Where F/Z is at is alright. I would definitely like for it to be #1 but I'm alright with it. I feel horrible about Tsuritama. That's the real tragedy for me on that list. I feel like it was robbed. That show deserved to be better than Jojo honestly. Maybe it's just me.

Tsuritama is like the Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope International: quality titles that are just, by their very nature, going to be overlooked and neglected by most people for other titles that just scream mass market popularity appeal.

To this day people still havent heard of Tsuritama while everybody knows like JJBA or Sword Art Online. Rather unfortunate.

Man, comparing Tsurutama to SO4 is one thing, but to then to associate SO4 to quality...

I'm crying. How do you do this!? T_T

So I come back from school today, and found out that my sister really enjoyed kon. So much that she finished watching the first season in two days......she had school on both of those days....what have you guys done.....[/spoiler]
Your sister has good taste.

As for your Eva question, uh, you probably wanna delete that.

Okay, here are the quick-and-dirty top ten results adjusted to exclude AnimeGAF.

1. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - 291
2. Kids on the Slope - 188
3. Fate/Zero S2 - 175
4. Hyouka - 171
5. (tie) Space Brothers, Sword Art Online - 125
7. (tie) Chihayafuru, Girls und Panzer - 108
9. (tie) Hunter x Hunter 2011, Tsuritama - 100

My math could be messed up, but this is what I ended up getting.

Didn't you just watch Tsuritama a little while ago? I think that's just the recency bias at work.

I need to learn to filter this thread better; Every night I think "Today, I will finally (re)start something of value like Utena or SDF Macross or LotGH right after I catch up with the anime thread."

Then 2 hours later I lose all will to do anything. Still, the AotY results and the fallout were interesting.

Seeing Hyouka winning reminds me of a question I have: Are there any slice-of-life anime in the vein of something like Fruits Basket? I haven't watched too many in the genre, but this is the only one I absolutely fell in love with. I'd like to see more like it.

I can't think of anything specifically with story content like Fruits Basket, but it's director, Akitaro Daichi, is pretty idiosyncratic in his style. I don't think I've seen anything from his back-catalogue with a comparable tone, but a lot of stuff has a similar sense of humour to it at least. Unfortunately, I'm kind of blanking on things at the moment (I've had a long day...), so can't think of any specific recommendations to throw out off the top of my head.

Saying that, whilst it's nothing at all like Fruits Basket, I'm reminded that more people really need to see his one-off OAV Makasete Iruka (released by ADV under the rather unfortunate name of Grrl Power). It's really neat, and has some absolutely terrific animation.

I'm not at all surprised if otherGaf chose joJo first. The more casual fans probably loved the hell out of it because it was pretty much the manly action show a bunch of people crave.

Going over the AOTY results, some thoughts:

- As time passes the more problems I have with what I remember of Fate/Zero's ending. It was a show whose climax occurred two episodes into a flashback.
You can tell a story has a problem when you feel like the most interesting story climax and character pay off occurs 2/3rds of the way through the series. Kiritsugu is certainly the most interesting Batman character in the story and his arc is far more intriguing than crap that just ends up tying into Fate/Stay Night.

This is kind of a problem I've had with Fate/Zero S2 since it ended as opposed to a something that crept up on me slowly and this is reflected in where it sits on my rankings.

Actually I thought Kirei was the most interesting character in the show and the climax related more to him than anything. Kiritsugu also got some development too. His climax character development-wise was
inside the Grail where he realized he fucked up
.

A lot of the rougher animation is due to Ryo-timo being the animation director, he likes to let animators do their own thing. It sure has some nice sakuga, though.

Yeah, I thought it was great! And this is coming directly off the heels of seeing Sword of the Stranger for the first time, which I thought was just alright - despite the amazing action. I don't really mind different styles, or more simplistic approaches (I resisted the urge to post certain screens because they just looked down right derpy when still), but as long as there is some momentum and the right kind of energy, roughly animated sakuga can still be just as good.

The original doesn't have any audio. That makes the anime adaptation better by default. Even Daryl, who really didn't care for the series, knows this to be true. In the most recent episode of the Anime World Order podcast he gives it a fairly even handed review, or at least the most even handed review that he can as a robot: http://www.awopodcast.com/2013/01/a...-weathers-did-not-beat-up-any-vietnamese.html

I would be inclined to agree. A lot of emphasis is put on story, and sometimes I think we place too much. While it's true that it's important, a lot of other things count just as much. In this case, Kids on the Slope had some amazing music, and impeccable pacing. KotS's story wasn't interesting to me, but the show still managed to hold my attention, despite that. I think that warrants some acknowledgement.

Wait... it does? Hahah, oh man... then you don't wanna know what I thought User CP meant.

So, how many of the shows that you voted for made it into the top ten?

6/10 for me, having voted for Smile, Code:Breaker, Sengoku Collection, and Nichibros. That's a small improvement over last year's 5/10.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Some of them didn't even watch Jojo and were voting on manga nostalgia alone. Not that anything could be done about it however.

To be fair I voted for JoJo despite having watched one episode of Battle Tendency.

8/10.

Wasurenagumo and My Little Monster were lost causes.

robotics;notes is the one with that cute brown haired genki girl right?
Gotta be more specific than that. This is anime. It's this one.

You guys like a bunch of anime where nothing happens. And stuff is happening in R;N. I'm serious.
Define nothing happens. I don't think I've seen any show where nothing happens. Not quite sure how you could even do that unless you made an anime about watching paint dry which would still have things happening in the form of the paint drying.

To be fair I voted for JoJo despite having watched one episode of Battle Tendency.
And this is why Jojo's place is meaningless. Too much bias.

7/10 here. Girls und Panzer and Space Bros were an honorable mention though.

Haven't watched the K-On movie and not really planning to.
