This was simply a silly Azusa episode. Nothing more, nothing less.

Azusa gain points. (Something "Ara Ara" while in a wedding dress)

Miki loses points. (Annoyance)

Makoto loses points. (Making a ruckus)

Though isnt the manga continuing on nicely?

I've always wondered about anime that seems well made thats based on a long running manga to do poorly. Whether its the audience for it saying 'we've already read the story and so dont need the anime' or there just isnt enough crossover or enough anime watchers who never read the manga it was based on or what.

Or whether its people saying we dont need to own it, even if they liked watching it.

Well, the manga has basically turned into standard shoujo and that seems to be what is sustaining it at the moment. The manga itself is probably the "youngest" of the three shoujos to air last season though.

Shoujos themselves don't seem to sell well in terms of home media - it's why most of it is never released on BD - so I think most people just accept that the show is an ad for the franchise rather than something that's supposed to sell on its own.

Come to think of it, it's probably why I can't recall watching an anime-original shoujo series. It'd be akin to flushing money down a toilet.

Depends on if you count mahou shoujo as shoujo.

Yeah, I actually know most of the circumstances surrounding these, but it's still sad. I think they're just bullshitting at this point on BRS, but I know that La Pucelle still belongs to Mastiff and no way in hell anyone, even NISA, would publish a waifu simulator on a moribund console. Still, NISA and Koei have a good relationship (and Koei has actually published several of NISA's games) so the Gust acquisition probably won't be a barrier to NISA localizations in the future.

As shown with Atelier Ayesha's whole mess, the whole Koei buying Gust seems to have at least now dampen my hope for any localization that lives up to what NISA has done in the past.

With Ayesha basically being sent out to die, no LE, no Japanese voices, it has been nothing but bad news one after another regarding it. At best, this means Koei steps it up with localizations for Gust products, at worst they give up and no more Gust games to the West.

It always struck me as one of those shows where you really need to be either Japanese or very accustomed to things/quirks/factoids/customs within Japan to appreciate. You can still watch it but I feel like I'm only getting half the laughs.

Heh, so Crunchyroll isn't satisified with just adding Arakawa to their back catalog... the lineup page updated at the same time with two new catalog slots, so there's still a couple more shows coming.

Enomoto Kei is a security "otaku" working for a security firm, devoted to improving the securities system on a daily basis. He is not an easy person to familiarize oneself with, always collected and calm, unapproachable, a maniac in Physics, Science, Architecture and profound in other basic theoretical foundation. He is certain and proud of the fact that there is no key which he cannot unlock.
One day, Kei is asked to help reveal a mystery behind a locked room murderer. While he lacks any interest in solving the mystery, he is inevitably intrigued by the term, "Closed Doors" and decides to take on the position. He works side by side with Aoto Junko and Serizawa Gou, who are lawyers working at a major law firm. Junko is pure and forward, acting upon her instincts while Serizawa is a prideful elitist who sees time as money, and therefore, will not take on any job that is unprofitable.
Possessing a vast amount of knowledge and acute insightfulness, Kei is able to unlock the closed doors and unravel the secrets leading to the solution. Never before has there been a drama focused solely on closed doors. It's an all new original mystery that will keep you guessing every week!

What can I say... One of the best mystery series I've seen so far. And I include shows that are not Japanese.
It's so good! The trio has great interactions, Serizawa is pretty funny. He always act cool but he ends up being clueless while Enomoto barely talks, but when he talks he's just so badass. Everybody just shut their mouth and listen to him. He has his gimmick when he rubs his fingers, stops, and we hear a sound of a key unlocking a door. So cool.
He builds smaller versions of the rooms, makes us visit them with a small camera... And there's my waifu Toda Erika as Junko, the rookie lawyer!
The mysteries so far were pretty great, the explainations were clever, realistic. I love the "locked rooms murders" concept, it's not something you're really used to see (well, as far as I'm concerned) and it works great.
The OST is pretty solid, and the ending theme by Arashi is actually enjoyable and catchy.

There are worse things people could be talking about.

The images of Anglerfish show up a lot in the show. I'm assuming it's like the school's mascot or something.

I kind of like them in a herpyderpy cute kind of way.

Precure and im@s are actually good for one!

I am perfectly ok with gifspamming Precure and Im@s.

But on the other hand, watching something in a group can easily elevate something that is average since you have all that camaraderie and can commiserate or celebrate together. ^^

This worked for Yami to Boshi so well. I think I was watching it along with Envelope and Mad Pierrot. Fun times. (althougH I was an episode behind due to work)

I think this has to be Sentai's best cover and disc arts yet. Cant wait.
Nonoha is on the third dvd art

I have to admit this show has me intrigued with all the puzzle stuff.

Dresden's first post made me eager to continue watching From the New World soon, but it happens that sometimes I'm not sure if Dresden's posts are totally serious! The later one he made discussing it made me sure it was genuine; sounds really good. Thanks for your impressions!

Yeah, it is really a bigger offense and all... but seeing what you did with that 'other Makoto' image I don't think she deserves nearly that much hate!

Does anyone still have the Makoto gifs where she was being super cute in the carriage?

Pretty Cure by day, Puchimas by night.

It's gonna be fun when the new Sailor Moon starts airing. Magical girls all day, every day.

I am ok with this scenario.

One more exam tomorrow, and then I'll finally be free to actually seriously sit down and watch anime again!

One more night of working the houston terminal and then freedom until Tuesday!
I'll try to finish Sailor moon S1 first and then get to drawing some of those things I was planning to.

There's also this upcoming Toei show, with a huge budget even!

Soooooooo cute!!!

The very best. I feel kind of feel like SHAFT have let me down in the opening department for a while now. They used to be so good.

Sasami-sans OP is forgettable, but Madoka Magica's was pretty fantastic and I love Denpa Onna's too. Are you just saying they are weak because of Sasami-san's opening?

When was that announced, again? I feel like we've been waiting for it for years.
Well, certainly years have passed since the project was announced on 2010!

And I wanted to apologize to Mad Pierrot and everyone else interested on this work for creating kind-of false expectations some time ago (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=42505901&postcount=15152). Thomas Astruc was dropping little hints that were... interesting, before blocking his Facebook account (https://www.facebook.com/thomas.astruc), and I was too confident on them instead of taking them at face value, and also taking into account those were non-official remarks and volatile plans.

Sounds great. I'm usually not interested in dramas, but a mystery live action sounds great. Thanks for letting us know about it.

It'd be awesome of AO was the dark middle chapter.

I'll admit, I probably should have tossed AO as quickly as I tossed SSY. But, I suppose franchise fondness is enough to cloud my judgment.

You're bad people. You gotta have that faith.

Yeah, but the thing is that it seems like most of your criticisms relate to other shows and not From the New World, since you haven't watched it past episode five. The show doesn't do what you're afraid of it doing.

I guess the lesson here is watching bad shows can ruin good shows for people.
I don't think that's a new lesson. We've already heard from people in this thread how easy is to experience 'anime burn out', something that I feel is a result of trying to keep on top of most of the shows that air in Japan. If you only focus on the new you're inevitably going to miss experiencing the truly treat because even if you do end up watching a show turns out well in the end you're going to have a bad experience with all those other shows which turn to shit in three episodes.

To be fair this problem isn't really related to anime. You can end up focused too heavily on the new release cycle. Why is this the same for both videogames and anime? Because that's how discussion on the internet works. Most of the time when people are talking about something on the internet is because it's going to come out soon and people are excited for it or because it has come out and people are discussing it. This drives the vast majority of discussion on the internet. As a result people who want to take part in the most popular areas of discussion have to try and keep up with the new stuff for fear of being left behind. This is a problem because being caught up in the cycle doesn't actually mean that you're having any kind of satisfying entertainment experience.

This is why, sometimes, old shows will get discussed spintaniousely. We've had a rash of Gunbuster, Idolm@ster and Utena discussion in the past because as soon as people get talking about a series openly others will feel the urge to join in. This is a generally a more positive experience because older shows have been fully vetted and people know whether or not they're shit. When you're watching a new series as it airs it could start going downhill at any moment, which isn't a problem with older material.

Remember, enjoy the backlog people!

Are you condoning image spamming?

No. I actually enjoy meaningful discussions. I'm just surprised by the lack of... posts in the past few days. Of course, yall have lives which is totally awesome. Do that instead if you can. that's what I did over the weekend. lol. As the one who will lead AnimeGAF into OT4 I'm just pulling out backup #1.

Apparently they opened up a SAO Cafe. Filled with... lots of girls.

Funny that someone mentioned Neptunia as part of a joke earlier, since Animate.tv published an article with some of the character designs for the upcoming Hyperdimension Neptunia anime:

I was about to post this just now. T_T

Gundam AGE Episode 20 or "Here Comes Char Zeheart!"

gAGEep20.png

Char! Char! Char! Hold on a minute...

Zeheart has now become our Char Clone...cute. Right down to how uses kicks a lot, has a red mobile suit, wears a mask and has 3x the movement speed.

Next Episode, some phantoms are in the way of Asemu for some reason.

Are they selling food at this cafe? If not then this cafe is as bad as the show.

I can't believe you're sticking with the series. Zeheart at least has an awesome voice.

You know, there really is nothing to talk about regarding anime this season. For real.

Yeah. I know. Last season really was the ideal time to get to OT4. I feel so bad. *sigh*. Still, if we get to OT4 this season it'll be that much more of an accomplishment.

Maturity, bitches.
Every time I gif a scene which results in 600+ frames I always say that'll be the last time. Inevitably I always end up doing another in the near future.

Well, shit. I haven't been following Ayesha at all because I have, let's see, Iris 1-3, Annie, Rorona and Totori sitting here unplayed, but that's bad news. I should have expected this, I suppose, because if they can't even afford to dub Musou games anymore, what the hell chance does anything even more niche have?

Ok guys. Our posting rate has declined below expected values. I will have to resort to back up #1.

I honestly like this posting rate a lot more. I usually try to at least glance at every post, but when we were in full hyper-speed, I was on the verge of giving up and replacing that with searching for posts that mention backlog-season shows.

Maybe I'm just not made for OT4.

Just leave a 15 year gap between watching Gunbuster and starting Diebuster,

Last time I saw Gunbuster, it was on VHS.
I haven't ever seen Diebuster, but I picked up the BD boxes for both last year.
It sounds like maybe I should watch Diebuster first before re-watching Gunbuster.

Looks fantastic.

I'm glad David Production cut all of Jojos budget in order to save up for Neptunia this summer. This is a show that deserves nothing less than the finest production quality.
