Toilet humor I guess. Flat episode I would say.

These episodes have been pretty rough to say the least.
Kirika being the one who killed Mireille's parents was surprising for a number of reasons. Isn't Kirika several years younger than her? They looked about the same age in the flashback but Kirika is clearly old enough now to be a high school student while I assumed Mireille to be in her mid to upper twenties. I'm really not sure how this will go on for five more episodes.

Kirika was eight when she murdered the Bouquets. Mireille would have been about thirteen at the time - I believe she's supposed to be twenty at the start of the series, and Kirika fifteen.

It's interesting how this thread has turned into Precure OT, this can only lead to a lot of people watching and whining about Dokidoki when it starts.
Pretty Cure by day, Puchimas by night.

It's gonna be fun when the new Sailor Moon starts airing. Magical girls all day, every day.

It's easy to say this in hindsight, but even in the context of just having watched the episode, there's faith in the competence of the writing to carry things through, and in having that long 'dump' be something worthwhile.
Yeah, it's very easy to say that in hindsight because from the two episodes I watched I had zero faith in the competency of the writing to carry things through. In fact, I don't know if one should ever have confidence in an anime to have competent enough writing to carry a show. Might end up like Duckroll with Bones.

So both seasons of Arakawa Under the Bridge are going up on CR in about four hours. Anyone know anything about it? Seems interesting.
I think it's a decent comedy, but it's probably the most esoteric of Shaft's modern shows. The main character's name is a pun that essentially requires some rudimentary Japanese to understand, for example. Although they spell it out for you pretty hard iirc.
(That and everyone is named for what they are, come to think of it...)

Yeah, but the thing is that it seems like most of your criticisms relate to other shows and not From the New World, since you haven't watched it past episode five. The show doesn't do what you're afraid of it doing.

I guess the lesson here is watching bad shows can ruin good shows for people.
It relates to the first five episodes that I've seen anyway. It probably doesn't help that I think the entire genre is shit though. lol

But unlike people who hate anime because they watched some loli flash her panties and get molested by a harem lead, I've actually watched and read a lot of science fiction before reaching this conclusion. :p

(I suppose the argument is that science fiction was always shit, even back in the 30s-40s with the rise of pulp lol.)

Wasn't Eureka AO the best show ever?

I think you'll like it if the pacing hits you right. A few of the gags are about the legendary creatures and mythologies of Japan and China.
I suppose it helps that the show tells you exactly what chapter it's adapting. It can do like three or four chapters an episode, which keeps things moving.

God, there's so much hype not only for the final episode, but for whenever Saki S2 happens. Mahjong is the best sport ever, etc, etc.

I really enjoyed it. Probably my favorite SHAFT comedy show. It's got a definite methodical pacing to it, really really deliberate in fact. You either like that or you don't, you'll know within a few episodes.

I know you're being sarcastic but just wait for the eventual third try that'll tie it all up and make it the best franchise in history. Like Babylon 5 I'm sure there's hints and clues strewn about that, once you see this third season, that I have full confidence will be amazing and no reason to believe otherwise, you'll look back and realize that even AO was a masterpiece and necessary for what will comes next.

It'd be awesome of AO was the dark middle chapter.

I'll admit, I probably should have tossed AO as quickly as I tossed SSY. But, I suppose franchise fondness is enough to cloud my judgment.

Hey, the main characters actually look like their anime counterparts!

Amazin'.
Yep. That Square Enix money.

Not as surprising as when Infinite Stratos suddenly became the hot shit out of nowhere. That one left everyone baffled.

Not enough to get a S2. I enjoyed it myself (enough to seek out light novels for more). Even if I was baffled by the extreme obliviousness of the protagonist.

Didn't a second season not get greenlit because of author issues with the publisher or something? The BDs and DVDs sold really well that season, second only to Madoka if I remember correctly.

Now all your whining about said character early on is even more hilarious.

I feel so embarrassed now!

So, Heartcatch - best fairies, right?

Oh yeah, definitely.

Did I just witness the most beautiful transformation in the Precure series right now?

Wow, fantastic episode. Man her scream gave me goosebumps. ;_;

Anyways I am hype as hell right now. Moving on!

I love it personally.

Well, S2 not happening is more because the author imploded more than anything else.

I still remember people were doing some weird mental gymnastics to justify its high sales (the Madoka BD was late, so people decided to drop their 100 dollars on IS instead? Is that how nerds think?).

What little of AO I saw wasa dark chapter alright. Of my life.
At least you didn't have to fight a giant terminator robot.

Gundam AGE Episode 19 or "A Lack Of Correction"

Asemu disobeys orders from Millie and doesn't get 'corrected' and he only gets sent to his quarters. Gundam has changed in 30 years.
Although Zeta Gundam was an all out brawl.

So Asemu is in the army now along with new guys and Woolf, who's about the same as he was 25 years ago actually. Vegans up to no good blah blah blah.

Next episode a red mobile suit appears!
Char's back woooooooooooo!

Did you already forget Sunshine's? I remember being disappointed with Moonlight's transformation because it seemed so pedestrian in comparison.

I loved the whole set up before it even happened. You had trees lightning up, Yuri coming down from the floating island above in a vortex of swag petals, gave a short but solid speech of fighting for the hearts of others, and then proceeded to go through her super glittery transformation of awesome proportions. You may have just not been a fan of it because it was hella short in comparison to the others.

That said, Sunshine's transformation was godlike too.

I suppose that could happen if they were like looking to buy anything, but the high price of entry makes that seem highly unlikely.

Being this an adaptation of a novel series helps!

Wait until the renegades at OVERLAP (http://over-lap.co.jp/IS/) have established themselves properly. They didn't abandon MEDIA FACTORY to not continue with the franchise exactly how it was before!

Well the lunchboxes are sold out, so I assume something else must be failing. Probably the lack of an Atelier Ayesha LE.

And the lack of Black Rock Shooter PSP, and the lack of La Pucelle Ragnarok, and the lack of Ciel no Surge, and the lack of a preorder for the Nichibros box set, and and and........ ;_;

Moonlight's transformation is choppier and more traditional with its camerawork even when compared to Marine's and Blossom's. You can tell Toei had already blown their wad by the time they came around to animating it. I remember 7th mentioning something along the lines that Sunshine's transformation alone had been allotted the budget of two entire episodes, which may have been an exaggeration yet still explains why the quality is so disparate between each character's stock footage.

For the record, I'm only speaking about the thirty second sequence here. I agree that Moonlight's arc was handled beautifully.

While Bright Noa makes everything better, even he wouldn't be enough to save this. And you'll be wishing he was around later on in the series.

Never thought I'd get DtB S2'd though (Yes I'm acknowledging the existance of Darker Than Black S2 to make a point).
But Diebuster is good. That's not the issue here.
People don't like Diebuster?
I love Diebuster. It's just that it is very different from the original and I think watching both of them in close proximity only makes people sour about the direction Tsurumaki took with the sequel.

Sukitte bomba'ing makes perfect sense, because I don't think girls who are watching anime really want to see anything resembling reality, but at least it basically finished its story in one cour.

Though isnt the manga continuing on nicely?

I've always wondered about anime that seems well made thats based on a long running manga to do poorly. Whether its the audience for it saying 'we've already read the story and so dont need the anime' or there just isnt enough crossover or enough anime watchers who never read the manga it was based on or what.

Or whether its people saying we dont need to own it, even if they liked watching it.

So there's some kind of direct correlation between the quality of stock footage and the number of boring filler episodes? That......almost makes sense. I blame Royal Rainbow Burst for some of those lazy Smile episodes after the midseason episode.

They are committed still to release Black Rock Shooter, believe it or not.
I believe La Pucelle Ragnarok's license is out of their hands.
They missed their chance with Ciel no Surge now that Gust is owned by Koei.

I wondered with they were going to SHAFT it up. Though it looks like the backgrounds, much to everyone's dismay, haven't had a similar treatment.

Every smart studio should do the same. Seems to help BD sales. Actually gives people incentive to buy the discs, to get an improved version of a show they love.

HeartCatch Precure - 26

Oh man,
Sasorina almost got HeartCatched!
I really do like how the villains look after each other, even if they are at each others throats at times.

And what is up with the new ED? That is some holy roller music!

That ED is absolutely incredible. The whole Gospel music inspired vibe to it is infectiously catchy.

I'd like to get the full tank as well, but it's already sold out on AmiAmi. I guess I'll just have to look elsewhere.

I don't think I'd have a problem assembling it, I built a few Gundam kits when I was a kid, but the painting might be a problem. Though I'm sure I could learn how.

So it's probably going to level out at like 25,000?

GuP is phenomenally successful. totally didn't expect that, even with the high preorder interest.

I got Blossom and Marine as well :)

Annoyingly, Cure Sunshine was a limited store exclusive and is expensive/a pain to get :(

I need to find some good Precure smile figures. Which company makes the best ones? (non chibi)

The only anime figurine I have is... nothing. :( I've always wanted to get into anime figurines but the prices keep on scaring me.

I know what you mean. But its too late for me! Once you buy that first one, oh boy.

IS has Charl. Charl makes everything better.

Man speaks truth bombs.

If I don't acknowledge this as Gunbuster 2, then it might end up being good as a seperate entity, but coming straight off Gunbuster...
The trick was letting that sensation that Aim for the Top! Gunbuster left you cement on itself (preferably for 20 years), and proceed afterwards to watch Aim for the Top 2! Diebuster with a faint remembrance and nostalgia that would have soften the shock of such different and comparatively strident vision but with closely related underlying themes.

Wait wat? You liked Tarte? I wasn't a fan of him personally.

Oh yeah, I thought Tarte was the greatest. A ferret who speaks Osaka-ben? Just more evidence that the Fresh production team was on acid when they came up with half of the shit in the show. The mascots that aren't just fuzzy balls of child-like naivete are all pretty great (except Coco and Nuts. Fuck Coco and Nuts.)

They are committed still to release Black Rock Shooter, believe it or not.

Yeah, I actually know most of the circumstances surrounding these, but it's still sad. I think they're just bullshitting at this point on BRS, but I know that La Pucelle still belongs to Mastiff and no way in hell anyone, even NISA, would publish a waifu simulator on a moribund console. Still, NISA and Koei have a good relationship (and Koei has actually published several of NISA's games) so the Gust acquisition probably won't be a barrier to NISA localizations in the future.
