Puchimas! 22

Hmm, you might wanna move your glasses up a bit!

Well, shit. I haven't been following Ayesha at all because I have, let's see, Iris 1-3, Annie, Rorona and Totori sitting here unplayed, but that's bad news. I should have expected this, I suppose, because if they can't even afford to dub Musou games anymore, what the hell chance does anything even more niche have?

It's pretty bad when NISA isn't selling it on their online shop either.

Inexplicably, it seems that the latest issue of Otaku USA may have prematurely revealed that Discotek Media in fact has a license for Kill Me Baby.

I wasn't aware that Otaku USA was still in print.

Looks fantastic.

I'm glad David Production cut all of Jojos budget in order to save up for Neptunia this summer. This is a show that deserves nothing less than the finest production quality.

I'll be ok with this.

Maturity, bitches.
Only thing for it is to rewatch the show again and make more Mitsuba images.

If you are interested in the tank model in itself, Dragon Models Limited is the manufacturer of those kits that PLATZ, lets say... "repackages", so keep an eye on their Dragon Armor series of fully assembled pre-painted models (http://www.dragon-models.com/d-m-releases.asp?tl=DRR) in case they are interested (and I'm sure they will!) in releasing on their own a PzKpfw IV Ausf. D one you can buy and use your Anglerfish Team decals for!
I may consider that option depending on the price. Ta.

The most mega of bombas, unfortunately.
And to think it was the show that got me into regular anime watching. So tragic. At least the manga still lives.

I'd like to get the full tank as well, but it's already sold out on AmiAmi. I guess I'll just have to look elsewhere.
I don't think I'd have a problem assembling it, I built a few Gundam kits when I was a kid, but the painting might be a problem. Though I'm sure I could learn how.
So it's probably going to level out at like 25,000?
Well assembly may not be a problem since I've always been partial to construction toys. I've just never built something like that. Also the painting in the bit I'm worried about. Could always ask my father since he is an artist for assistance.

Indeed, it's the wrong pairing.

In related news, the toys I'd ordered in HLJs Bandai sale a few weeks ago turned up. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Tsubomi was way cheaper than Erika.
Didn't realise there were AKB0048 figures out (though I guess I shouldn't be surprised and I haven't exactly looked) I may be tempted to get a Nendo if one ever emerged.

God dammit someone else is always ahead of me.
Fufufu. Beating Jex to the punch. It feels like I've levelled up!

I remember being worried that that was going to be the new OP or ED. So glad it wasn't.

I feel so embarrassed now!

Oh yeah, definitely.
Best fairies ..maybe but the fact that the seeds the precure uses come from the bottom of their .... is a drawback that i have difficulties to forget ..even after all this time.

HeartCatch Precure - 33

Wow, fantastic episode. Man her scream gave me goosebumps. ;_;

Anyways I am hype as hell right now. Moving on!
It was such a perfect prelude to the storm !
I loved the whole set up before it even happened. You had trees lightning up, Yuri coming down from the floating island above in a vortex of swag petals, gave a short but solid speech of fighting for the hearts of others, and then proceeded to go through her super glittery transformation of awesome proportions. You may have just not been a fan of it because it was hella short in comparison to the others.

That said, Sunshine's transformation was godlike too.
Sunshine transformation is "yellow and bright" , technically impressive but too bright IMO. it's awesome but i prefer moonlight. that transformation has like ....no wasted moves or something. i feel it's perfect.

HeartCatch Precure - 34
Cure Moonlight kicked everyone's ass in this episode. Looking forward to seeing how she'll treat everyone from this point on.
Moonlight sure was awesome in this episode ... every ennemy was like "what" ..because they couldn't contain all the awesome in front of them.
This episode is for sure in my top three Best precure episodes no doubt.

Every time I gif a scene which results in 600+ frames I always say that'll be the last time. Inevitably I always end up doing another in the near future.

What is this ? it's cute ..it's.... it's ... am i experiencing a :cajun moment ?

kayos90

Tragic victim of fan death
Given the length of these daily shorts, it might as well be.

Faces on the actual girls seem off. Chihaya's mouth was really far down as well in the previous episode.

Well... good thing i'm not watching puchimas right now.

Funny that someone mentioned Neptunia as part of a joke earlier, since Animate.tv published an article with some of the character designs for the upcoming Hyperdimension Neptunia anime:

More at the link.

D'awwww she's adorable!

Inexplicably, it seems that the latest issue of Otaku USA may have prematurely revealed that Discotek Media in fact has a license for Kill Me Baby.

Well I'm sold. Something about this show. Not much to talk about but I still sat through it.
Just silly stupid fun cuteness.

I feel like we just took a trip back in time where every single anime made under the sun got a physical release.

I would be ok with that. the crash overlooked a few things, including Mahoraba Heartful Days and Potemayo. Two license omissions I shall never forgive.

Whoa, I thought that was bespectacled Tsunemori Akane for a second until I saw Puchimas. That face is.....kind of off.

There's stuff to discuss. MMY might be worth some discussion later on. Also the recent developments in Space Bros are quite interesting. Other stuff as well. Its there.

Don't you mean nothing to rage about?

I don't think there's anything to rage about or talk about. There aren't enough people watching the same shows to have any kind of debate about except maybe Tamako Market.

So instead we have... nothing much.

Why is this the same for both videogames and anime? Because that's how discussion on the internet works. Most of the time when people are talking about something on the internet is because it's going to come out soon and people are excited for it or because it has come out and people are discussing it. This drives the vast majority of discussion on the internet. As a result people who want to take part in the most popular areas of discussion have to try and keep up with the new stuff for fear of being left behind.
The social aspect is certainly a big thing, but there's also practical concerns about availability due to short marketing life-spans. Will the stream for this show still be online two years from now? Will the BDs be out of print? What store bonuses am I missing out on if I don't get them now? If I want things like sidestory comics, the soundtrack, or figures, will I still be able to get them? And that download code for the custom PSP theme that comes with the game expires in a year.

Spoilers are a problem, also, if you hang around places where people talk about anime. For example, I haven't seen Madoka yet, but at this point I know pretty much everything that happens so I've lost the ability to be surprised by most of it. That wouldn't have happened if I'd watched the original NicoNico stream at the time it was first up.

What problems?
Firehawk12 just has some weird expectation through his years of watching bad sci-fic. That anything remotely resembling "infodump" in the loose sense is automatically regarded as "show ruining". I mean he did the same shit with CotS.:p

Tetsuwan Birdy: Decode - S2 - complete

Alright, time for a more sober reflection. The final two episodes delivered everything I wanted. Nothing more, and nothing less. While the second season is significantly better than the first, on the whole, I think both seasons are trips worth taking.

Without spoiling anything, the basic premise of the show is that Birdy and Tsutomu occupy the same body. Tsutomu is an average high school student, and Birdy is a federation investigator (or action hero, if you like), tracking down a band of rogue agents. They are two separate personalities, but their shared body can flip back and forth depending on their needs (this is explained in the first episode). The first season focuses heavily on Tsutomu, while the second focuses on Birdy herself.

The first season is more or less a set-up, and the second season changes drastically in tone, becoming more of a cat-and-mouse thriller. The only issue is while the mood is fitting, the plot wears itself clearly on its surface, with nothing too unexpected ever coming to light. Despite this shift, the show also never delves into any intellectual pondering (as the cyber punk and sci-fi genres often do). These things (plus some other distractions) keep the show from ascending to the status of a classic, but it remains a very solid effort nonetheless. There are some cliff-hangers and a minor reveal at the end, but nothing you can't see coming, and nothing incredibly important either.

While Tsutomu's story, character evolution, and setting are all somewhat mundane - Birdy's story (and her world) are far more interesting, and they are given proper treatment. Her character is already fully developed, but we see her upbringing, and the events that shaped her. As a child Birdy is cute, playful and energetic. She is also athletically capable and equally unashamed to wear almost nothing as she is as an adult. The events that shaped her aren't just revelatory since they also tie in directly to the plot. So the flashback episodes serve as more than just character building. There is also some ethical inquiring about the nature of raising people as machines with planned purposes, but again, it doesn't go very deep, nor does it change the nature of the characters. Regardless, as an adult Birdy emits a sort of stone-cold Samus Aran vibe when executing her mission objectives, and elsewhere she is just human enough to relate to. She is emotionally and physically solid, with few weaknesses. Her conflicts don't come from within, but rather from the limitations of other people (namely Tsotomu - who becomes less and less a burden to the point of not even existing by the end). But to be honest, there is still nothing more sexy than a strong and intelligent woman, capable of sorting her own shit and standing toe to toe with anyone. There is also a female antagonist in the second season who is equally attractive for her desires to be matched in strength and determination. This series has babes who will wreck your shit.

Birdy is somewhat known for having quite a bit of action sakuga (even when nothing is happening, for instance, when Nataru walks down a hallway), and the final episode is no exception. A fight rages on for nearly half the episode and the great deal of it is fully animated - backgrounds included. However, the sakuga here exudes low-budget and time constraints - but there is some kind of charm in how simplistic the forms become when in motion. Everything sort of turns into like, a wonderful little student-like, one-man effort (whether it really is or not I don't know) while retaining a high level of energy and emotion. It really is a spectacle to see, and at times even appears borderline experimental. I wish we could get a new top talent movie out of this series, because the action is so good. Overall I'd say this show is a solid second tier series. I absolutely recommend it to anyone who has already seen all of the classic action anime out there, as it is sure to satisfy.

Some screens from the last episode

No. I actually enjoy meaningful discussions. I'm just surprised by the lack of... posts in the past few days. Of course, yall have lives which is totally awesome. Do that instead if you can. that's what I did over the weekend. lol. As the one who will lead AnimeGAF into OT4 I'm just pulling out backup #1.

Apparently they opened up a SAO Cafe. Filled with... lots of girls.

http://animepaw.com/gsc-sword-art-online-cafe-pictures/
What do they serve there? The tears of all the people who hate the show?
Well assembly may not be a problem since I've always been partial to construction toys. I've just never built something like that. Also the painting in the bit I'm worried about. Could always ask my father since he is an artist for assistance.

Do they come with instructions on how to paint it so it looks like what's on the box? Either way, it's not like I'd be able to read it. lol
Though I'm sure there will be youtibe tutorials up on how to do it.

I hope...

Best fairies ..maybe but the fact that the seeds the precure uses come from the bottom of their .... is a drawback that i have difficulties to forget ..even after all this time.

I hear you. The last day of summer break episode where they returned like 6 kids to normal and one of the fairies were
pooping
gems consistently had me rolling with laughter.

It was such a perfect prelude to the storm !

Yeah it was!

Sunshine transformation is "yellow and bright" , technically impressive but too bright IMO. it's awesome but i prefer moonlight. that transformation has like ....no wasted moves or something. i feel it's perfect.

Glad to see you agree!

Moonlight sure was awesome in this episode ... every enemy was like "what" ..because they couldn't contain all the awesome in front of them.
This episode is for sure in my top three Best precure episodes no doubt.

Pretty much! She bodied every one of them like it was nothing.

Tomodachi wa Mahou
You know, there really is nothing to talk about regarding anime this season. For real.

I think I'm the only one whos enjoying the season.

The second half of Psycho-Pass so far has been nothing short of fantastic. Everything post-school arc has really been great stuff. Easily my favorite show of 2013 right now.

Maoyuu has been a pleasant surprise. Minami-ke is giving me my Hosaka god.

Still need to watch everything else outside of Tamako Market. Which I have nothing nice to say about so my mother told me to quiet.

GINTAMA 240 : Trolling attitude powa
The joke in this episode was priceless.
Gintama%20-%20240.jpg

You've been .......

Priceless ..
I knew already that some character in the gintama universe were trolls with a high challenging attitude to troll even better than before ..but still these last 2 episodes were pretty much priceless.

What a perfect trolling scheme !

VERDICT : AWESOME

Maturity, bitches.
I feel like i'm following a thread specifically about Puchimas, Precure and Idolmaster. This season needs to be over.
Well Puchimas is a week daily show which is why it's always in this thread.

This season is awful except for Inferno Cop. Better to hit the backlog.
For anyone who laments that anime is getting predictable I suggest they watch Inferno Cop. It is anything but.

Yeah, it is really a bigger offense and all... but seeing what you did with that 'other Makoto' image I don't think she deserves nearly that much hate!
Well I'd have to do something bad to Miki's image before I touch any of the other iDOLs. And the other Makoto bypassed the list and I just took direct action. For the greater good.

Eureka Seven 40

OP RANKINGS:
2nd OP>1st OP>4th OP>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>3rd OP.

Literal, total, absolute yadda yadda death on Eureka's dirty scene hogging bratlings. Seriously, people could have died or been hurt because these godawful creatures continue to do stupid crap like this. All of them should have been dropped out the Gekko's hatch a long, long time ago.

Anyway, excluding the episode ruining bull that are Eureka's curs, this was a cool episode. The Vodaraq are an interesting bunch, with their warring sects and all. Dewey's gone cray-cray, and we're about to see if Sakuya has anime colored hair like Eureka and Anemone.

Well, I gave it that one episode to see what happened, and the whole capture/separation thing really didn't do anything meaningful that justified that information being relayed to the audience. At the very least, beyond the fact that they get caught by that one older dude and led away with the (iirc) threat of their powers being removed, that episode's first 10 minutes has no direct impact. There really isn't any time to reflect.

You know, Mass Effect 3 has DLC which is just alien talking heads explanation the shitty mythology to the player 10 minutes at a time. It's an easy way to relay information to the reader because there are very few ways to depict learning to the audience in context, especially in film/television.

And hey, most people rely on the out of context infodump (even Beasts of the Southern Wild briefly explains the Bathtub with a map sequence) because it doesn't really interfere with the story.

But if you make the attempt... it just has to be interesting to make it worth it. Either the information itself is presented in an interesting manner or the fact that the characters care about this information is presented in an interesting manner (aka, Spielberg-face).

And maybe it's because I've turned so hard on science fiction that I'm almost allergic to any speeches that last more than a minute. Thinking back on Star Trek, Stargate, and the king of infodumps, Babylon 5 (In The Beginning is essentially an infodump in movie form, come to think of it), it's not like I was always against people just relaying information to the reader. As a Stargate fan, there was a few years where I actually cared about "The Furlings" (yep, SyFy writers sure are creative) and their place in the mythology.

My patience for that stuff wears pretty thin nowadays though. There are ways to do infodumps in and out of the context of the story in a brief enough manner that it doesn't get in the way of the story and bring everything to a screeching halt. Space Brothers (the movie) summarized the premise of the movie with a cool looking montage of the various contributions humanity has made to space exploration. Space Battleship Yamato 2199 summarizes the mythology of the show via a short scene where one of the main characters teaches a group of children by telling them why they happen to be living underground. Perhaps one of my favourite SF films of all time, The Wrath of Khan, has a scene where the main trio sit in the room and talk about the bible for 5 minutes - "6 days?! Well, what about 6 minutes!" - but in the context of everything else, coming straight off a gripping action scene, I don't mind that scene and never skip it when I rewatch the film.

Heck, come to think of it, Game of Thrones had to solve this problem by showing people fuck each other in order to make it visually stimulating interesting to the viewer.

I do agree that infodumps are essentially selling a promise of better things to come. Part of the mythology of the world is established and you're meant to be curious about what else the universe might have in store. But you really need a deft and careful hand to deploy something like a 10 minute exposition scene in a manner that is easy to consume.

That said, I probably tolerate the infodump more than the shitty promise of "answers to be revealed later!" that a lot of SyFy relies on nowadays. Hey, I found out what the numbers mean and it turns out that I shouldn't have spent those 3 years of my life worrying about it. Go figure. (The Cylons. They Have A Plan™. Really! We even made a movie called The Plan that explains the plan after the fact!)

I've seen the film, but I don't remember too much about it at the moment unfortunately. :(

Well I disagree with your position on infodumps mainly on the grounds that sometimes speeches or conversations are the quickest and most accurate way to relay information to a reader or viewer. There may also be information that only a select few people know and so that also leads to a infodump when the knowledge is passed on. This is especially prevalent in scifi or fantasy mainly because the further a person gets away our world, the more basic information they have to relay. There may be very fundamental rules that every person in the parallel universe understands such as the basics of magic but the audience themselves wouldn't and so this has to be communicated in some form. While yes, there are some things that can be visually relayed, there are also things that can really only be told. Hell, most information in the real world is convened in some form of infodump via college lectures, youtube videos, wikipages, or something of that sort.

Now there are other components to infodumps such as whether the information is valuable or could be expressed in a more organic manner visually but infodumps shouldn't just be viewed as a negative from the get-go. They're a tool. The problem with the sexposition in Game of Thrones is how artificial it feels in both placement(are there many people who give history lectures before they bang someone?) and actual content. SSY also felt somewhat artificial in regards to placement as the timing felt way too perfect. That said, bad examples of someone using a tool, doesn't make the tool itself bad.
