn't make sense for the setting or era; they acted as foragers and gatherers during the Mesolithic period.

Then why is there a female in the hunting party in the trailer? All evidence points to prehistoric society as a whole being either matriarchal or egalitarian. The old idea that the women stayed behind and only foraged and the men went out and only hunted isn't accurate. Roles were much more intermingled than we previously believed. This was one of the major changes in theory that happened when I was studying prehistoric archeology in college.

Certainly not for all games, but guns are kind of central to the FC formula, no? I mean I loved using the bow in FC3/4, but I also like swapping to my brightly painted assault rifle with red dot sight.

Fair enough. I'm just afraid that a lot of people would not buy games just for the absence of guns which would discourage devs to make more unique games without guns.

Would be really cool if we get something similar to the feral powers in Farcry Instincts. I always wanted them to revisit that in some way even if it was a completely different setting/story.

Ah, wasn't aware of that. You're definitely more well-versed on the subject than I. Any good articles to check out?

The lack of guns actually make me more interested.

But it's probably yet another huge map with repetitive tasks all over, hunting and being hunted by animals that should normally leave you well alone and little to no story right?

(wasn't a big fan of FC4).

Wow that is really exciting, something that nobody has ever done before as far as i know. i hope they do this well

This needs to be Coop. Because so far, it just looks like another farcry 3 reskin... and i dont think that i would waste 60 bucks into a Ubisoft game without any coop play.

The Trailer for the game looked looked like that you can play the game in Coop. But if this is SP only? Skip

okay , now that ive gone through several pages of megafauna info im willing to give it a chance.
will need to see more though. alot more than what could have easily been reskinned from fc4.(i mean really? a tiger companion, an elephant ride and those tribals from the hallucinations)
if it really isnt a reskin, they couldve shown a better things
and i hope killing the beasts isnt too easy tho.
