Hey wetwired, in your costume corner (which looks awesome), where did you get that all gray minifig? I've seen a few people using solid color figs and I'm jealous...

Diagon Alley is awesome. I'm considering picking it up simply because of how unique all the buildings are. If its between those two, Diagon Alley is just too cool.
+1 for Diagon Alley

DA's building designs are more intricate and much nicer to look at, Hogwarts just looks drab and boring to build in comparison. The wife and I started building this set last weekend and she's enjoying it so far.
Thanks so much for the suggestions, guys! I'm going to go with Diagon Alley then. I agree that Hogwarts doesn't look as unique as Diagon Alley. It just doesn't quite capture what it looked like in the movies.

Has anyone here from Canada ordered from Lego.com? Did your order ship from the US or from somewhere in Canada? It doesn't really matter that much just wondering to get a better idea how long it would take to get it.
I just recently ordered the Millennium Falcon from LEGO.com. I placed the order very late at night on Saturday, February 11th and it arrived at my door (Niagara Region) a couple of days ago on Monday, February 20th. I used FEDEX International Ground shipping which was $17. According to the online tracking, it was shipped from the U.S.

PhonicleBone do you think you could post a picture of the back of it?

I took pics of the thickest sections to show how thin it is. From the back it looks like a demented bunny.

The stands in the back can just come right out, and I will probably replace them with monorail supports soon, but the extra weight helps keep it upright I believe.

I might disassemble the Mario and Metalman plate builds to try and make another freestanding one. I need to see what I actually have bricks of to build. I dont have tons of the smaller 1x1 pieces of L shaped corners in colors other than black (bought almost nothing but space sets as a kid). Maybe I will make one of Mega Man shooting and have an epic Lego battle. Keep Mega Man built and occasionally make a new robot master for him to fight.

But today it is the long wait for UPS to arrive. My Imperial Shuttle is out for delivery!

might build my shuttle soon. Was quite disappointed by the Grand Emporium build. Not nearly as fun as the mini modulars. Pavement was quite nice but most of the rest is fairly basic

Let me son build the roof/top floor - don't tell me - thats the most interesting section :p

The roof IS one of the more fun parts of the build, but you didn't hear that from me. ;)

Crappy quality cellphone pics of the last 3 sets I did. Probably all going to be disassembled soon to go into the moc inventory.

An Atlantis set! I've got a few of them, but I focus on the Atlanteans/creatures as opposed to the vehicles. Just finished putting together the City of Atlantis set the other day. Still need to get to work on the Portal of Atlantis.

I posted another one of my creations on cuusoo last night, the mech astronaut in my avatar

There's actually 4 in that mech series I made, I'm tempted to submit them all as well as my custom modular
I love Alan and Frank (and others but those two in particular), been seeing them featured in various Lego blogs. Had no idea a fellow Gaffer made those! I created an account there and voted. What sucks is that even the most popular models there have barely half the votes needed to be reviewed by Lego, though.

Just discovered that my local shopping mall has a LEGO store!! That is super awesome and extremely dangerous at the same time.

Get ready to SPEND MONEY!!!

But really, Craigslist, Amazon, eBay, and Bricklink are also great resources for building your collection for cheaper. Keep that in mind always.

Yeah, too bad I don't live in the US and amazon.com doesn't ship LEGO outside their borders. They have some fantastic deals sometimes. :(

I'm going to hit some local garage/yard sales this summer and see what I can find....

Ah, that does suck. I'd check Bricklink, then. I mean, you're going to get loose pieces vs sets that way (more often), but it's still great because you SHOULD be able to either find a seller in your country or a good deal on shipping via another seller.

Thanks! Good to know. It seems like you can get some nice deals if you don't care about open sets or complete boxes.

Sure thing. Just make sure you sort by lowest price and work your way up. Some people haven't adjusted their prices in a while for sets (OOP or not). I'm sure you're smart enough to know that, of course, but it's fair warning! It's relatively easy to overlook that fact.
